Get Obsessed : With Living Your Best Life – Julie Lokun and Mika Altidor

What happens when two women who refuse to play small sit down with the people actually changing the world — and the ones brave enough to tell the stories most shows won’t touch? You get The Get Obsessed Podcast — a show built for people who are hungry for more truth, more transformation, and more proof that the life they’re imagining is actually possible.

Hosted by Julie Lokun and Mika Altidor, this is the podcast for dreamers who are done dreaming and ready to move. Julie is a legal advocate, entrepreneur, and mother of four who has spent years studying what it truly takes to succeed. Mika is a fierce business owner and meditation facilitator obsessed with self-development who knows what it takes to turn a life around. Together they bring zero filters, radical honesty, and an unshakable belief that you were built for more than you’ve been told.

We go places other podcasts won’t. We have explored the inner world of Scientology — the beliefs, the pull, the controversy, and what it means for the people inside it. We sat with Janelle Brown from TLC’s Sister Wives and went deep into what it really looks like to live outside the lines of what society calls normal, to question everything, and to find your own definition of family and freedom. Dr. Christine Marie, featured in the #1 Netflix documentary Trust Me: The False Prophet, joined us to unpack manipulation, control, and how even the smartest people can be led astray — and more importantly, how to find your way back.

These are not comfortable conversations. They are necessary ones.

And then there are the guests who show up to teach you how to build. Gary Vaynerchuk on turning obsession into empires. Evan Carmichael on finding your purpose and never letting go. David Meltzer on staying grateful and driven when the odds are stacked against you. Jim Kwik, author of Limitless, on unlocking what your mind is actually capable of. Dr. Laura Berman — Oprah’s go-to love expert — on grief, healing, and choosing to keep living fully. Dr. Nadine Macaluso on trauma and reclaiming your story. Dr. Sherrie Campbell on breaking free from toxic relationships for good. Gina DeVee, the woman who inspired this show to exist, on building a life entirely on your own terms. Kim D. from The Real Housewives and Lt. Joe Kenda, the Homicide Hunter, on the stories that shape us.

At the heart of every episode is one question: how do we actually live our best life — not the curated version, not the one we perform for others, but the real one? The one that lights us up, challenges us, and makes us feel fully alive. That is what we are building here, one conversation at a time.

Have you ever wondered why some people seem to effortlessly manifest success, abundance, love, and fulfillment—while others feel stuck repeating the same cycles? The answer may lie in understanding the Law of Attraction and how your thoughts, emotions, and actions work together to shape your reality.

In this powerful episode of The Obsessed Podcast, we break down how the Law of Attraction really works, demystify manifestation, and give you practical, real-world tools you can start using today to attract what you truly desire.

Join Julie Lokun, JD, Mika Altidor, and Tia Morell Walden as we explore the science-meets-spirituality principles behind manifestation, featuring insights from Michael Losier, internationally recognized Law of Attraction expert and featured guest on The Oprah Show.

Grab your favorite drink, get comfortable, and get Obsessed with creating the life you were meant to live.

What Is the Law of Attraction?

    (00:00:00 – 00:01:51)

At its core, the Law of Attraction is based on one simple truth:

Your thoughts and feelings create your reality.

Everything you experience—relationships, career opportunities, confidence, abundance—begins with your internal world. The Law of Attraction teaches that like attracts like, meaning the energy you put out is the energy you receive back.

    Thought alone isn’t enough.
Aligned action is what activates manifestation.

The Core Mechanics of the Law of Attraction

    Positive vs. Negative Energy

Your mindset acts like a magnet:

    • Positive thoughts and emotions attract opportunities, growth, and aligned people

    • Negative thoughts and self-talk attract resistance, fear, and limitation

Awareness is the first step to shifting your energy.

The 3 Steps to Manifestation: How the Law of Attraction Works

    (00:03:51 – 00:05:11)

    Step 1: Ask

Be crystal clear about what you want.

    Manifestation tools include:

    • Writing your desires down

    • Visualization practices

    • Feeling the emotion of already having it

    Clarity creates momentum.

    Step 2: Believe

Belief is the bridge between desire and reality.

    • Trust the process

    • Release doubt and fear

    • Act as if your desire is already unfolding

    Belief isn’t passive—it’s intentional confidence.

    Step 3: Receive

This is where many people get stuck.

    • Stay open to opportunities

    • Practice gratitude for small wins

    • Say “yes” when alignment shows up

    Receiving requires trust and readiness.

Manifesting in Real Time: Daily Practices That Work

    (00:05:11 – 00:09:10)

To activate the Law of Attraction consistently:

    • Practice daily visualization

    • Cultivate gratitude rituals

    • Eliminate negative self-talk

    • Take inspired action, even when it feels uncomfortable

    Manifestation is not magic—it’s momentum.

Final Thoughts on Manifestation & Mindset

    (00:09:10 – 00:09:42)

When your thoughts, emotions, and actions align, transformation happens.

    Remember:

    • Be patient—timing matters

    • Stay consistent

    • Trust yourself

    Visualize
    Practice gratitude
    Eliminate negative self-talk
    Take inspired action

And most importantly—get involved and share your journey with us.

The Most Important Message of The Year with Julie Lokun Dec 23, 2025
    Show notes

MEET US LIVE IN CHICAGO! LEARN MORE! www.cre8tivecon.com

What if this year is not about becoming someone new but about becoming a stronger, more intentional version of who you already are?

In this reflective solo episode of the Get Obsessed Podcast, host Julie Lokun, JD shares a powerful mindset shift for high achievers who feel overwhelmed by hustle culture, endless goal setting, and the pressure to constantly do more.

