WWE Releases, AEW and ROH Confusion, and the Book 1’s - WWE and AEW September 18-24 Sep 25, 2023

Show notes

This week, the guys talk about shoes. That’s right. Shoes. Devin Booker has his first Nike pair, the Book 1’s, in four colorways. Tyler isn’t sure how to feel about the all oranges. Plus, Brad has commentary about the Golden Bachelor much to Tyler’s delight.
In the WWE, a ton of talent, mostly unused, was released. They discuss who they think will go to the independent scene and who they think will go to AEW.
In AEW, MJF continues to be incredible. Still, there is no clear next challenger, and Full Gear is not too far off. They try to predict who it will be. Plus, there is so much ROH on AEW television again that Brad is losing his mind. Does it indicate a streaming deal soon, or does it indicate that TK has no idea what to do with that brand?

The Rock, Cena, Jade Cargill, and the PWI 500 - WWE and AEW September 11-17 Sep 18, 2023

Show notes

This week, the guys talk about the return of the Great One, the Rock, to SmackDown, in addition to his backstage encounter with John Cena. Two legends on the show, but what was the primary motivator off of the heels of the TKO merger? Plus, will we see Rocky-Roman at Mania, or is Cody Rhode’s Falcore-esque never-ending story going to be the tale at the Showcase of the Immortals?
In the AEW, Jade Cargill’s contract is up. Is it AEW news? Is it WWE news? The answer is “yes,” but what is her legacy in AEW? Plus, Santana had a recent video package declaring he is now on his own, and he also had some public back-and-forth with his former P&P tag team partner. Then his segment was left off Collision. Will he ever get the opportunity he wants?
The federal government is handing over cash to teachers for loans. That is, if you’re teaching one of three domains. You’ll still get cash, but it’s a drop in the bucket comparatively. Tyler is heated in this week’s promo. Plus, the PWI dropped its annual 500 list. The guys feel a way about it. Finally, there are an endless list of unwritten rules. If the teacher doesn’t bring up the homework, should you? They talk about it.

Danielson Saturdays, Cena and SmackDown’s Heights, and Butter Knives - WWE and AEW September 4-10 Sep 11, 2023

Show notes

This week, the guys talk about the weather. AZ is burning. They also break down the ultimate multi-tool in the white males of a certain age toolkit: the butter knife.
In the WWE and online discourse, John Cena is touted as the GOAT, and he is touted as someone who would destroy MJF on a mic. The guys give their opinion on this conversation that is ultimately a dumb sports talk radio segment.
SmackDown has a loaded roster with pretty tepid storylines. Can they get back to the heights they reached last year? Tyler and Brad discuss.
AEW showcased its first Collision booked, reportedly, by Bryan Danielson. This edition of Lucha Overground felt different, but it all still feels very familiar. They take a temperature check on the show. Plus, Swerve Strickland is in a program with Hangman Adam Page that looks to set up a push for Swerve, and Jade Cargill has returned, pump-kicking and choke-slamming anyone in her way. Buckle up. This ep is loaded.

Show notes

This week, the guys discuss their favorite moments from WWE Payback, a card that, along with All Out, didn’t have the biggest build or the most hype. Payback delivered.
CM Punk was terminated “with cause” by Tony Khan and AEW. They break down the complex nature of the art, the artist, and the interaction of both in social media.
Brad cuts a promo on line cutters in adulthood and hypocritical merch on vehicles. Tyler asks if it’s okay to date at the gym.

This week, the guys break down AEW All In at Wembley. The matches were really strong, the event was amazing, and the pacing had us feeling like the crowd at Wembley.
SmackDown and the WWE did a great job honoring both Bray Wyatt and Terry Funk. LA Knight finally gets a wing and acts as the face of the company.
Heading into another big PLE/PPV weekend, Tyler and Brad try to figure out what the cards look like for each company. Plus, Tyler recaps the Bachelorette season finale.

Edge, WWE Eras, All In, Cash Wheeler, and Microbursts- WWE and AEW August 14th-20th Aug 21, 2023

Show notes

This week, the guys go all in on All In before going all out the following weekend for All Out and WWE Payback. It’s a huge two week spread.
In the WWE, LA Knight lost again, Bianca is likely going on a vacation, and a new era may be emerging as Edge takes his final WWE bow in Toronto. The guys discuss their thoughts on his recent run and the future of the WWE.
With All In knocking the door, the guys talk about the card, what they expect to happen and what will come out of it, and what it may mean for the future. They also break down the complex and nuanced legal issues facing Cash Wheeler by recklessly speculating and trying to make sense of how to handle top talent in any sport in similar circumstances.
Brad’s second week of school was met by a microburst that tore the campus a new one. Tyler breaks down all of the Bachelorette he was able to catch before Trump’s Georgia indictment ruined his evening. Finally, both guys discuss the importance of All In 2018. Deuces Uces, Darby Allin, All In, and Endeavor - WWE and AEW August 7th-13th Aug 14, 2023

Show notes

This week, the guys start off by talking about what’s on everybody’s mind: who was coming off of the bench for the 2003 Detroit Piston’s championship squad?
In the WWE, Jey Uso kicked the Bloodline in the face before quitting the WWE. Is this storyline in the third inning, or is the game already over? Plus, the Endeavor deal is nearing finalization and there is a lone McMahon family member on the board. What will the WWE look like in five years?
AEW All In is happening, preceded by Fight for the Fallen to raise money for the fires in Maui, but immediately followed by All Out. Is it worth the risk to have back to back paypes? The guys try to book out a way to make it make sense. Plus, Darby Allin is everywhere. What is his value to AEW?
Brad’s school year started up. He shares a personal story about his struggle to get started. Tyler brings us his thoughts on Jackie Chan’s newest film with John Cena, and he rounds out the pod with Bachelorette talk. The episode is loaded.
