    Show notes

The Celtics did it again, going in at the half trailing, before coming out HOT to close the game out. Another superstar performance from Jayson Tatum, more high-level Kemba Walker, AND Jabari Parker getting into double-digits on his debut. Adam and Greg get into everything from this game, and the winning streak in general, as they enjoy discussing the positives from Boston's best stretch of the season so far. CelticsPod: Where does Jabari Parker fit? Apr 17, 2021
    Show notes

Following the news that the Boston Celtics have signed Jabari Parker to a two year deal, I thought it would be best to dive into his potential fit in the rotation, and what Parker will bring to the team. Joined by Brenden Nunes of the Kings Herald, we discuss Parker's potential upside, his defensive struggles, and overall skillset. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

CelticsPod: Media Motivation Apr 16, 2021
    Show notes

Today we explore the topic of media motivation, where players improve their performances in response to media criticism. Recently, Marcus Smart has bitten back at media questioning his defense, Jayson Tatum has been crushing it since being called out by Kendrick Perkins, and Tristan Thompson has played his best basketball of the season since responding to media questions around his locker room fit. We also explore Kemba Walker's ability to find a rhythm when missing back-to-backs and having to adjust to a more spot-up shooting role, before discussing Kemba as sixth man - as a fan mentioned on locker room. CelticsPod: Live Mailbag Apr 14, 2021
    Show notes

On this weeks live CelticsPod mailbag, we get into Kemba Walker and his value to the team - or if he's better off being salary dumped in the off season. Is Grant Williams a viable option as the back-up four long-term? Brad Stevens deserves credit for Boston's recent turnaround, the same way he deserves his share of the blame for the teams struggles this season. Favorite Celtics of all-time, most popular teams in England, and a bunch more. The live mailbag episodes are recorded on the LockerRoom app every Monday at 4pm Eastern. Celtics PRIDE: Jeremy Stevens Interview Apr 13, 2021
    Show notes

On this episode of Celtics PRIDE, Adam, Josh, and Mike Interview CelticsBlog Staff Member Jeremy Stevens. They discuss how the Celtics are finally playing well (7-3 in last 10 games since the trade deadline, 3 game win streak) after so much malaise on the court, frustration from the coaching staff, and full-on fan depression. The Pride guys ask Jeremy if he thinks this team is finally turning their season around and he responds with a nice analogy. They share thoughts on Romeo Langford’s contributions, his ceiling, and his new-found ability to finally grow facial hair - and for context they remind fans that Romeo is younger than Aaron Nesmith AND has played fewer games than Payton Pritchard. Jeremy remarks that he thinks Romeo is better than Jaylen Brown defensively, and this sparks a debate about who are the top 5 defenders on the Celtics. Listen to find out where Tatum and Brown rank. Jeremy gets introduced to Celtics PRIDE’s game of “NBA Would You Rather,” with questions like “Gordon Hayward at 30m or Evan Fournier at 20-22m??" The Pride crew also question whether Jeremy Stevens is a distant cousin of head coach Brad Stevens. “You know it’s funny, I don’t look like Brad Stevens at all, but if you sent Brad to my family reunion, he’d fit in perfectly.” Jeremy Stevens Remember to rate, review, and subscribe to the Celticsblog podcast feed (we're “Celtics PRIDE”) and follow us on Twitter @celticspridepod, a @celticsblog podcast. CelticsPod: Beating the Nuggets, Tatum's 53, and general observations Apr 12, 2021
    Show notes

Today, CelticsPod introduces the new co-hosts, breaks down the resiliency Boston has found in recent games, explores Tatum's growth, dives into Grant Williams and the Tweener conundrum, AND discusses the Robert Williams/Tristan Thompson battle for minutes. The Celtics have been a tough proposition in recent games, displaying a new never-say-die attitude while grinding out some hard fought victories, giving us memories of old Brad Steven's teams - and they're doing all this without Fournier, there's still a bunch of growth left for this roster, but things are looking much better than they did just two weeks ago. CelticsPod: What We Learnt Apr 07, 2021
    Show notes

I'm joined by Greg Maneikis of the Green With Envy podcast to discuss what we learnt from Boston's loss against Philadelphia. From Robert Williams being taken to school by Embiid, to the Sixers new defensive wrinkles, the Celtics have a lot of internal development on their hands should they wish to surpass their East Coast rivals. We also look at tonight's game against the Knicks, and what hurdles Boston will need to overcome in order to end the night with the W Learn more about your ad choices. Celtics PRIDE: Evaluating Trades & Recent Improvement Apr 06, 2021
    Show notes

On this episode of Celtics PRIDE, Adam, Josh, and Mike evaluate the trades made at the deadline with 10 days of hindsight. The guys discuss the Evan Fournier and Daniel Theis deals as one combined trade since the need to save money by trading Theis was a result of the Fournier trade. Adam rants about how Danny Ainge should have kept Theis and included Javonte Green in the Fournier deal to get under the tax instead of having to give up Theis to save money as well as how other seemingly minor cap moves and trades have caused the Celtics to be in their current position. The Pride guys also discuss how the value of these trades comes from having greater roster balance, from removing players to create more role clarity, and whether these trades improved the team more now or more going forward. They discuss the use of the TPE now, whether they should have traded Tristan Thompson and what value Luke Kornet and Mo Vagner bring to this team. The guys then discuss the most recent stretch of games and an improved effort, and offensive flow in two wins against Houston and Charlotte before ending with Josh’s observations of Romeo Langford. “I’m seeing more connectivity on defense and consistency in effort from start to finish in a way this team has not done much of over the first 48 games.” Mike Minkoff Remember to rate, review, and subscribe to the Celticsblog podcast feed (we're “Celtics PRIDE”) and follow us on Twitter @celticspridepod, a @celticsblog podcast. CelticsPod: Encouraging offensive growth Apr 05, 2021
    Show notes

Over the Easter weekend, the Celtics have had some impressive ball movement and offensive showings against the Houston Rockets and Charlotte Hornets. Robert Williams continues to look every bit the starting calibre center we all hoped he would be, Evan Fournier has added pace, scoring, and spacing, and Romeo Langford's return rewarded the Celtics with another lengthy wing who can defend on the perimeter. We look at what each of these improvements could mean for Boston, and why things have suddenly started to click for the team. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
