Can Patrick Clancy Sue the Creators Calling Him a Killer? Aug 14, 2026
    Show notes

TikTok creators are posting videos accusing Patrick Clancy of murdering his own children. They're calling him the next Chris Watts. They're claiming he pushed Lindsay out the window. Both the prosecution and Lindsay's own defense team agree that Lindsay killed the children — the only dispute is whether she was criminally responsible.

Patrick has become one of the most discussed figures on social media during the trial. Creators are scrutinizing his remarriage, analyzing his testimony, and building alternate narratives that contradict the evidence in court. He's not a public figure by choice. He's a father who lost three children and testified in the case that took them from him.

Defense attorney and former prosecutor Eric Faddis breaks down Patrick's legal options. Whether these accusations constitute defamation. Whether calling something a theory or asking questions protects a creator from liability. What the Alex Jones verdict means for content creators who build audiences on false claims about real people. Whether Patrick is a public or private figure in the eyes of the law. And the bottom-line question the audience wants answered: should he sue, can he win, and is it even worth it?

Why No Doctor Diagnosed Lindsay Clancy With Psychosis Before Her Children Died Aug 14, 2026
    Show notes

Thirteen medications. Daily messages to her nurse practitioner begging for changes. Journal entries describing intrusive thoughts she'd never had before and a desperate desire to get well. Not one clinician diagnosed Lindsay Clancy with postpartum psychosis before January 24, 2023.

Every provider who treated her documented anxiety and depression. The psychosis diagnosis came afterward, from a forensic psychiatrist working with the defense. Lindsay's attorney Kevin Reddington told the jury she heard voices that day — "This is your last chance" — and that the medical system failed to identify what was happening to her.

Reddington has spent three weeks in Plymouth Superior Court building that argument through cross-examination. He dismantled Lindsay's psychiatrist over fourteen telehealth-only sessions. He exposed gaps in her medical records. He read her journal entries aloud to the jury. The defense conceded on day one that Lindsay killed her children. The entire case turns on whether the jury believes she was someone else when it happened.

Defense attorney and former prosecutor Eric Faddis breaks down the defense's approach — what's working, where the diagnosis gap creates risk, and whether Reddington's strategy of putting the providers on trial can overcome the historical reluctance of juries to accept insanity defenses in cases involving children.

What the Prosecution's Psychiatrist Didn't Know About Lindsay Clancy Aug 14, 2026
    Show notes

The prosecution's psychiatric witness didn't know Lindsay Clancy had called a suicide hotline twice. Dr. Jennifer Tufts treated Lindsay through fourteen telehealth sessions in the months before her children died and told the jury she never observed psychosis. Defense attorney Kevin Reddington spent three hours on cross pulling apart that claim.

Tufts admitted she never met Lindsay face to face. She didn't have access to her complete medical record. She never requested hospital records. She received her board certification on the same day Lindsay started the intake process. The prosecution called her to establish that Lindsay was competent and sane. The cross-examination turned that testimony into the defense's strongest moment of the trial.

Defense attorney and former prosecutor Eric Faddis breaks down the prosecution's case three weeks in. Every provider the state has put on the stand has given the defense ammunition on cross. The nanny called Lindsay a wonderful mother. The pediatrician saw nothing wrong. Patrick Clancy described a Seroquel spiral and thirteen medications. The prosecution argues Lindsay planned the killings. The state's own evidence suggests a woman who was falling apart while her providers missed it.

Lindsay Clancy's Screening Score Went No Further Aug 14, 2026
    Show notes

A screening result is only worth something if it travels. Lindsay Clancy scored 23 out of 30 on a ten-question postpartum screen administered by a nurse practitioner in November 2022. Her outpatient psychiatrist testified she never requested records from other providers. McLean Hospital obtained none either.

Three children died in Duxbury on January 24, 2023. Every count drew a not guilty plea. The killings are not what the jury has to decide. Her attorney says postpartum psychosis and bipolar disorder are why she is not criminally responsible. Prosecutors argue she should be held criminally accountable for intentional acts.

Tony Brueski and psychotherapist Shavaun Scott run the full three-part conversation here.

The first part is the illness — how rare it is, how it moves between disorientation and clarity, and where psychosis parts company with psychopathy.

The second is the clinicians. Fourteen video appointments and no in-person visit. A McLean psychiatrist who testified she had encountered none of these cases. A patient who was herself a labor and delivery nurse and was taken at her word by everyone.

The third is bipolar disorder — raised by a nurse practitioner in 2022, ruled out by a psychiatrist for lack of mania, and recorded on the McLean discharge as major depressive disorder, severe, without psychotic features.

Shavaun credits what worked too, including a nurse practitioner who handed Clancy her personal cell number. Neither accepts liability in the civil suits.

