Tennessee Vols WR Bru McCoy on Joe Milton’s arm, Josh Heupel’s offense, Beating Bama & Transferring from USC + Training Camp Fights and Blaming 49ers’ Front Office Aug 17, 2023
    Show notes

Gojo and Golic lament over their prized possessions thrown away by a friend of the pod, Jr’s mother, and Sr’s wife, Mrs. Christine Golic. After crying over spilled milk, the guys dive into…

(04:45) - Big boy fights at the Dallas Cowboys Training Camp. There comes a time in a young man’s life, during training camp, when he gets sick and tired of being sick and tired and decides to get kicked out of practice for fighting. Gojo breaks down the latest viral camp fight video and (09:00) Golic discusses the art of starting fights during Preseason camp.

(12:04) - After Head Coach Robert Saleh rips his offensive line during Hard Knocks, Aaron Rodgers is asked how concerned he is about the New York Jets OL heading into the season. Gojo says Rodgers shouldn’t be worried because that unit isn’t working with all its starters. Golic thinks there should be some concern because offensive line depth is one of the toughest things to have in the NFL.

(15:59) - Instead of blaming Trey Lance for the QB situation in San Francisco, Gojo and Golic ask how much blame does John Lynch deserve? Golic says “They took a QB with only 17 starting snaps in college … Maybe he’s not ready for this.” Gojo points out that Lynch has been so good at drafting players until the Trey Lance pick, that they’re still able to compete after giving up so much to draft Lance high.

(19:54) - Tennessee Volunteers Wide Receiver, Bru McCoy joins the show! Bru talks with the Golics about being one of the oldest guys in the locker room, the culture shock of transferring from USC to Tennessee, (22:40), and his QB Joe Milton’s arm. He discusses adjusting to Josh Heupel’s high-tempo offense, what it was like beating Alabama last season, and (28:15) his individual goals heading into this season. The star WR also tells us about his Head Coach Josh Heupel, Tennessee teammates who'll make an impact this season, and his work to bring awareness to sudden cardiac arrest in athletes.

(40:45) - This, That, and the Third: USWNT Head Coach Vlatko Andonovski steps down after World Cup loss, why Teddy Bridgewater is wearing No. 50, and the internet inappropriately thirsting over Mrs. Met.

    Show notes

Charlotte Wilder joins Gojo and Golic on a Wednesday because it is routine, SZN baby! That means fall, football, and apple picking. After arguing about Charlotte’s apple-picking frequency, Golic listens to…

    (06:05) - Gojo’s Five Favorite Weather Moments.

(09:30) - Hatin’ *** Brandon enters the chat to explain why Michigan DT, Kris Jenkins’ 170-lb Turkish Get Up was not that impressive.

(12:02) - Gojo, Golic, and Charlotte react to Joel Embiid removing Philadelphia from his home location on “X” formerly known as Twitter, and removing the term “processing” from his bio. Charlotte thinks this is the perfect opportunity for her 2nd favorite basketball team: “I don’t know if 76er fans should be worried or Knicks fans excited.” (16:20) Golic Sr asks if James Harden is even worth the trouble anymore while Gojo is just excited to see what new tricks James Harden tries to pull off.

(19:40) - After Gojo gives a “Blind Sided” update from this Michael Oher vs. the Tuohy family saga, Charlotte shares her thoughts on reframing this story: “The Tuohys 1000% profited off of Michael Oher.” Golic says the details are still murky but people calling for Sandra Bullock to forfeit her Oscar need to shut it.

(28:00) - Three Big Questions for the SEC: Should we be afraid of how much Nick Saban has been smiling lately? (33:00) Is Brian Kelly primed for a National Championship run in his second year with LSU? (36:43) Is Tennessee’s Joe Milton the most important player in the conference?

(40:30) - - This, That, and the Third: Spurs’ Big Vic set to headline NBA’s new in-season tournament, Women’s World Cup Final is set, and the US is still not in it, and Nelly will perform halftime at this year’s BIG 12 Conference Championship Game.

Ja'Marr Chase on Joe Burrow's Evolution, Bengals Fans, and former teammate Justin Jefferson + Michael Oher sheds light on "The Blind Side" and the Tuohy family Aug 15, 2023
    Show notes

Gojo and Golic dive into the unfortunate news that not only did 2009’s “The Blind Side’ paint retired NFL star Michael Oher negatively but according to Oher, the story was built on a lie.

