Jereshia Hawk on Connections + Conversations that Convert Jul 21, 2020
    Show notes

Are you making consistent income selling your services?

Jereshia Hawk, is an income strategist, business coach, and preacher of Truth. She teaches service-based business owners how to sell effectively, serve impeccably, and finally create consistent income to crush it online.

Jereshia was a full-time corporate career leading multimillion-dollar engineering projects. Jereshia would go to meetings, and people assumed she was the assistant; it wasn't uncommon for people to ask her to grab them coffee.

A mistake is a mistake, and that's no problem, but this is part of a bigger picture. The lack of representation of women of color in leadership is APPALLING, and it's a BIG part of the reason Jereshia is here doing this work today.

While still in corporate, Jereshia started her coaching business, and Jereshia got more and more clear on who she served, how she helps, and what the benefits were. After three months of consistent income and a serious conversation with God, Jereshia quit her job and stepped fully into her business.

Now, Jereshia lives a life of freedom. Jereshia lives a life where she doesn't have to look at her bank account to decide what kind of experience she will have. Instead, Jereshia decides the experience she wants and works backward from that. Because reverse engineering is what having a business allows you to do– it will enable you to choose what you want, embrace who you are, and create the life you desire.

In this episode, Jereshia brings the HEAT. We have a robust conversation about selling. (Spoiler alert: You do not need a sales page to sell!) In reality, you need to create connection + conversations. We dig deep into the unique barriers that women and women of color face in corporate settings. Plus, we speak about why we need to be willing to do the work and how Jereshia utilizes ad campaigns and selling through direct messages.

She left her successful job as a Hollywood agent at 25 to pursue a life she could be passionate about . . . but it did not come easily. After being inspired by her own unexpected challenges and experiences, she realized her journey was indeed her destination.

In 2005, she wrote her first book 20 Something 20 Everything and then The 20 Something Manifesto in 2008. In such a pivotal moment in history, I choose to look to the leaders and teachers that have paved the way for change with compassion, faith and love.

Tim Storey, a man I am honored to call a dear friend and one of my greatest teachers, is a perfect example of this. Tim leads with love and faith in all things, and offers such radical empathy in the face of all that he has experienced as a Black man in this country.

Tim joined me a few weeks back for an incredible conversation on IG live. We talked about everything from radical empathy, to being a leader wherever you are, to how to overcome prejudice with grace and love, instead of fear and hate.

Amber Lilyestrom on Reaching for the Root of Real Change Jun 16, 2020
    Show notes

In what feels like the mass and collective chaos of today's world, it can be easy to keep our focus on everything and everyone else.

It is no secret that we are living in a different world today than we were 3 months ago- one that is more awake, more vigilant, more aware and more activated + polarized than ever before. It's easy to keep our focus outward on the problem, but doing so is not a way to get to the solution.

In today's solo episode, I'm speaking on what it means to get to the ROOTS of change, and why radical personal responsibility is more important in this moment than it ever has been.

I truly believe that we can't enact change in our external world, if we don't first begin with seeing what needs to be changed in ourselves.

Be sure to grab some paper and a pen for some journal prompts at the end of the episode (or look ahead in the show notes for them!) The world needs us now, in this moment, to show up for it- let's get started.

    In This Episode You'll Learn:

    • The state of our world and how I am personally navigating these times [ 0:40 ]
    • How to get in touch with how we're individually feeling and getting to the root causes [ 2:19 ]
    • What this moment in time is offering us [ 6:49 ]
    • The Importance of radical personal responsibility right now [ 11:59 ]
    • What I've noticed in other's response to the Black Lives Matter movement [ 14:50 ]
    • Why the awareness of our own actions/inactions is so important [ 19:42 ]
    • Things we all need to be reminded of right now [ 23:57 ]
    • Prompts for you to dive deeper [ 28:20 ]
      • What triggers are arising for me today and where are they tethered?
      • Why am I trying to over control this?
      • What do I believe the control is going to save me from?
      • Where have I been showing up as a victim or a co-dependent?
      • Where is my guilt leading me to not be helpful, and actually more harmful?
      • What would happen if I decided to step into my personal leadership?
      • What does radical personal responsibility look like for me today?
      • What is my inner oppressor telling me?
      • What do I know that I need to do in order to get out from under that rule?
      • What does my inner activist want me to do today?
      • What does she need, in order for me to be able to do that?

    Soul Shifting Quotes:

    • "We teach what we need to develop."
    • "Nothing changes until we change first."
    • "We don't get free until we understand what it is we're trying to free ourselves from."
    • "We must go back to the roots, it's the only way."
    • "Recognize the ways in which the victimhood experiences of our past are rippling into the new experiences of our present."
    • "Being a part of the solution is going to require radical self-care."
    • "If the whole world is a mirror for our own personal experiences, we must look at the places where we hold ourselves in bondage."

Jeanine Staples on Generating Our Personal Liberation Projects Jun 09, 2020
    Show notes

In light of the current social justice movement + Revolution for the liberation of Black American's, I have decided to re-release some of the most impactful and enlightening conversations I have had on the podcast with Black women and men.

