Celtics PRIDE: The Grant Game, Milwaukee Review & Miami’s Next May 17, 2022

Show notes

Celtics PRIDE: The Grant Game, Milwaukee Review & Miami’s Next Recorded immediately after game 7, Adam, Mike and Josh discuss the huge win Sunday over Milwaukee, the entire series against the Bucks and look ahead to the series against Miami. They start by discussing the historical context of this game 7 win for a very successful Celtics franchise. Grant Williams played the game of his life so far, hitting the shots the Buck’s defense gave him and a Celtics team that doesn’t always hit from deep. They also talk about Tatum’s play in this game, Payton Pritchard doing “what I do” and barely touch on the refs for fear of getting called for a foul. Then they look at the whole Milwaukee series, looking at the impact of three point shooting for both teams, giving their opinion on the factors that led to the Celtics pulling things out despite going down 3-2 after a tough game 5 loss. They answer the question, “what does this series win mean for the legacy of Jayson Tatum and this Boston Celtics team. Be careful about agreeing with Josh’s response that a Celitc’s Dynasty is forming because it could lead to other irrational thoughts. They also touch on Jalen’s Brown, Al Horford and Derek White. Adam willfully offers an updated opinion on the Al Horford trade and gets pushed to update his view on the deal to get Derek White. Before moving on to discussing the Miami heat series, the gang ensures that credit is given to Milwaukee for their tough series. Finally The guys look at head to head matchups on the floor (players) and on the sidelines (coaches), identify specific Miami players to watch, single out who on the Celtics might make an impact in the next series, discuss the Rob Williams injury and his potential impact and give predictions on who wins the Miami series. Celtics PRIDE: Instant Reaction to Game 4 (AKA - The Al Horford Game) May 10, 2022

Show notes

Josh and Mike provide their instant – shocked – reaction to the Celtics thrilling come from behind victory against Milwaukee in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, a performance that literally (and only briefly) left Josh speechless. Once they finally collected themselves, Josh and Mike took turns celebrating the unequivocal greatness of Al Horford’s 30pt, 8 reb, 3 ast masterpiece. They talked about how Al bounced back from getting dunked on by Giannis to return the favor, Mike revisited the reasons he is only partially surprised, and Josh graciously took the L for suggesting that Horford was washed when we initially acquired him from OKC. Just a truly amazing performance by Horford. Mike and Josh then turned their attention to Tatum, noting his improvement and changes from not just Game 3, but also from the first half to the second half of Game 4. With 30 points himself (along with 13 rebs and 5 asts) Tatum significantly impacted the game, and really helped the C’s pull away down the stretch. The last player the Celtics Pride guys focused on was the *other* big Brad Stevens acquisition this year, Derrick White. With 11 points and 34 absolutely STELLAR defensive minutes, White continued what’s been a strong (if not spectacular) series of consistent solid play that shows why the Celtics paid the price they did to acquire him midseason. After basking in the glow of victory, Mike ever-so-briefly, and somewhat reluctantly, calls out what he’s seen as poor and inconsistent officiating. Josh agrees that the calls have been iffy – both ways – and hopes the refs can do better at calling the game so that they’re not even seen. Mike… might have clearer leanings on who is getting the better whistle. Finally, the guys revisit their C’s in 7 pre-series predictions to see if they still feel the same as the C’s head back to Boston with the series tied 2-2. Mike and Josh don’t stray *too* far from their original predictions… but which way do they go? And do you agree? Check out the pod and let us know. Learn more about your ad choices.
