    Grown-Ass Woman’s Guide

Everyone sees a woman who has it together. What they don’t see is everything she’s holding in her head, running the house, the money, supporting everyone around her, with no instruction manual for any of it.
The Grown-Ass Woman’s Guide is for the woman who’s mistaken exhaustion for competence long enough to know busy isn’t the same as steady.
Each episode highlights experts in honest conversations about what actually runs a life: health, home, money, relationships, identity. The goal isn’t one more thing to manage. It’s trading the white-knuckling for a little more ease.

You Want Me to Put That WHERE? Jun 03, 2021
Show notes Why would you start to use cannabis at this age?! Before you judge, just listen. It could seriously change everything for you. We're not talking smokin' out under the bleachers here. Cannabis can be used to manage so many (peri)menopause symptoms and help you feel like yourself again -- without actually getting high.

Meet Carrie Mapes and Patty Pappas, founders of Hello Again! They're busting cannabis myths and answering your questions.

Carrie and Patty go way back – twenty years ago the duo met when their oldest children started preschool. Friends ever since, Carrie and Patty have always been adventurous and open-minded – but it wasn’t until they became empty nesters that they decided to explore local dispensaries.

Quickly, they realized that cannabis was uniquely suited to address many of the challenges they experienced during menopause. Patty and Carrie searched for a single product geared to address these challenges, but there was nothing in sight. Naturally, their problem-solving instincts lead them to take matters into their own hands – by building their own product from the ground up.

Cannabis. Vaginal. Suppository. Some might read those words and think “crazy talk”, but for Carrie and Patty these same words represent the future of women’s wellness.

Carrie’s creativity combined with Patty’s attention to detail make them the perfect pair to spearhead a movement to educate women about menopause and the non-psychoactive use of cannabis for wellness at any age. Carrie and Patty founded Hello Again in 2019, after extensive research and development. The duo is committed to offering solutions for women to improve both mental and physical health and feel like themselves again.

As Carrie and Patty say, their grandmother’s tolerated, their mothers medicated, and they CREATED. Hello Again!

    About Our Guests:

Carrie Mapes is committed to helping women through the challenges of menopause. After struggling with memory fog and energy shortages, Carrie understands how confusing it can be to associate menopause with its symptoms. Through her creativity and relatability, she strives to reach women who face the challenges she once did - and to introduce these women to a product that can make them feel like themselves again.

Carrie currently lives in Los Angeles with her husband and has two adult children. When not working at the intersection of cannabis and menopause, Carrie spends time developing her art.

Patty Pappas aims to introduce a product that changed her life into the lives of women everywhere. After experiencing years of uncontrollable mood and temperature shifts, Patty started experimenting with cannabis products to tackle her menopause. Her knowledge of symptoms and personal encounters with relief practices h

What if You Could Actually Find Balance? May 05, 2021
    Show notes

What if the whole concept of finding "balance" actually isn’t just a load of BS? What if you could feel better, healthier, more at peace? Today’s episode can help you move just a little bit closer to that.

    About Our Guest:

Want to be a rock star at work and at home? Cherylanne Skolnicki has the playbook. As an entrepreneur with a husband and three kids of her own, she knows exactly how it feels to have too much to do and not enough time to do it. It's exhausting, it's stressful, and it can be tempting to just give in to the chaos. Like most children of the 80s and 90s, Cherylanne grew up believing she could have it all. She started her first business while still in high school, and dreamed of one day becoming a CEO. After graduating from Cornell, she went to work for Procter & Gamble where she spent the next 15 years climbing the corporate ladder and managing a portfolio of well known consumer product brands (one had more than $1 billion in global sales). Despite her demanding work schedule, she still traveled, ran marathons, and volunteered like a boss. And then she had 3 children. All of a sudden, the unrelenting pace she was running at felt unsustainable. That’s when she knew she had to reorder her life so all the pieces would truly fit - including not just a thriving career and family life, but also a good night's sleep and some time to herself! It wasn't easy at first, but she finally discovered a set of practices that truly worked. That prompted her to found Brilliant Balance, and her playbook has helped thousands of professional women reclaim rock star status over the last decade. Her company, Brilliant Balance, offers work-life mentorship and coaching programs to help you have a fulfilling career, a thriving family life, and a strong sense of self. Cherylanne is a sought-after speaker and hosts the top-rated Brilliant Balance podcast. Her work has been featured in Thrive Global, The Huffington Post, Forbes, Women’s Day, and Cincy Chic. She appears on TV news shows as an expert on work life balance, productivity, and purpose. Cherylanne graduated from Cornell University in 1995. She holds an MBA from the Goizueta School of Management at Emory University. She is a member of the Female Founders Collective, one of Cincinnati’s 100 Wise Women, a Forty Under 40 Honoree, a happy wife, and a proud mom of three. Meet Leah Hadley, a best-selling author, Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA) and an Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), she’s all about helping her us make wise financial decisions as we begin the next phase of life with the strongest possible financial foundation.

Leah wasn’t always a financial wiz, in fact she was an instant parent of three when she and her husband adopted a sibling group. But then it wasn’t soon after that she was going through a divorce. So she gets the struggle. Leah is brilliant when it comes to managing money during and after divorce so stay tuned for that, but I also wanted to talk about managing money as a couple when you’re still together — hopefully well enough that you can avoid that divorce.

We talk setting financial goals, getting on the same page — communication around goals, oh my gosh so important, becoming an entrepreneur after working at a “safe” job for years, and managing finances through huge transitions — most of us have had one or there’s one right around the corner. This isn’t one of those heady or boring financial conversations but Leah provides some super simple real life tactics to empower you to make the most of your money. Oh and how to recognize the red flags when you reach out to a financial planner — when to run like hell

It’s my 50th birthday. The big 5–0. Half a century. Fifty shades of somethin’. As a woman who’s had her fair share of life experiences, I feel like I’ve got some things to say, so sit your young self back and take a listen. The stuff you’ve been through — the challenges, the set backs, the unanswered prayers — they have all brought you to where you are today. And it’s those experiences that provide us the greatest lessons and wisdom. So as a new silver-haired, card-carrying member of AARP, I’ve learned a few things in my 50 years on this beautiful planet and today, I’m sharing 10 of those hard earned lessons in hopes that they can help you too. 1. You are not for everyone.

This is something I tell my creative coaching clients all the time. I actually tell my kids this all the time. It is okay if someone just does not prefer you. Just keep being yourself, showing up and doing you. Say it with me: I. AM. NOT. FOR. EVERYONE. The sooner and more often you remember this, you’ll be given a sense of freedom no longer worrying or even wondering what everyone else thinks.

    2. You’re leaving a lot of progress on the table.
