Why Nobody Arrested Keffe D For FOURTEEN Years Aug 07, 2026
    Show notes

The Tupac Shakur murder trial is about to begin in Las Vegas, and the prosecution's case is unlike any other murder case in modern memory. The defendant allegedly got himself arrested by spending over a decade publicly describing his role in the killing.

Duane "Keffe D" Davis provided a proffer to the LAPD in 2008. He appeared on BET's "Death Row Chronicles." He published his account in a book. He gave interviews. In each one, he placed himself in the white Cadillac, described providing the gun, and detailed the motive — retaliation for a physical altercation at the MGM Grand hours before the shooting on September 7, 1996.

Las Vegas police had all of this by 2009. They did not charge Davis until September 2023 — fourteen years later. The arrest came after a grand jury indictment triggered in part by the publication of his own memoir.

Davis now claims innocence. He says he made up the entire story for financial gain. He has even claimed he was not in Las Vegas the night of the shooting — a statement that contradicts his own book, his own documentary, and his own words to police.

Defense attorney and former prosecutor Eric Faddis examines whether a jury can convict on confessions the defendant now calls fiction, and what a thirty-year gap does to a murder prosecution.

Bryan Kohberger May Have Just Signed His Death Warrant Aug 07, 2026
    Show notes

Bryan Kohberger pleaded guilty to murdering four University of Idaho students and took four life sentences without parole. The deal removed the death penalty. He signed every document. He confirmed under oath the plea was voluntary. Then thirteen months later, he filed a handwritten petition claiming he was coerced.

The timing is difficult to separate from the media cycle. His first public statement went to the New York Times the same weekend Netflix dropped its documentary. His petition echoes language from a book whose author says they never communicated.

But the legal question underneath the spectacle is real: can a defendant undo a guilty plea by claiming his own lawyers scared him into confessing? Idaho law requires manifest injustice — a standard legal experts call near-impossible to meet after sentencing, especially when the defendant endorsed the plea under oath.

The gamble is life and death. If the plea is withdrawn, the deal evaporates. Idaho has a firing squad. The state has signaled it will pursue the death penalty. The Goncalves family says they're ready.

Defense attorney and former prosecutor Eric Faddis breaks down the legal mechanics, the state's options, and whether Kohberger just made the worst strategic decision of his life.

Did Lindsay Clancy's Prosecution Just Make Her Case?! Aug 07, 2026
    Show notes

Plymouth Superior Court is hearing the Lindsay Clancy murder trial, and the prosecution's first week of testimony has produced evidence that cuts both ways. The state wants this jury to believe Lindsay Clancy was calculating enough to plan the deaths of her three children on January 24, 2023. The defense says she was a woman drowning in psychiatric crisis who did everything right — and the system failed her anyway.

The toxicologist testified that Lindsay was on thirteen medications simultaneously, all at therapeutic levels individually. The prosecution frames that as proof she was medically managed and functioning. The defense frames it as proof she was buried under a pharmaceutical avalanche no single doctor was tracking.

Then the prosecution's own expert made an admission on cross-examination that could haunt the state's case for the rest of this trial: a person experiencing psychosis can appear calm, cooperative, and coherent. The jury heard that from the state's witness, not the defense's.

Lindsay's own journal was read aloud. She wrote about drowning. She wrote about wanting to die. The question is whether those entries prove she was lucid — or prove she was in freefall.

Defense attorney and former prosecutor Eric Faddis breaks down what the prosecution proved in its opening days, what it accidentally handed to the defense, and who's actually winning this trial.

Bryan Kohberger Thanked WHAT Community From Prison?! Aug 06, 2026

His first public statement in three and a half years includes a direct appeal to the people who have been defending him online. He thanks them. He knows they exist. He is recruiting from a segregated prison cell.

Shavaun Scott joins Tony Brueski to examine the full Kohberger statement — the work of fiction claim, the my truth construction, the accusation against his own defense team, and the four names that never appear.

Nancy Guthrie's Kidnapper Went From Ransom to Apology Aug 06, 2026
    Show notes

The first note demanded millions. The second one apologized. Linguists believe the same person wrote both. Investigators confirm the same IP address. But something changed between the spreadsheet and the sympathy card.

Shavaun Scott joins Tony Brueski to break down the second note — the claim about her physical condition, the money left on the table, the phrase that ends it, and the question of whether this man was always going to walk away.

Did Nancy Guthrie's Kidnapper Know She Was Already Gone? Aug 06, 2026

The first ransom note demanded four million dollars. The second note says Nancy died shortly after she was taken. If the timeline holds, the demand went out while she was already gone.

Shavaun Scott joins Tony Brueski to walk through the first note line by line — the structure, the details, the language choices, and the question that hangs over every word: did he know?

What Kouri Richins Did With Her Best Friend’s Money Aug 06, 2026
    Show notes

Kouri Richins wrote herself bad checks. She allegedly forged her husband’s bank documents to get mortgage loans. She borrowed from more than twenty-five lenders and defaulted on most of them. And when the whole operation was about to collapse, prosecutors say she took forty-five thousand dollars from her closest friend and let that friend’s family get evicted from the house she’d promised them.

That’s not the murder case. Those are the twenty-six separate felony charges still pending against Kouri Richins in Summit County — filed while she was awaiting trial for poisoning her husband Eric with fentanyl. She’s been convicted on the murder. Life without parole. New trial denied. But prosecutors aren’t done.

The fraud case covers everything she was allegedly doing behind Eric’s back for years. The secret quarter-million-dollar line of credit she took out on his premarital home using a power of attorney. The real estate business she built with that money — a business that owed hard money lenders one-point-eight million dollars on the day Eric died and nearly five million the day after. The insurance policies she stacked. The prenuptial clause that made his death the only way she could access his business interests.

And the trust Eric quietly built with an estate planning lawyer to make sure Kouri could never touch what he’d worked for. She allegedly didn’t know about it until after he was gone. This episode lays out the financial architecture charge by charge and follows the pattern that prosecutors say connects the fraud directly to the murder.

Why Lindsay Clancy AND Kohberger's Cases Point At the Same Thing Aug 06, 2026

Two cases, one attorney, one conversation that covers both. The prosecution in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial built its first week around her best day, the 911 call, and a fourteen-second phone call. Bryan Kohberger Claims THIS Evidence Was Hidden From Him Aug 05, 2026
    Show notes

Bryan Kohberger says his defense team hid exculpatory evidence from him before he pleaded guilty. But reporting from PEOPLE shows a DNA expert hired by that same defense team tested the evidence in question — hair found in Ethan Chapin's hand — and determined it was consistent with Chapin's own hair. The finding was included in a June 2025 filing, one month before the plea.Bob Motta of Defense Diaries joins Tony Brueski to work through what the petition actually claims versus what the record shows. They cover where Kohberger's language came from, what the nine-page questionnaire and sworn colloquy mean for his chances, and why the Goncalves family — which opposed the plea deal from day one — is now on record welcoming a retrial and the return of the death penalty.Tony Brueski and criminal defense attorney Bob Motta of Defense Diaries.
