215// Why We Get Triggered by Our Kids (& How To Do Better) with Jen Lumanlan Jan 17, 2023
    Show notes

Parenting is overwhelming and unpredictable. Even in the best of times we can find ourselves reacting instead of responding to our kid's big emotions or perceived disobedience. We know that we are in charge of our internal landscape but often that feels much easier said than executed. Today Felica chats with host of Your Parenting Mojo, Jen Lumanlan about how we can identify and tame our internal triggers to create healthier relationships with our kids. This work often involves delving into our personal BIG T or little t trauma as well as "trauma" that is less obvious; we discuss how we can work with these triggers and how to do so in a safe space. We walk through 13 common reasons our kids "don't listen" and strategies for navigating this as well!

214 // Compassion: Where Love Meets Suffering and Remains Love Jan 10, 2023
    Show notes

We all go through hard times. People we love experience hard things. What do we do when we are faced with the suffering of others? It can be easy to either push it away because it is too painful to see, or we can go the other way and fully immerse ourselves in a way that is more enmeshment than compassion.

In this episode, Taralyn shares some personal experiences that have recently invited her to delve deep into what it means to be compassionate. She uses the work of Brene Brown, Kristin Neff, and Chris Germer to define what compassion is, what it is not, and how to use the power of true compassion to love people in the middle of their suffering.
