The Gut is an important key to our neurological health and vision Jul 26, 2015
    Show notes

This summer I attended two major alternative meetings, SopMed, (Society of Oxidative and Photonic Medicine) meeting in Utah and Membrane Medcine Biomedical Meeting in Las Vegas. In both meetings important information was presented on research dealing with the human gut and disease, especially neurological diseases.

There has been a lot of talk about the importance of the gut (our intestinal bacteria) and health. I previously wrote about this in the article called, “The Gut as a source of disease”
    https://healingtheeye.com/gut.html

At these two meetings new information was presented that is critical for you to understand if you are serious about your health.

But now I am beginning to understand how important a healthy gut is for out neurological system and our vision! I would like to share this new information with you and recommend a simple way on how you can strengthen your gut.

    First some background information.

The bacteria in your body outnumber your cells by 10 to 1! A healthy gut has over 30 trillion bacteria that live harmoniously in our gut and helps to maintain our health.

The health of our gut begins at birth. As we pass through the vaginal canal of our mother we are inoculated with millions of healthy bacteria essential for our health. Research published by the British Medical Journal shows that C-section babies have a higher incidence of many chronic diseases.

    Negative impacts on our gut

Glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup, is the most popular herbicide used worldwide. The industry asserts it is minimally toxic to humans, but there is evidence that glyphosate enhances the damaging effects of other food borne chemical residues and environmental toxins.

Glyphosate causes extreme disruption of the microbe’s function and lifecycle. What’s worse, glyphosate preferentially affects beneficial bacteria, allowing pathogens to overgrow and take over. At that point, your body also has to contend with the toxins produced by the pathogens. Once the chronic inflammation sets in, you’re well on your way toward chronic and potentially debilitating disease…

Residues are found in the main foods of the Western diet, comprised primarily of sugar, corn, soy and wheat. It does not matter if it is GMO or not. Residues are now found in all grains in the American diet!

Another negative impact on our gut is the use of antibiotics. Antibiotics destroy the diversity of organisms in our gut and this is now being linked also to an increase in many chronic diseases.

As for its effects on humans, the Samsel – Seneff study published in 2013 suggests that glyphosate may actually be the most important factor in the development of a wide variety of chronic diseases, specifically because your gut bacteria are a key component of glyphosate’s mechanism of harm. Monsanto has steadfastly claimed that Roundup is harmless to animals and humans because the mechanism of action it uses (which allows it to kill weeds), called the shikimate pathway, is absent in all animals. However, the shikimate pathway IS present in bacteria, and that’s the key to understanding how it causes such widespread systemic harm in both humans and animals.

At the SOPMED meeting in July 2015, Dr. Zac Bush presented shocking studies showing the Gut cell junctions become leaky in about 20 mintues after consuming food with traces of roundup or by eating gluten. He also emphasized that the cell junctions in the brain become leaky which adversely affects the blood brain barrier. This is a critical barrier protecting our brains from toxins

There is now good evidence that an unhealthy gut is linked to Autism, inflammatory bowel disease, chronic diarrhea, colitis and Crohn’s disease, Obesity, Allergies, Cardiovascular disease, Depression, Cancer, Infertility, Alzheimer’s disease. Parkinson’s disease, Multiple sclerosis, ALS and many other diseases!

    The Gut and Brain

The link to the gut and neurological function has been become a focus by Dr. David Perlmutter in his new book Brain Maker

Debilitating brain disorders are on the rise-from children diagnosed with autism and ADHD to adults developing dementia at younger ages than ever before. But a medical revolution is underway that can solve this problem: Astonishing new research is revealing that the health of your brain is, to an extraordinary degree, dictated by the state of your microbiome – the vast population of organisms that live in your body and outnumber your own cells ten to one. What’s taking place in your intestines today is determining your risk for any number of brain-related conditions.

In Brain Maker, Dr. Perlmutter explains the potent interplay between intestinal microbes and the brain, describing how the microbiome develops from birth and evolves based on lifestyle choices, how it can become “sick,” and how nurturing gut health through a few easy strategies can alter your brain’s destiny for the better. With simple dietary recommendations and a highly practical program of six steps to improving gut ecology, Brain Maker opens the door to unprecedented brain health potential.

    What can you do?

The answer, of course, is to avoid processed foods of all kinds, as they’re virtually guaranteed to contain genetically engineered ingredients, and center your diet around whole, organic foods as toxic pesticides are not permitted in organic farming. Supporting GMO labeling is also important if you value your health, and that of your family and friends, in order to be able to make informed shopping decisions.

You can also replenish your gut bacteria by eating more fermented foods. Fermented foods are a great source of probiotics to help restore the gut. Our forefathers, in every area of the globe, consumed some type of fermented product not only as a food preservatives, but also as support for intestinal and overall health. These include: yogurt, fermented milk, buttermilk and kefir, sauerkraut and pickled fermentations of cabbage, turnips, eggplant, cucumbers, onions, squash, and carrots.

    Probiotics can also help

These are live bacteria and yeasts that are good for your health, especially your digestive system. Probiotics are often called “good” or “helpful” bacteria because they help keep your gut healthy.

All of my vitamin packs; Macular Support, Optic Nerve Support and Lens Support, they all have Probiotics in the formula to help support your gut.

Begin to Restore your gut Now!

Maintaining a healthy immune system is vital to our overall health. Seventy percent of our body’s first line of defense- immune system- is in our gut lining, which if spread out would equal the size of a tennis court. An optimal healthy gut contains 30,000 different strains of bacteria, which help support a healthy environment for every organ in the body. A typical American diet, loaded with heavily processed foods containing chemicals, GMO, gluten, and environmental toxins such as herbicides and animal antibiotics, destroys the healthy bacteria in our gut. These toxins penetrate through the gut wall into our circulatory system, and compromise the immune system, resulting ina breakdown of overall health and wellness

There is an exciting new product which was introduced to me by Dr. Garry Gordon. It is a clinically dietary supplement, that you take 1 tsp. before meals, to restore your bowel ecology so good gut bacteria can flourish. Restoring good gut bacteria can strengthen tight junctions, repair immune function, reverse fatigue and reclaim mental clarity. Our core mission is to help you achieve good gut health. We bring years of rigorous science and clinical research to the development of a new generation of health products.

    Zach Bush MD quote,
“This body of work has a common thread – that a diet high in heavily-processed foods filled with chemicals, GMOs, gluten, and environmental toxins such as herbicides and animal antibiotics, the typical American diet, can significantly harm the health of the immune system. A weakened immune system permits these toxins to penetrate the gut wall and enter the bloodstream, creating havoc.”

    Restore for Gut Health
It is easily added to your daily health plan to block gluten and other toxins’ effect on the gut and to improve the diversity of healthy gut bacteria damaged by inflammation.

Restore for Gut Health (one tsp. before meals)
    1) Promotes digestive enzymes
    2) Supports Immune function
    3) Increases mental clarity