(01:08) - Former Ole Miss star and first-round pick, Michael Oher revealed in court documents that unlike the narrative pushed in the movie and real life, Sean and Leigh Anne Tuohy did not adopt him. Instead, they tricked the then-18-year-old Oher into signing a conservatorship that allowed the Tuohys to negotiate deals on his behalf. (03:33) Golic says there should be receipts to validate everything Michael Oher claims, especially his receiving zero dollars for the success of “The Blind Side” while ‘his family’ saw a cut from the film.

(05:30) - Gojo compares this situation with Michael Oher and the Tuohys to the NCAA and their entire exploitative model for success before discussing how former Ole Miss Head Football coach, Hugh Freeze stands as one of the major beneficiaries of the lies that sold to sell ‘Michael Oher’s story.’

(10:50) - Gojo breaks down just how damning “The Blind Side” was to Michael Oher’s image and how he handled the narratives pushed throughout the film before we hear sound from Michael Oher himself on what bothered him most about how he was portrayed in the movie. (14:17) Golic sheds light on the shady moves made by the Tuohy family, proving just how exploitative they were being with Michael Oher as his co-conservators.

(18:10) - ZACK MARTIN GOT PAID! The Golics update Zack Martin’s reworked contract with the Dallas Cowboys, Zeke Elliott's deal with the New England Patriots, and Dalvin Cook signing with the New York Jets.

(23:20) - Cincinnati Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase joins the show on behalf of Sleep Number! Ja’Marr talks with Gojo and Golic about partnering with his former teammate Justin Jefferson for a commercial, following his NFL career from afar, and borrowing from each other’s game. (26:30) Gojo asks Chase how Joe Burrow’s calf has been recovering and the evolution of Burrow’s game from college to the NFL. Ja’Marr Chase talks about what this team has done for Bengals fans in Cincinnati, what goals he’s set out for himself this season, and his ongoing war of worlds with Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce. (33:00) Ja’Marr ends his time with Gojo and Golic talking about the woes of training camp, the Bengals’ newest DBs, and a fun fact about Cincinnati Head Coach Zac Taylor.

(38:45) - This, That, and the Third: Anthony Richardson named QB1 for the Indianapolis Colts, Jason Kelce documentary hitting the streaming streets to kick off the NFL season, and the first college football Top 25 AP was released!

Player Mobility King James Harden has words for Daryl Morey, the Good & Bad of Preseason Rookie QBs, Should USC be favorite to win PAC-12? and Plane Lady Apologies Aug 14, 2023
    Show notes

Gojo and Golic give general reactions to James Harden calling President of the Philadelphia 76ers Daryl Morey and one-time partner in basketball crime a “liar,” before diving into…

(03:00) - The beauty and glory that is Preseason football from last weekend. Golic explains how Preseason football hits differently for him being a former 10th Round Draft pick: “I’m interested in the back half of these rosters.” Gojo and his Dad go on to break down the best and worst moments from our first full Preseason weekend then look at the good and bad for Rookie QBs.

(12:04) - Gojo looks at the QBs in the 49ers vs. Raiders Preseason game, especially Trey Lance and his early struggles as a starter: “He looks uncomfortable.” Golic talks about the high expectations for high draft picks and thinks it’d be a mistake not to see what you could get for Trey Lance, the former 3rd overall pick. They give props to Aiden O’Connell for the Raiders who has exceeded expectations in his Preseason performance.

(19:43) - After hearing James Harden call, Gojo and Golic discuss the “burn book protocol” the Sixers star unleashed on Daryl Morey. Gojo talks about how odd this is from Harden who has had all of his NBA success with Sixers’ President Morey. (25:00) Golic asks if James Harden is worth the $200M he’s likely asking for.

(31:08) - Gojo asks his Dad 3 big questions about the PAC-12, before the conference’s swan song season. 1) Should USC be the favorite to win PAC-12? 2) Is Deion Sanders the coach under the most pressure to succeed? 3) Will DJ Uiagalelei have a career revival with Oregon State?

(40:15) - This, That, and the Third: Caitlin Clark gets butter statue at Iowa State Fair, Billion dollar fight update, and the viral plane lady apologizes.

