Grant's Rant: 3-14-22 Thin Skinned Athletes Mar 14, 2022

Show notes

Am I supposed to feel sorry for tennis star Naomi Osaka because a fan chanted " Naomi, you suck" this past weekend at Indian Wells? Well I don't! I don't feel sorry for Russell Westbrook either, or any other pro sports figure who gets bent out of shape over fans heckling. Deal with it, or choose another profession! To me it's that simple. You are on a big stage. You can't make millions from salary and endorsements and then complain when someone says something bad to you. These athletes are lucky they didn't play 10, 20, 30, 40 years ago. They'd last about 10 minutes!

Episode 150: Mike Pereira NFL On Fox Mar 11, 2022

Show notes

Today's episode features Mike Pereira from the NFL On Fox. We talked about the bad no call in the Super Bowl that resulted in a touchdown for the Bengals when Jalen Ramsey's face mask was clearly grabbed. Mike also discussed working with his colleagues Joe Buck and Troy Aikman. Aikman left Fox to go to ESPN and Mike was in the booth with those guys a lot including the Super Bowl. I asked Mike about being on camera with over 100 million people watching. We had a great laugh on that one! The main topic of conversation though is officiating on the youth level and it was very interesting to hear Mike's reasons for officials quitting after one or two years. Mike started a foundation called Battlefields to Ballfields and he has done a great job giving some of our veterans a second career. Mike gave great insights on what is needed to have sports officials truly want to stick around!

Grant's Rant: 3-11-22 Big Game James Harden Not Mar 11, 2022

Show notes

Last night the Nets went into Philadelphia and embarrassed the 76ers. Ben Simmons didn't play, but was in attendance and got booed all night. James Harden did what he does a lot....disappear in big games. Harden was 3-17 and didn't make a two point basket. The Nets if healthy and Ben Simmons getting on the floor soon could be a tough out in the playoffs.

The Lakers lost to the lowly Houston Rockets last night? Really? Enough with the excuses. The Lakers stink, plain and simple!

Grant's Rant: 3-9-22 A Gambling No-No Mar 09, 2022

Show notes

The NFL suspended Falcons WR Calvin Ridley for making parlay bets on NFL games including the Falcons. An NFL investigation found the bets occurred in November when Ridley was away from the team due to mental health issues. Games weren't affected from Ridley's bets, but bottom line is you can't have that! Players can not bet on their league and their teams. Period! Why are so many critical of the league's decision? Just because they make millions of dollars from gambling sites? This is really pretty simple to me. Don't bet on your sport!Grant's Rant: 3-9-22 A Gambling No-No

Episode 149: Dubious Sports Records Mar 08, 2022

Show notes

After seeing the Sacramento Kings suffer another embarrassing loss last night at the hands of the Knicks it made me think of dubious sports records. The Kings have secured their 16th straight losing season which is now an NBA record. The team also holds the record for most consecutive road losses with 43. On today's episode I talk about a few of the other dubious team records in sports. My rant is yes you guessed it, on the Kings pathetic loss last night!

Grant's Rant: Another Kings Meltdown Mar 08, 2022

Show notes

The Kings gave up 83 second half points and lost to the Knicks last night, It didn't matter that the Knicks had lost 11 of 13, they were going against a gutless squad that lacks pride. It would be one thing if the Kings were trying to tank, but they're not. Coach Alvin gentry is trying to win every game, which actually makes things look even worse if that's possible!
