We spent last week talking about the different ways our kids may handle stress by going into fight, flight or freeze mode. This week we are going to go into our time machines back to our childhoods to take a peek at how we managed stress as kids. During stressful and traumatic experiences as kids our egos were developed as a protective mechanism and sometimes show up in adulthood that don’t work for us anymore. We will unpack that together today to unlock patterns and recreate new patterns that will create more harmony in our homes. Subscribe on Apple! Subscribe on Android! Join my FREE parenting bootcamp! Do you ever wonder why some kids respond differently in the same stressful scenarios? Like one kid may lose their mind and start punching a wall while another kid might run to the room and hide in the blanket. Today I’m gonna talk to you about popular stressor mechanisms that our kids develop and use as their default stress response. When we recognize what they do under stress then it can help us during role-playing and setting up scenarios to teach them healthier ways of responding to stress. And as always, when kids are less stressed then it creates more harmony in the home! 👏🏼👏🏼 Subscribe on Apple! Subscribe on Android! Join my FREE parenting bootcamp! Let’s Connect! Do your kids cry and cry and you just want it to stop altogether? If so, today is a great strategy to help you help them to dry their tears without shame or anger. Tears are a part of life and the more we normalize them for our kids we can help them to soften the shame and anxiety that comes with holding it in. The more we allow them and aren’t so shaken by the tears the less intense they are for the kids to allow us to have more harmony in our homes. Subscribe on Apple! Subscribe on Android! Do you feel overwhelmed ‘on the regular’ with all you have to do? Sometimes we feel so overwhelmed with all we have to do so we do nothing bc we don’t know where to start, Then we ironically perpetuate our overwhelm even more. Rinse. Repeat. The endless overwhelm cycle continues perpetually and we are running all day yet feel like we are failing in all the areas. Today we will talk about a great analogy my sister and I came up with years ago on accident that seems to help reduce overwhelm and increase the harmony in the home. Subscribe on Apple! It can be exhausting when they go from happy to sad then joyful to angry in 2.2 seconds. Today I’m going to teach you how to step off that ride and help your kids do the same with a cool strategy I learned about from watching another inspiring mom on TikTok. Do you remember having show and tell in elementary school? It was one of my students favorite activities year after year as we learned in all of the end of the year surveys. Today we will learn how to implement it in your home with a twist of self-love and self-like buried in too to strengthen their family sails in their sailboat of connection. The more connected a child feels within their family unit then the more they will see their parents as an ally vs the competition. This allows the more strong willed kids to drop their walls of vulnerability and ultimately leads to more Harmony in the Home. Subscribe on Apple! Subscribe on Android! 171: What Is Catastrophizing Sep 21, 2022
    Show notes

Do you ever feel nervous to feel happy because your next thought is to feel like the other shoe is about to drop? This is normal and we are going to explain a little further why our brain puts up road blocks when we feel joy. Conversely, we could have one negative thought like my 5 year old son got a behavior note home from school and within minutes we are spiraling into stinking thinking’. We can get the note and spiral into the worst case scenario like we are failing as a parent and he won’t ever get into college or have any friends because of his behavior. And if he doesn't have any friends nor go to college then he will never move out and be living in our basement forever on the couch playing video games smoking weed. See how sneaky our brains are? It can happen in seconds or minutes! Today we will give examples and what to do when the catastrophizing brain takes over and sends us down rabbit holes we don’t want to go down. Hopefully today will be just what you needed to hear to make parenting feel a little lighter so you can have more harmony in your home. Subscribe on Apple! Subscribe on Android!