Wilder Wednesdays — Charlotte on Taylor Swift's Elite Athleticism, Ron Rivera's fumbled Eric Bieniemy comments, and SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey's Hypocrisy Aug 09, 2023
    Show notes

NO PAIN. NO GAIN. It’s Training Camp season which means Gojo is hurt, not injured as he, his Dad Mike Golic Sr, and Charlotte Wilder talk about Jr recovering from his third Taylor Swift Era concert last night.

(01:20) - Gojo demands a documentary highlighting Taylor Swift, her band, and dancers' recovery regiment after he got fatigued just watching them for 3 hours: “It swallows you whole.” Charlotte doubles down saying outside of an important LIVE sporting event, there’s nothing to compare the Taylor Swift concert experience. (07:09) Charlotte and Gojo explain to Golic why no one has complained about the Era’s Tour being too long, before celebrating Taylor’s athleticism and rich people's drugs.

(12:46) - The gang reacts to Washington HC Ron Rivera putting a bullseye on the back of his Offensive Coordinator Eric Bieniemy with his comments regarding players' concerns with Bieniemy’s coaching style. “I am stunned Rivera did this” Golic says he doesn’t care if he sounds like an old man with this take: “Everybody complains about training camp,” Charlotte asks if this is Ron Rivera trying to send a message to his OC by putting an unfair microscope on his role in the locker room.

(25:59) - Gojo, Golic, and Charlotte look deeper at SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey’s hypocritical comments on conference realignment in college football. Gojo says this is what happens when decisions around CFB are driven by greed. (30:30) One year away from the 12-team expansion, the college football playoff system is brought back into question thanks to recent news of conference realignment. Also, they entertain the reality that college football may follow the Notre Dame model and become independent amateur sports teams not tied to their Universities’ conferences.

(40:30) - This, That, and the Third: NFL Fullbacks are getting demoted to Offensive Linemen, and NFL Offensive Linemen are being upgraded to Fullback, the Jaguars got new hydration urinals, and Da’vian Kimbrough becomes USA’s youngest professional soccer player.

South Carolina Head Football Coach Shane Beamer on Spencer Rattler, Recruiting in the NIL era and Conference Realignment + Training Camp Holdouts & FREE KEVIN BROWN Aug 08, 2023
    Show notes

Happy Taylor Swift Tuesday! Gojo and his Dad, Mike Golic Sr debate who’s carrying tomorrow’s show after Gojo spends tonight enjoying the penultimate performance of Taylor Swift’s Era’s tour in Los Angeles. After previewing South Carolina Head Football Coach Shane Beamer, Gojo, and Golic dive into…

(04:45) - Tonight’s premiere of Hard Knocks featuring the New York Jets, how many people watched the Preseason Hall of Fame Game, and NFL vets sitting out of preseason action and (08:40) Gojo reveals his Top 5 Hard Knocks moments.

(12:03) - Gojo and Golic discuss the most intriguing training camp storyline: player holdouts and how their teams are affected. Between Nick Bosa, Zack Martin, and Chris Jones, Golic says he’s most worried about Bosa sitting out because his body needs training camp reps to help his flexibility. (14:30) Gojo discusses what deal gets done first between the 3 All-Pro linemen.

(18:06) - The guys look at the drama surrounding the Baltimore Orioles’ decision to suspend their play-by-play announcer Kevin Brown after he highlighted just how bad the ballclub has been in Tampa against the Rays.

(23:20) - South Carolina Head Football Coach Shane Beamer joins the show! Gojo and Golic joke with Coach about getting Mayo dumped on his head after winning the infamous Duke’s Mayo Bowl against their rival North Carolina and preview the Gamecock’s rematch against the Tar Heels in Week 1. (25:43) Golic asks Coach Beamer about Spencer Rattler’s development and what to expect from South Carolina’s offense this season with a new offensive coordinator at the helm. (31:00) Gojo asks Coach his key to recruiting during the NIL and transfer portal era of college football and (32:50) what he thinks about conference realignment in college football. Gojo, Golic, and Coach Shane Beamer end their conversation poking fun at Notre Dame’s win over South Carolina in last year’s bowl game and their friendship with South Carolina Alum Darius Rucker.

(38:44) - This, That, and the Third: Cal and Stanford look to join the ACC, Titans Defensive Line coach Terrell Williams to head coach preseason games, and Tim Anderson has been suspended six games for his fight with Jose Ramirez.