These are conversations that have educated and inspired listeners over the years, and my hope is that now that an even brighter light is being shone upon the issues covered in these conversations- they will continue to deepen our understanding of the current tasks at hand.

As many of you know, Jeanine Staples is a force to be reckoned with, and a woman I have called a friend and teacher for years. She was one our most talked about 2019 Ignite Your Soul Summit speakers, and the work she is doing in the world is unparalleled. We had this conversation back in 2017, and white supremacy and white privilege were two of the many topics we covered back then, making this a really powerful discussion to bring back into the light today.

Jeanine stunned the world (and me) with her TED Talk, "How To Die Peacefully", when she challenged the notion that humans are born, they live and then they die. No- Jeanine believes we are born and then we die a thousand tiny deaths. She claims, we can only learn to live, when we learn to die those deaths peacefully.

… and this is just what I learned before our conversation.

Dr. Jeanine Staples is the Associate Professor of Literacy and Language, African American Studies, and Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies at Penn State University. She is the founder of "The Supreme Love Project" , a movement which seeks to embolden marginalized people to heal their souls and liberate themselves. Not to mention, she is a genius, a soul excavator, a humanist and an all around "Be Your OWN Hero", kind of Wonder Woman.

I am beyond thrilled and honored to share this conversation with you. I just know that these words will touch you in a way that could literally shift the way you live your life, today- if you let them.

So, grab a notebook for this one, sit down, and get ready to let it all sink in to your soma (how Jeanine refers to our bodies) and your souls. I hope you find this conversation as powerful as I do.

In This Episode You Will Learn:
    • How our to heal our soul terrors and begin our own Personal Liberation Project
    • Why seeking external affirmation can only lead to suffering
    • What it means to "Go Deeper"
    • The truth about our conditioned fear of experiencing pain
    • How to teach our children to understand their body and their pain
    • How your unconscious beliefs about money hold you back from being free
    • What it means to own your womanhood
    • What your "lover identity" is
    • How to begin to stand up for social injustices and become a voice for for the voiceless
    Soul Shifting Quotes:
    • "My generation of terror was so complete and so huge, I didn't have that ability to bide my time and create a status quo. I had to break."
    • "I was at what I thought was my bottom. And the voice of God, the Holy Spirit said… "Go deeper."
    • "There's so many of us who run from pain. It's suffering that we need to cease, not pain. Suffering is this long term uninterrupted source of despair without hope. That's what we need to move away from. But pain, pain is actually what we need to generate bigger emotional muscle. To grow the capacity to go deeper."
    • "Let your child get attuned to their body. Because their bodies are instruments for their emotionality."
    • "Our salvation and our liberation project would not exist, unless there was something we were in bondage to. And that bondage is your pain. Best to become really enamored with it."
    • "You can only be satiated from the inside out."
    • "Do I feel real? Or do I feel like I am wearing labels and descriptions that had been given to me."
    • "I had to really do the work of saying, I am not the woman I want to be. I am not the woman I say I am. And I want to be congruent. I want to BE that person, and not perform that person.
    • "Your interior life is the precedent to any other exterior attachment or endeavor that you want to take part of."

Tajci Cameron on Navigating Life Transitions May 26, 2020
    Show notes

What is your path, and how does it serve others?

My good friend and soul sister, Tatiana "Tajci" Cameron, is an award-winning music artist, published author, inspirational speaker, and certified transformational and spiritual life coach.

She has many passions and is dedicated to helping others while also creating an enriched life for herself and her three sons. When Tajci is not on the road performing gigs, she volunteers with local organizations dear to her heart, spends time with loved ones (often involving music!), and collaborates with other artists to bring creative projects to life.

In this episode, Tajci discusses her transformation from Croatian pop star to an inspirational speaker and spiritual life coach. Tajci needed to be really honest with herself by acknowledging the nudge of her soul to find the courage and leave something she worked extremely hard for.

We talk about showing up every single day as ourselves and why the end goal always needs to be service. Over the course of 7 years they grew the company into a highly successful consulting firm, offering guidance on IT and business strategies, and employing more than 60 consultants. Together, Sandra and her husband led their team in supporting clients operating across the globe, specifically in North America, Europe and Africa.

Sandra understands that stories of inspiration have the power to shape lives. During her studies at Columbia University, she was captured by the ability of documentary film to tell complex and multi-faceted narratives with sensitivity and depth.

Sandra's most recent project PLUS!, a documentary about the plus-size fashion industry, was highly regarded for its wit and energy and won her a 2016 Gracie Award. She was also awarded first prize in the NBC Sports CPTR'D Contest for Queens & Knights, her profile of the Gotham Knights – an inclusive rugby team in New York City, which she co-directed and produced.

The concept for Ndini was born from Sandra's desire to support and empower the young women in her life, having endured a personal struggle to find representation in the media that celebrated true African potential. Still feeling as though the narratives are restricted, Sandra hopes to provide access to the untold stories of exceptional African women that will resonate, inspire and ignite strength.

In this episode, Sandra describes the inspiration behind her Woman on Fire Summit and reveals how she navigates fear. Then, Sandra dives deep into her story and explains how she uses her words to inspire others.
