Celtics PRIDE: Revisiting Preseason Predictions and Playoff Prophecy Apr 12, 2022

Show notes

The regular season is over and the Celtics will be playing either Brooklyn or Cleveland. Who would you rather face? Did the Celtics make a mistake in winning the final game against Memphis? Should they have tried harder to avoid Brooklyn? How afraid are Adam, Mike and Josh of possibly playing Kevin Durant and the rest of the Nets in the first round of the playoffs? The regular season’s end means it’s time for the Celtics Pride guys to revisit what they expected in the beginning of the season. Josh, Mike and Adam look back at their pre-season over/under predictions. These include scoring averages for Tatum and Brown, 2 stats for Rob Williams, Assist numbers for Brown and Tatum combined and where the Celtics would end up in the East. See who got more right. The guys also look at some of the bets they made with each other to see which ones they can call at this point. Can you guess who Josh thought would be in the running for 6th man of the year? Then they weigh in on Mike’s twitter poll about who had a better season - Ime Udoka, Brad Stevens or Jayson Tatum. Finally, they go through the entire playoffs with more predictions (because they weren’t wrong enough with their pre-season vision), guessing which teams would win and working through the entire playoff bracket. How far do they think the Celtics will go? Tune in to get your Celtics fix. Celtics PRIDE: Still Rolling without Rob? Apr 04, 2022

Show notes

Are the Celtics still rolling without Rob Williams? The Celtics PRIDE team discuss the recent Celtics trends after a loss to Miami and wins against Indiana and Washington. How are the Celtics replacing Rob Williams and is it enough? Despite Josh’s desire to discuss Max Strus at length, the guys review Grant Williams’ turn in the starting lineup and productivity back on the bench mob. Adam, Josh and Mike detail the impact of having Daniel Theis playing Rob’s role in the starting lineup, even hitting on whether Theis makes a difference shooting from three. Then Josh gives Jaylen Brown some love for his strong play recently including some counting statistics to back it up. The Celtics PRIDE guys continue with more gushing about how well Jayson Tatum has been playing, even going back to an old conversation comparing Jayson and Jaylen. Lastly, the guys review the standings and look ahead at the final 3 games of the regular season and disagree once more about whether to make adjustments to avoid playing the Brooklyn Nets in the first round. Celtics PRIDE: Coping with Rob's Injury and Appreciating Everything Else Mar 29, 2022

Show notes

On this week's episode of Celtics Pride, the guys take a brief moment to revel in the C's finding their way (briefly) to the #1 seed in the East, before reacting to the news of Robert Williams tearing his meniscus. Mike makes his case while -- no question a major bummer -- all may not be lost, with Josh and Adam largely in agreement. The guys talk through what the implications will likely be for the remainder of the season -- including whether and how Grant Williams, Daniel Theis, and... even Luke Kornet and Sam Hauser may help fill the void left by Williams' absence. They then try gauge when Williams could come back under the best of circumstances, and discuss whether they'd even want Rob to risk further injury to come back this year in an attempt to win a ring. Then, with the additional spotlight placed upon him due to Williams' injury, the Pride Guys revisit the trade for Al Horford in the offseason. For Mike, it's a no-brainer great deal (both at the time, and in hindsight), but Adam and Josh didn't necessarily agree on the value of giving up the 1st round pick when we made the trade this off-season. Have they changed their tune since? And, is Mike going to far to suggest that Al Horford might become the Celtics 2nd most important player in the playoffs? Finally, Josh once again leads the charge in doling out some love for all that Jayson Tatum is doing. Jaw-dropping stats? Check. Back-to-back-to-back Eastern Conference Player of the Week recognition? Double check. A top-4 player in the NBA..? May depend on who you ask. Tune in to hear all that, plus whether Adam, Josh, or Mike want to actively avoid a possible 1st round matchup with Brooklyn. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices
