    13. Helping Your Picky Eater with Alisha Grogan Jan 10, 2022
    Show notes

If you have a picky eater at home, you are definitely not alone. Many parents worry about what their child is eating, how little they seem to eat, or whether mealtimes will always feel this stressful.

In this episode, Allison sits down with pediatric occupational therapist Alisha Grogan to talk about what picky eating really means, why it happens, and the simple strategies that can help expand your child's food choices over time.

They also discuss an important distinction: not all picky eating is the same. Some children go through a typical phase, while others may have underlying challenges that make eating genuinely difficult. Understanding the difference can help parents know when to stay the course and when to seek support.

You'll walk away with practical, realistic tools you can start using right away, without pressure, power struggles, or short-order cooking.

    In this episode, you'll learn:
    • The difference between typical picky eating and more serious feeding challenges

    • Why picky eating often starts between ages one and two

    • How constant snacking can actually reduce your child's appetite

    • Why hiding vegetables can backfire (and what to do instead)

    • The importance of giving kids control at the table

    • How to build a structure that supports healthy eating habits

    • When picky eating is something to watch more closely

    • Why early support can make a big difference

    12. New Year Habits Jan 03, 2022
    Show notes

Happy New Year! It's that time of year - time to hang up that calendar and start those new year's resolutions. A couple years ago, Allison ditched the idea of resolutions and shifted her focus to setting quarterly habit goals. She's found it to be much easier to stay motivated for a quarter rather than a full year. Now, instead of one fresh start per year, she gets four! She's found success with this method and is sharing her process with her listeners. In this episode, she'll share how her habit goals have progressed quarter by quarter and which habits she is working on now for the upcoming quarter.

If you're looking for techniques to help your baby get more nighttime sleep and/or you're trying to get a longer first stretch of sleep yourself, chances are you've tried or are considering trying a dream feed. Virtually all of us know someone who swears the dream feed was key to getting their baby sleeping through the night. Sometimes it works. In fact, Allison often recommends it as a strategy to try before babies are 12 weeks old.

In today's episode, Allison will walk you through the risks with these feedings as babies mature. Tune in to hear Alison's full advice on dream feeds for your baby, both before the 12 week mark and after.

She'll give you step-by-step instructions for setting up the sleep environment for your baby or young child, and how to handle this fear with your child, no matter their age. 7. Putting Your Oxygen Mask On First Nov 29, 2021
    Show notes

Although her focus is on improving children's sleep, Allison cares as much about the health and well-being of moms as she does about the health and well-being of their babies. Moms matter. You matter. And it's important to remember that you can't take care of all those around you if you haven't first taken good care of yourself. In this episode, Allison is going to share what happened to her when she decided to put her own oxygen mask on first. Her decision to prioritize herself has led her on a nearly two year health journey. She is sharing her own personal experience in hopes that all her listeners will consider putting their oxygen masks on as we prepare to enter a new year.

Allison's health journey has given her several "a-ha" moments about her own wellness, and given her opportunities to educate her daughters about listening to their bodies about their health, too. She feels strongly that taking better care of herself has allowed her to be a better mom each day. She's asking all moms to take twenty minutes today to set themselves up for better health and wellness in 2022. Listen in to hear her advice on how to do just that.

Allison knows listeners will relate to the challenges they faced. Even after they had a plan in place, there were bumps along the way. We know you'll enjoy hearing their conversation. And we hope it'll help you and your partner make your own plan for this holiday season and beyond.
