#5: How to Have Boundaries with Jenn Bovee Jul 28, 2016
    Show notes

    www.thrive.how/podcast5

In this episode, I was honored to be joined by Jenn Bovee. Jenn is a Psychotherapist, Mindset Coach, Hypnotherapist and Spiritual Mentor. She is also a fellow writer for the Huffington Post.

This is a juicy episode. Jenn specifically addresses:

    • Parts of her personal journey, and how she came to learn the importance of boundaries
    • What exactly boundaries are
    • How you can identify your personal boundaries
    • The 3 different types of boundaries
    • Some of the traits of Empaths, and why boundaries are especially important for Highly Sensitive People

Jenn gives 3 specific sentence completions in the podcast that she has her clients complete as a way to identify their boundaries. Use these 3 prompts to jog you to write. Don't judge, but rather just let the pen flow:

    1. People may not ...
    2. I have the right to ...
    3. To protect my time and energy it is ok to ...

Perhaps one of my favorite parts of the podcast is how Jenn defines boundaries as "limits of what we are willing to accept and willing to give." I was always prone to thinking of boundaries about what I was willing to accept, so thinking about it being what I was also willing to give was a real ah-ha moment for me!

#3: How to Approach Personal Development from a Place of Already Being Enough Jul 28, 2016
    Show notes

    www.thrive.how/podcast3

In this episode I've answered an audience member's question - How do we let ourselves "be" in a culture that is telling us that we are not enough. We live in a culture that constantly tells us that we are not enough. How do we approach personal growth from a place of being enough without that being a contradiction?

I coach using positive psychology and mixing that with a touch of spirituality. I was drawn to positive psychology because it focuses on our strengths and what is good about us, rather than needing "fixing" us. It comes from a place of us all already being enough, and I believe we flourish more when we play to our strengths.

If you want to improve, first recognize your inherent worthiness. You don't need to "fix" yourself. This is a mindset and a way to approach the world. We are all worthy, and each and every one of us is as worthy as another. Because you went through a tough time doesn't make you any less worthy. We must start with believing this and working on our self worth.

Before you start on any journey of self-discovery or growth, start with recognizing your worthiness:

    3 Exercises I suggest:

    - Write a list of all of your strengths (What are you good at? What are your character strengths)

    - Ask people close to you what they perceive as 3 strengths you have

    - Write yourself a Love Note

Know that you are Right Where You Are Supposed to Be

We are where we are supposed to be. I think it is psychologically healthy to have faith and believe in something bigger than yourself. In my opinion life is a journey and we are each sent lessons. Life is about navigating these lessons and growing.

Be self-compassionate. Be kind to yourself. Treat yourself like you would your own best friend. How we speak to ourselves matters. Do your best to be aware of when you talk to yourself unkindly, and try to override that negative self-talk.

Recognize that there is no behind when it comes to personal growth. We all grow at the pace that we are ready to. You're not racing anyone. We are all walking our own paths, and comparison is irrelevant. You should have no other goal than being better than you were yesterday.

    * To Do: Mantra

Write a positive note, message or affirmation that you will see a couple.

e.g. - I am exactly where I am supposed to be.

Do what feels right for you - there is no one size fits all to personal growth

Society sells to us constantly that we are lacking. People want to us to believe that we are broken and can be fixed. But there isn't one set path to living a beautiful life. We are so unique. Don't fall into the trap of there being one Guru, or one Path to the good life.

Your growth needs to be driven from you. A coach can help, but the reality is that change can only ever come from you. I can't write a program to help you grow if you aren't willing to do the work. So you must follow what calls to you. So trust your gut, and do what interests you when it comes to personal growth.

    * To Do:

Start your personal development and growth purely through trusting your gut. You have to enjoy the journey, otherwise you won't stick with it.

I believe that if you really want to learn about yourself, grow and development, then you will always be driven to the things you need to help you do just that. Trust this. You are right where you are supposed to be. Trust that you are worthy, regardless of the outside world. There is nothing to prove.

Life is a journey. It should bring you joy, and so should your journey of personal development.

    #2: My Story Jul 28, 2016
    Show notes

This episode is all about My Story.

To jump over to my website for extensive show notes and links, click here: www.thrive.how/podcast2

Even though I don't like labels (I think we're much deeper than that) I gave it a go. In summary, I'm a New Zealander who lives in Houston. I'm a Mama and have 2 sons, a 4 yr old and 2 yr old. I am married to a wonderful man who happens to be American. I am also a life long soul-searcher and spiritual seeker. I have a Masters in Psychology. I also have degrees in Communications, Management and Organizational Psychology.

I started coaching when I was working as a Corporate Psychologist. In my consulting role I did Team Development, Leadership Development, a tonne of personality work, and Executive Coaching. I found that when working with people talking about their professional development and their personalities, you couldn't help but move into life coaching if you were really talking about personal fulfillment. We aren't robots and our lives and our jobs aren't separate things. So that was where my coaching career started.

That's a starting point, but you'll learn A LOT more about me from this episode.

#1: Introduction to Here to Thrive. What You Can Expect. Jul 28, 2016
    Show notes

I believe our lives are about growth and living up to our full potential. I don’t believe we are here to merely survive, I truly believe we are here to thrive. Here to Thrive: Tips for a Happier Life is a podcast to helping you do just that.

I’m a New Zealander living in the USA. I moved here in 2013 and currently call Houston, TX home. I started my coaching practice out of my deep desire to make this world a brighter place. That is my why. And I don’t think anyone would deny that the world could do with a giant dose of love right now.

Through this podcast I will share with you tools, resources and ideas that I hope will inspire you to live the happiest and brightest version of your own life.

Here to Thrive, the podcast, is a reflection of me. I have a background in a psychology, and a personal love for positive psychology or the Science of Happiness. I am also a deeply spiritual person, and discuss that more in episode 2. When I say spiritual, I don’t mean religious. I believe in connection with our soul-selves and living from a place of authenticity and alignment. I believe we are all searching for the deep sense of meaning and fulfillment.

Each podcast will have a focus on practical points that you can take back and apply to your own life. Then every 5th episode I’ll also be hosting a guest who I feel can add something a little extra to the conversation.

Here to Thrive; the podcast – will be full of tips, ideas and discussions that will all be focused on helping you live the happiest life you can. I hope you enjoy it! Kate xx