The nurse practitioner who administered that screen, Julie Paul, launched South Shore Hospital's perinatal program in 2018 and saw Clancy for about ten days before leaving for another position. Clancy's lawsuit says a Columbia psychiatrist later diagnosed bipolar disorder with psychosis after an eight-hour evaluation.

Lindsay Clancy's Real Diagnosis Was Named And Ignored Aug 13, 2026
    Show notes

The most uncomfortable fact in the medical testimony is not that nobody thought of bipolar disorder. It is that somebody did.

Rebecca Jollotta, a psychiatric nurse practitioner at South Shore Health, testified she told Lindsay Clancy and her husband that Clancy might have an underlying bipolar disorder, months before the children died. She prescribed an antipsychotic used to treat it. She remained on antidepressant medication.

Clancy's plea on every one of the three first-degree murder counts is not guilty. Her children died in Duxbury on January 24, 2023. What happened is not the disputed part. Her lawyers argue the illness, not the woman, drove what happened, and that she is not criminally responsible. The Commonwealth's theory is intentional, rational conduct.

Psychotherapist Shavaun Scott joins Tony Brueski for the last of three conversations.

Dr. The bipolar question came up in December 2022 and Tufts testified she closed it, citing no mania. The signs she described looking for were euphoria, very high energy, and grandiosity. At McLean, staff testified they observed symptoms that could indicate bipolar disorder and discussed sleep loss tipping a person into hypomania, then discharged her with a diagnosis of major depressive disorder, severe, without psychotic features.

Shavaun explains what bipolar I is, why research puts the average diagnostic delay at six to ten years, and why depression is almost always what gets written down first. She takes on whether the textbook picture of mania describes a mother at home with an infant.

The antidepressant question gets an honest answer rather than a convenient one. The studies conflict, and a toxicology expert testified Clancy's drug levels were low.

Jollotta wrote to Clancy that everything she was describing sounded like postpartum depression. Clancy wrote back that starting new medications with side effects frightened her, and at another point that she could not keep going the way she was. Shavaun also covers why hypomania so rarely brings a patient through the door, since nobody schedules an appointment to report feeling capable and energetic.

Lindsay Clancy's Release Came Down To One Answer Aug 13, 2026
    Show notes

A psychiatric hospital decides a patient is safe to go home. Weeks later, three children are dead. In Lindsay Clancy's case, the psychiatrist who made that call later testified she had never treated a patient with postpartum psychosis.

Not guilty is the plea on all three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Cora, Dawson, and Callan at their Duxbury home. That much both sides accept. Reddington argues postpartum illness stripped her of criminal responsibility. Prosecutors maintain the killings were intentional and rational acts.

Psychotherapist Shavaun Scott joins Tony Brueski for the second of three conversations, and this one goes at the clinicians.

Dr. Alia Goodheart testified she had no concerns about Clancy's safety or anyone else's at discharge, and that Clancy had never stated any thoughts of harming another person. Asked how many women with postpartum psychosis she had treated, she paused and said she had not seen any.

Dr. Jennifer Tufts, who treated Clancy by video from September 2022 through the day before the children died, testified she did not obtain records from any other provider and did not have Clancy sign releases. She testified she was not certain how rare postpartum psychosis even is.

Shavaun works through what happens when a patient is herself a clinician. Clancy was a labor and delivery nurse, and every provider took her at her word.

The conversation does not run one direction. Shavaun credits the nurse practitioner who gave Clancy her personal cell number and called on a day off, and explains what separated that care from the rest.

The civil defendants deny they did anything wrong.

The five-day McLean stay ran from January 1 to January 5, 2023. Goodheart testified she wanted to keep observing Clancy's sleep after discharge, and that sleep deprivation can contribute to a manic episode. Tufts testified she had finished her residency in July 2022, a month before Clancy's first appointment with her.

Can Anyone Prove What Lindsay Clancy Heard? Aug 13, 2026
    Show notes

Nobody can play back what happened inside Lindsay Clancy's head on January 24, 2023. Her defense says a voice told her to kill her children and then herself. Prosecutors say she acted intentionally and rationally. A jury in Plymouth Superior Court has to choose between those readings.

Clancy has pleaded not guilty to three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Cora, Dawson, and Callan at their Duxbury home. Nobody in the courtroom disputes that she did it.

Psychotherapist Shavaun Scott joins Tony Brueski for the first of three conversations built to help a general audience understand what is actually being argued. Shavaun has more than thirty years in practice across trauma, anxiety, depression, and the psychology of violence.

She opens with prevalence. Researchers describe episodes that move between disorientation and complete lucidity within the same day.

The timing gets addressed head on. This condition usually arrives within days or weeks of delivery, and Callan was eight months old.

Shavaun untangles psychosis from psychopathy, two words the public treats as interchangeable and clinicians do not. She marks the boundary between an intrusive thought and a voice issuing instructions. She explains why a patient would hide the worst of it from the people treating her. And she takes on whether this illness damages a person's grip on right and wrong, which is the question the insanity defense actually turns on.

