    Gutting the Sacred Cow

Gutting the Sacred Cow invites guests to argue why some of the most financially successful, beloved or acclaimed films are trash or overrated. But here's the twist, the film must meet 1 of these criteria: widely beloved, financial success, or critically acclaimed. Standup comedians Kevin Gootee and Kevin Israel love films and they love arguing about them.. But will they agree with their guests arguments or feed them into a wood chipper?

We give a platform with those who have unpopular opinions to be bold enough to voice them. What are some films that have faced scrutiny: Back to the Future, Goodfellas, Shawshank Redemption, the Dark Knight, Toy Story, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, the Matrix, and Die Hard. Can the guests persuade us or do we rip them a new one?

Give us a listen and we'll easily prove that we belong on any top movie podcast list. We throw plenty of fun segments in the mix: 5 fun facts, our readers have us ask our guests questions they'd like answered in "Ask a Gutter", critics 5 and 1 star reviews and our FAVORITE segment, reading Amazon 5 and 1 star reviews.; You'll never go down a more fun rabbit hole than hearing crazy people asking for refunds while submitting their personal info for payment.

We also give you movie and TV recommendations in our bonus segment aptly titled, "What Did We Watch" So if you want spirited movie debate and wonder what the hell is wrong with some people who hate some of these treasured films or if you secretly agree these beloved movies are awful, this podcast is for you.

Don Jamieson WHACKS Goodfellas Episode 208 GTSC podcast Oct 18, 2023
    Show notes

A fan favorite gutter returns and picks THE film many thought would never be attacked. Don Jamieson (That Jamieson Show on Compound Media, That Metal Show, Comedy Central) has picked arguably the GOAT of mob movies, Goodfellas. You have to been as flummoxed as Kevin Gootee and Kevin Israel were when Don made his selection. Why does he hate Tommy, Henry, Paulie, Janice Rossi, the whore in 2R, and of course, KAAAAAAREN!

Do you think Don stands a chance in denting this titanium plated classic? Or is Don's argument going to end up like Tommy and be gone...and there's nothing we can do about it. The gang also weighs on this debate, what's the most quoted scene from Goodfellas: The "get your shine box/Billy Bats" scene or "am I a clown, do I amuse you? Also, the trio discusses the all time top mob films.

What are your favorite scenes and quotes? Let us know on the social media platforms!

Scotty Landes DISSOLVES the Royal Tenenbaums Episode 207 GTSC podcast Oct 11, 2023
    Show notes

The Citizen Kane of quirky, nerd comedies is possibly about to get its comeuppance. The Royal Tenenbaums is debatably the best of Wes Anderson films. Gene Hackman, Owen Wilson, Luke Wilson (thankfully they have different hair color and noses), Gwyneth Paltrow (I hate that I had to google her correct name spelling and remind myself that her kid's name is Apple) Ben Stiller, and Roger Murtaugh himself round out this cast of Upper West Siders you would never invite over your house.

Enter Scotty Landes, podcast host of Banana along with Kurt Braunohler, writer of Ma, Burt Kreischer's "The Machine" movie that was out earlier this year. The boys discuss what movies to put on to while inviting a lady over the house. Do you think Wes Anderson is a genius and Scotty is insane? Is Scotty going to be able to Kevin Gootee that The Royal Tenenbaums royally stinks?

What's the first African-American comic book movie that opened the door for the MCU and DCEU? It's not Meteor Man, Kazaam, or Steel...it's Blade! The man who refused to pay taxes, Wesley Snipes, slays vampires and the dialogue. We also get Tracey Lords in a non-porno film where she's NOT underage. After all that, what's not to like? Rob Patrick explains why despite being culturally important, the plot and especially CGI, is a bloody tampon. Cause remember, it's open season on all suck heads. Just as Kris Kristofferson.

As good pals do, Delvin Cox RSVP'ed yes to Kevin Gootee's invitation to co-host. Delvin grabs his sunglasses, black trench coat, and sees if Rob's anti-Blade argument is just like some motherf----er trying to ice skate uphill.
