It's almost sacrilege to speak up against the dangers of climate change, but Greg has looked at the raw data and thinks it's actually important to question the mainstream.

    Key Takeaways:

[3:00] We've heard there's a coming ice age, then global warming, and now it's climate change. What's really going on?

[7:33] Warming would do a lot of different things to our planet, are all of them bad?

[11:35] Glacial melt contributes to the rise of oceans, but it's been happening since the 1800s, before we started pumping massive quantities of CO2 into the atmosphere

[16:20] It's hard to tell who to believe when it comes to climate facts, so Greg went back to the raw data to decide for himself

HS 458 FBF: The U.S. Multi-Trillion Dollar Debt with Craig Smith Feb 15, 2019
    Show notes

Today's Flash Back Friday comes from Episode 89, originally published in April 2012.

Join Jason Hartman and Craig R. Smith, Chairman of Swiss America Trading Corporation, for a discussion of the U.S.'s monetary policy, distorted pricing, creating money out of thin air, the outrageous national debt, inflation, and more. Craig says he is thoroughly convinced that governments around the world will print their way out of debt and it will destroy the middle class. He is very concerned about the current state of things unless politicians take a different stand. Craig also talks about how the gold and silver industry is unregulated and encourages investors to be fully aware of the risks and costs associated with buying coins. Big runups in gold have brought the crooks out, and Craig highly recommends investors do their homework before investing with a company, including being in business for more than ten years, a solid delivery policy, etc. Jason and Craig also discuss gold and silver manipulation by Central Banks, in which banks can go in to the markets and buy or sell large possessions of gold. Gold and silver are a threat to the fiat money system, so the banks are antagonistic of the markets. Lastly, Craig touches on the subject of hyperinflation, relating how past tools to fight inflation no longer work because it would cripple the economy. Sadly, Craig feels the only way out of our unbelievable national debt is a total collapse or a systematic collapse by inflating currency slowly over a long period of time.

The Swiss America Trading Corporation is an investment firm specializing in U.S. gold and silver coins. Mr. Smith founded the company in 1982 out of a bedroom in his home with $50.00. It has since grown into one of the largest and most respected firms in the industry known for its dedication to consumer education and safety. Craig is an expert in many forms of tangible assets including oil, precious metals and United States numismatic coins. He's a student of history and author of four books, The Inflation Deception: Six Ways Government Tricks Us… And Seven Ways to Stop It! (7/11), Crashing the Dollar: How to Survive a Global Currency Collapse (10/10), Black Gold Stranglehold (11/05) and Rediscovering Gold in the 21st Century (8/01). Mr. Smith is sought after by national media for his insights on breaking news because he instantly engages audiences with his common-sense analysis of major political and economic trends. He is a former columnist for Worldnetdaily.com, and writes economic columns for Swissamerica.com Mr. Smith does not go to Washington D.C. often, but when he does he always comes back with a fresh perspective on why self-government is key to solving our modern crises – not more government spending. Craig understands that fellow Americans want solid answers to the tough questions, having hosted two national talk radio shows during the 1990s: "America Talks" and "World Economic Perspective." Mr. Smith's free market economic worldview offers Americans a breath of fresh air amid today's failed 'big government' approach. He believes we need a revival of self-government and free market principles to help rebuild the American economy; unlike the current administration's belief in multi-trillion dollar "cradle-to-grave" government dependence.

On this episode, Jason Hartman interviews expert interrogator, Greg Hartley, author of How to Spot a Liar: Why People Don't Tell the Truth…and How You Can Catch Them. HS 452 FBF: How to Save Your Home, Business and Life by Peter Yanev Jan 25, 2019
    Show notes

Today's Flash Back Friday comes from Episode 33, originally published in September 2010.

Jason Hartman talks with Peter Yanev who has more than forty years of experience in earthquake and structural engineering, and risk management. In 1981 he co-founded EQE International, a global risk management provider, and grew the company to 750 professionals before leaving in 2001. He currently advises organizations worldwide, including engineering firms, the World Bank, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the University of California, Berkeley. A former president of the Northern California chapter of the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute, Yanev has performed more than one hundred earthquake investigations, has published extensively, and is a frequent media commentator on natural disasters. He holds degrees in structural and earthquake engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He lives in Orinda, California.