She is the author of Nightbird.

The trial is running in Plymouth Superior Court before Judge William Sullivan. Shavaun works through why a jury of twelve people who have never seen this condition is being asked to decide whether it was present, and what that asks of expert testimony on both sides.

Lindsay Clancy And Alex Murdaugh Both Have An Expert Problem Aug 13, 2026
    Show notes

Robin Dreeke spent a career at the FBI working out what people are not saying. That is the exact skill this combined cut needs. Tony Brueski runs listener questions on two very different cases past him in one sitting.

The Lindsay Clancy material is medical. Her outpatient psychiatrist finished residency in July 2022 and joined a private practice the month before Clancy became a patient. The McLean physician who cleared her to go home said she does not think she has treated a case of the condition at issue. Neither knew about two calls Clancy made to a crisis line.

The Alex Murdaugh material is paper. The state wants his own prior testimony read to a new jury. The defense wants a signed certification that the files have been searched again, and it wants DNA from under Maggie Murdaugh's fingernails sent to an outside lab before the state's analysts touch what is left.

Underneath both sits one behavioral question. When a professional testifies they saw nothing, how do you tell an absence from a blind spot?

Dreeke spent years assessing exactly that in counterintelligence interviews, where the useful signal was rarely in what a subject volunteered.

On all three first-degree murder counts, Clancy pleaded not guilty and is presumed innocent. Murdaugh's verdicts fell over what a court clerk said to jurors, and with them vacated he is presumed innocent at the retrial. Judge Debra McCaslin has tentatively set that trial for April 5, 2027.

Three segments, one conversation, and listeners running the agenda. If the mental health material is close to home for you, 988 connects you to someone trained.

Alex Murdaugh's Defense Set A Deadline For The State Aug 12, 2026
    Show notes

There is a limited amount of DNA left from under Maggie Murdaugh's left hand, and both sides want to test it first. Tony Brueski takes your questions on that fight with retired FBI Special Agent Robin Dreeke.

SLED previously determined the material belonged to an unknown, unrelated male, but did not identify him. The state uses STR analysis, which checks samples against law enforcement databases and cannot name someone who is not already in the system. The defense wants the reserve samples sent first to Othram, a Texas laboratory that runs SNP testing and forensic genetic genealogy, the approach that can build out a family tree from an unknown contributor.

In a July filing, Murdaugh's attorneys told the court something new. Prosecutors had just disclosed that reserve samples from two evidence items remain unprocessed, and that SLED wants to run repeat testing on them. Every test consumes material. The defense argues a retest risks exhausting the only sample capable of producing a name. Othram, they say, could finish in sixty to ninety days.

The same filing accuses SLED of mishandling the white T-shirt Murdaugh wore the night of the killings. Testing returned negative for human blood on the stained areas, and the shirt was later rendered unavailable for additional testing after a chemical enhancement agent was applied. The defense calls that a reason to doubt the agency's good faith. That is their allegation, not a court finding.

Prosecutors oppose the defense's access request. Judge Debra McCaslin decides the sequence. A July conference on the testing brought defense attorneys, prosecutors, SLED forensic scientists and Othram's chief executive into the same call.

The verdicts against him were reversed on appeal, and Murdaugh returns to trial presumed innocent. Robin Dreeke takes the mail on what a name under those fingernails would and would not prove.

Alex Murdaugh Testified Once And It's Coming Back Aug 12, 2026
    Show notes

The South Carolina Supreme Court did not only fault the clerk of court when it threw out Alex Murdaugh's convictions. The justices also flagged how much of the 2023 trial was spent on the money he stole. Tony Brueski takes your questions on what that means for the retrial with retired FBI Special Agent Robin Dreeke.

Prosecutors spent close to two weeks of the first trial on Murdaugh's financial crimes. That evidence was not tied to the murder charges directly. It was offered to establish motive: his thefts were about to be exposed, and the state argued the killings bought him sympathy and time.

Judge Debra McCaslin now decides how much of that comes in the second time. She has told the attorneys she knows nothing about the first trial and wants them complete when they explain it to her.

The state's newest filings run the other direction. Prosecutors moved to admit Murdaugh's own 2023 testimony at the retrial, renewed motions to exclude polygraph evidence and third-party guilt, requested a fresh review of digital evidence, and opposed the defense's push for independent DNA analysis.

Listeners are asking a sharp question about the arithmetic. If the financial evidence gets trimmed and the third-party door stays shut, what is the state walking into April 2027 with, and is it enough for twelve people who have never heard any of this.

Murdaugh has denied the killings of Maggie and Paul Murdaugh since 2021. His convictions were vacated, he awaits retrial, and he is presumed innocent. He pleaded guilty to dozens of financial crimes and remains in prison on those sentences.

Robin Dreeke handles the mail on motive, money, and what a jury actually does with a man's finances.
