Ep. 113 Married At First Sight Update and Controversial Review & Sexless in the City Author Kat Harris Dishes on Dating, Singleness, and Healthy Biblical Sexual Ethics Mar 29, 2021
    Show notes

We are SUPER excited to share with you Doug’s chat with boss-babe, Kat Harris! She is the host of The Refined Collective Podcast, and Co-Founder of the online publication The Refined Woman. She coaches and equips women all over the world in dating, relationships, singleness, sexuality, faith and how to build a renewed and healthy biblical sexual ethic rooted in freedom, truth and grace as opposed to the oh-so-common shame and fear narratives so many experienced growing up in evangelical culture. She is also an author (spoiler alert, her first book Sexless in the City will hit bookstores April 2021) and she has also been a full-time photographer for the last decade with her work featured in: Vanity Fair, GQ, Forbes, People, Who What Wear, US Weekly, Glamour UK, and more. Ultimately, her vision is for women to know their beauty, identity, worth and value and to experience untapped freedom and joy in their lives regardless of their relationship status.

Before Doug brings Kat on to have some serious REAL talk, Doug’s mom Bonnie shares her thoughts on this EXPLOSIVE season of MAFS and Doug and Jamie talk about celebrating their 7 year anniversary.

05:39 - Welcome back, Bonnie Hehner, to talk all about MAFS!

20:58 - Welcome to HMCP, Kat!

21:43 - Let’s start with having you tell everyone about yourself?

23:18 - Was there a certain point in life where you put the mission upon yourself?

27:13 - Is there any certain age where you would say is a good time to bring up some of the taboo topics?

32:03 - I wanted to ask you about sexuality and your choice as a more progressive Christian to remain a virgin?

42:18 - Was there anything in the Bible that stated that masturbation is a sinful act?

49:40 - What was your first so-called sin? Afterwards, is it more of you beating yourself up or is it just feeling guilt or shame and how do you overcome that?

52:11 - Can you share why its not a bad thing and shouldn’t have a negative connotation to being single?

58:40 - Do you believe in “the one?”

1:02:34 - Have you ever felt pressured sexually in a situation and what would you say to someone who didn’t want to have sex but their partner was guilting them?

1:04:37 - How can one practice consent outside of the bedroom and what are ways you can teach kids about consent and other aspects so that when they are older they kind of understand the meaning?

1:07:38 - Question from Jamie: How can we move forward in a society where unfortunately victim-blaming is almost the norm?

39:56 - Jamie asks, when people say that their children are too young to talk about race or they don’t see color, what is your response?

43:41 - Jamie asks, if I am a momma, white, black, gray, yellow, whatever and I want to teach my kid about racism, what are some steps that I could take to ensure that my child is growing up with more of an open mind?