Some topics covered in this episode are: Supplies of food and water is not preparedness – safety is of course a concern but the real problem is what happens to your home, business, and investment. What can you as a homeowner do? What about the small business owner? Is insurance the right solution? Should you retrofit? Or do both? How can a home or business owner do some simple risk planning to help understand their risk?

The same issues apply more to apartment and condo owners especially those who are buying in new buildings – do they understand that the code is not meant to protect their investment (or business) and that it only means the building won't kill you? Your building or home still might be destroyed. Do they understand that many new buildings are unsafe from a risk perspective? We can elaborate on what the code means and what people should know about it – specifically what you should know if you plan on building or investing in real estate (home, office, etc).

About the book Peace of Mind in Earthquake Country, the best-selling book which for thirty years has helped homeowners everywhere protect their properties and loved ones from the devastating effects of earthquakes, is now completely updated and greatly expanded. The new edition reflects the latest advances in earthquake science, engineering, and financial management techniques for homeowners, home buyers, and businesses in earthquake country.

HS 450 FBF: Neuro Leadership with Dr. David Rock Jan 19, 2019
    Show notes

Today's Flash Back Friday comes from Episode 80, originally published in March 2012.

Join Jason Hartman and co-founder and director of Neuro Leadership Institute, Dr. David Rock, as they explore conceptual issues of the brain as it pertains to work, such as focus, managing distractions, why our brains feel taxed, and how to maximize mental resources. Dr. Rock explains how being able to get a mental picture makes it easier to process and hold information, but when you can't come up with a mental picture, you're more likely to lose your train of thought or have more difficulty retaining connections, causing the brain more stress. Dr. Rock also discusses optimal times for scheduling work, meetings, and undisturbed workspace. He stresses that creative work needs a lot of space in the brain, as well as a lot of quiet. "Creative work first, urgent/important second, and everything else after," says Dr. Rock. Dr. Rock also shares the many types of quirks of the brain, such as a blue room with high ceilings increases creativity, or changing rooms actually makes it difficult to access memories formed in the previous room. His suggestion is that people need to create their own workspace. Additionally, he talks about the unconscious and conscious brain and how breakthrough moments tend to happen when trying to solve a difficult problem. The quiet brain is most important for solving problems. Dr. Rock delves into the five domains that the brain is always tracking. It is very important that we don't get a "threat" response in any of these domains because they activate the brain's pain network, leading to defensiveness.

David is the founder and CEO of Results Coaching Systems (RCS), which has operations in 15 countries across the globe. In his capacity as CEO, David works with Fortune 500 clients specializing in embedding internal coaching capacity within organizations to develop leaders, retain talent, improve performance, and change culture. David Rock is one of the thought leaders in the global coaching profession. The integrated coaching system he developed in the mid-90's has been taught to over 10,000 professionals in more than fifteen countries. He is the author of Personal Best, (Simon & Schuster, 2001), Quiet Leadership (Harper Collins, 2006), Coaching with the Brain in Mind (Wiley & Sons, 2009), and Your Brain at Work (Harper Collins), which was released in October 2009. In 2004, David founded the brain-based approach to coaching, which has gathered momentum as a theory base for coaching ever since. In collaboration with several leading neuroscientists, David is working to explain the neural basis of issues like self-awareness, reflection, insight and accountability. In 2006, he co-authored a feature article in strategy business magazine with neuroscientist Dr. Jeffrey Schwartz, called "The Neuroscience of Leadership", the most downloaded article of the year at the magazine. In September 2006, CIO magazine ran a cover story featuring David and Jeff's work called "The New Science of Change". In late 2006, David founded the NeuroLeadership Institute and Summit, a global initiative bringing neuroscientists and leadership experts together to build a new science of leadership development. David also co-created a complete coaching curriculum at New York University (SCPS) and is a guest lecturer at universities in five countries.
