Rock Your Middle-Aged Bod with with The Wonder Women Coach Michelle MacDonald and her Mom Train with Joan Jul 30, 2023
    Show notes

Discover the groundbreaking secrets behind coach Michelle MacDonald's macro-based nutrition, dynamic strength training, and empowered coaching programs.

You will hear from Joan, Michelle's incredible mother, who embodies the true essence of her mission. She has shattered age-related barriers and completely transformed her body and lifestyle, defying expectations and achieving jaw-dropping results. Her story alone will inspire and motivate you to take charge of your own life.

During this talk show, you'll learn how to embrace a training and eating method that improves your health and supercharges your lifestyle. These two powerhouses will guide you through their Wonder Woman program, revealing the secrets to unlocking potential.

Coach Michelle MacDonald is the founder and visionary behind The Wonder Women group. In her decade of coaching in the fitness industry, it became apparent that there was a gap between the coaching of female physique athletes versus that of lifestyle clients.
This gap was especially true for women in the over 40 categories. Michelle realized that alone she could not help as many women on her own as she would with a team. In 2020, Michelle brought on three coaches and started The Wonder Women. Since then, the team has grown to a group of 10+ coaches and growing.

At TWW, coaches work with lifestyle clients in a very similar manner as athletes. All clients learn how to follow macro-based nutrition plans, improve form in the gym, use progressive overload to achieve incredible results, and utilize various cardio techniques to help drive progress. There is no ‘dumbing-down’ of any of the tools to create physique change. The assumption is that a woman of any age, whether she’s 18 or 80, is just as capable of mastering a few simple methodologies as an athlete. She can achieve incredible success by transforming her body, and along with it, her mindset. Coaches also give clients a lot of support through weekly coaching calls, daily communication through the TrueCoach app, personalized feedback on workouts daily, and weekly check-ins. At TWW, coaches know their clients and take the utmost pride in helping them achieve their personalized goals. Whether you are an absolute beginner with limitations or a more advanced athlete, TWW coaches have you covered. TWW coaches also have a wide range of programming, from bodyweight and bands to barbells and machine work. They can tailor your workouts based on your specific fitness and performance goals, travel schedule, and equipment list. TWW coaches specialize in taking beginners and helping them master movement patterns and strength gains through a step-by-step approach to programming. If you’re an advanced athlete, we will help you get even better!

These are our core beliefs and mission that drive our coaching and platform:

    • We believe in women empowering women.
    • We believe that the female body can thrive at any age. It does not matter if you are 18 or 80. You can still live your best life through abundance, health, and wellness.
    • We believe intelligent, outcome-based coaching is the correct way to guide women. Women are brilliant, so there is no need to dumb things down. We also believe in looking at all data to correctly guide and coach each woman to her full genetic potential.
    • We believe in macro-based nutrition customized to the individual. We are all different, and we do not believe that the same plan works for everyone or every goal.
    • We believe in educating our clients about their bodies and how they work so that women are confident and empowered to take care of their bodies.
    • We believe in integrity, truth, and honest introspection. With the right mindset, anything is possible.

Menopause in the Workplace; Whisper Culture spotlight on Hong Kong and Singapore Jul 17, 2023
    Show notes

In this episode we're joined by four women living and working in Asia. From the former CEO of Visa to three women who are pioneering work in menopause and FemTech in Asia, these leaders have a lot to say when it comes to being the change for the change. We're joined by Lindsay Davis, Founder & Co-CEO, FemTech Association Asia, Maaike Steinebach, Co-CEO, FemTech Association Asia, Lisa Tarquini, Founder, The Menopause Space and Valery Tan, Co-Founder, Surety.
The stigma around menopause in the workplace is real. This article from Harvard Business Review illuminates some fascinating research that we should all take to heart. One big insight is that women who share that they are going through menopause are seen as more credible.
"We asked more than 240 full-time workers to imagine that they were attending a meeting in which a female, middle-aged colleague was observed having a hot flash: She was visibly uncomfortable, flushing, fanning herself, and wiping sweat from her face. In one scenario, when a coworker asked how she was doing, she said, “I’m ok, just warm,” while in the other scenario, she replied, “I’m ok, it’s just that menopausal time of life.” When the woman openly disclosed that her symptoms were caused by menopause, she was seen as more confident, stable, and leader-like than when she claimed to be “just warm.”'
If that's not a call to action to be open and vulnerable, we don't know what is. Join the community and get updated on upcoming live shows at https://thisishysterical.com/

Estrogen REALLY Matters! with Dr. Avrum Bluming and Dr. Carol Tavris Jul 09, 2023
    Show notes

We’re diving head first into a necessary and energetic discussion about a topic that has stirred the medical world: hormone replacement therapy (HRT). HRT is both a medical and feminist issue and we’re creating a call to action for all women to educate ourselves in order to advocate for ourselves.

As with many of the experts we’ve connected with in our menopause community, Avrum Bluming and Carol Tavris didn’t set out to be activists. These leaders were compelled by the shift in culture around treating women with symptoms of perimenopause as a result of the groundbreaking research done by the Women’s Health Initiative (WHI). Overnight the perception of HRT transformed dramatically, and stopped being prescribed.

Bluming and Tavris are joining us to address the exaggerated claims made by the Women's Health Initiative and shed light on the overlooked benefits of HRT, all while ensuring that the specter of breast cancer risk remains low.
    AVRUM BLUMING, MD

Avrum Bluming received his MD from the Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons. He spent four years as a senior investigator for the National Cancer Institute and for two of those years was director of the Lymphoma Treatment Center in Kampala, Uganda. He organized the first study of lumpectomy for the treatment of breast cancer in Southern California in 1978, and for more than two decades he has been studying the benefits and risks of hormone replacement therapy administered to women with a history of breast cancer. Dr. Bluming has served as a clinical professor of medicine at USC and has been an invited speaker at the Royal College of Physicians in London and the Pasteur Institute in Paris. He was elected to mastership in the American College of Physicians, an honor accorded to only five hundred of the over one hundred thousand board-certified internists in this country.

    CAROL TAVRIS, PhD
Carol Tavris received her PhD in social psychology from the University of Michigan. Her books include Mistakes Were Made (But Not by Me), with Elliot Aronson; Anger: The Misunderstood Emotion, and The Mismeasure of Woman. She has written articles, op-eds, and book reviews on topics in psychological science for a wide array of publications — including the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times Book Review, the Wall Street Journal, and the TLS — and a column for Skeptic magazine. She is a fellow of the Association for Psychological Science and has received numerous awards for her efforts to promote gender equality, science, and skepticism.