Julie reflects on the magic of the holidays through childhood eyes, the reality of adulthood responsibility, and the moment she realized that more goals did not equal more joy. Instead of embracing the tired phrase New Year, New You, she invites listeners to focus on intentional living rooted in clarity, energy protection, and alignment.

This episode is for entrepreneurs, creatives, leaders, and high performers who are ready to stop doing more and start doing what truly matters.

What You Will Learn in This Episode

Julie explains why New Year, New You is a myth and how New Year, Same You but Stronger creates sustainable momentum. She walks through the power of choosing one personal goal and one professional goal and how this approach reduces overwhelm while increasing fulfillment.

Listeners will learn why protecting physical and emotional energy is a non negotiable and how saying no without overexplaining creates freedom. Julie also addresses why rest and sleep are essential for clarity, creativity, and long term success.

On the professional side, Julie shares what it means to amplify fewer voices more powerfully. She explains why going deeper instead of wider creates exponential results and how aligned energy between collaborators is the foundation of meaningful growth.

Intentional Living and Honoring Your Season

This episode invites listeners to ask a critical question: What season of life am I in?

Julie encourages integration over pressure and reminds listeners that growth does not need to happen on a single day. She emphasizes honoring the lessons learned from the past year and recognizing resilience, even when healing feels incomplete.

    The Proof of Life Mindset

Julie introduces the concept of a proof of life list, a practice of acknowledging moments when you showed up despite adversity. Whether navigating relationship changes, health challenges, financial stress, or professional uncertainty, surviving counts and deserves recognition.

    Relationships Over Algorithms

Julie shares why some of her most meaningful opportunities came from conversations rather than content. By dialing down social media and prioritizing real relationships, she found deeper connection and greater professional impact.

    Expansion, Curiosity, and Beginner’s Brain

Listeners are encouraged to say yes to growth without pressure. Julie explores the idea of expansion through curiosity, new conversations, and experiences that place you back into beginner’s brain, a concept she learned from Jim Kwik.

    Planning Joy on Purpose

If joy is not scheduled, stress will be.

Julie challenges listeners to plan joy intentionally, whether through small moments of play, creativity, rest, or connection. Joy is not a reward. It is a requirement.

Faith, Sensuality & Breaking the Rules: Pamela Thibodeaux’s Bold Approach to Christian Romance Dec 02, 2025
    Show notes

    Welcome to Get Obsessed
Julie and Mika open the episode with a reflection on their shared obsession with romance, sensuality, dreaming, and the power of the written word. They introduce Pamela S. Thibodeaux, a woman whose storytelling lives at the intersection of faith, sensuality, and gritty realism.

    Pamela’s Writing Origin Story
Pamela shares how her writing journey began in her twenties, filling five-subject notebooks while raising young children. Without access to a computer or typewriter, she rented machines or borrowed them whenever she could—because the stories simply needed to come out.

    Discovering the Christian Market
Pamela explains the early challenges of writing romance with faith elements. Traditional Christian publishers wanted extremely conservative love stories:

    • no passionate kisses

    • no euphemisms like “heck” or “darn”

    • no unmarried characters alone together

    • no dancing unless it was “square dancing”
Her stories, full of sensuality, passion, complexity, and spiritual themes, didn’t fit the mold.

    Blending Sensuality & Spirituality
Pamela speaks about the moment she recommitted her life to God and asked to write fiction that glorifies Him—without sanitizing human passion. She believed (and still believes) that God created humans with desire, chemistry, and emotional depth, and that romance fiction should honor that.
Her tagline—“Inspirational with an Edge”—came organically from a bookstore manager who instantly recognized her voice.

The Struggle—and Freedom—of Finding the Right Market
Traditional Christian publishers found her books “too sensual.” Secular publishers found them “too much God.” Pamela had to find a lane for readers who wanted both. Small-press publishers embraced her work, and she eventually indie-published after getting her rights back.

Writing Real Life: Domestic Violence, Abuse & Healing
Pamela opens up about her own past—being young, married to an alcoholic, surviving domestic violence, raising children, and eventually finding safety and healing.
She talks about how life experiences naturally show up in her books, especially through:

    • characters overcoming abuse

    • emotional healing arcs

    • the tension between vulnerability and strength

    • the journey from fear to faith

One of her most powerful books was written in four months during tax season while working full-time—something she considers a divine co-creation.

    Faith Without Preaching
Pamela emphasizes she’s not writing for the already-convinced. Her books aren’t sermons, and her characters aren’t perfect. Instead, she writes for readers who may never go to church or pick up a Bible—but still crave meaning, hope, and spiritual truth.

The Role of Passion in Love
She speaks candidly about how emotional, spiritual, and physical intimacy are interconnected—and why she refuses to separate them in her fiction. She believes portraying passion isn’t sinful; it’s honest, healthy, and God-designed.

    Marriage, Divorce & Redemption
Julie and Pamela connect over their shared experience with divorce. Pamela shares that:

    • her first marriage was volatile

    • she left to protect herself and her children

    • she later remarried and was widowed

    • healing, forgiveness, and growth shaped her deeply

These life chapters add texture to the emotional resolution in her stories and to the compassion she brings to her characters.

    A Multifaceted Creative Life
Mika highlights Pamela’s passion for family, storytelling, The Chosen series, and her love for the Texas cowboy culture. Pamela speaks about writing stories set in the Texas Hill Country and her affection for cowboy romance rooted in faith and realism.

    Where to Find Pamela
    Pamela shares her platforms:

    • Website: pamelathibodeaux.com

    • Amazon & major retailers for her books

    • YouTube: A Novel Lunch (writing instruction)

    • YouTube: Coaching in PJ’s (life tips, personal growth)

    Closing
Julie and Mika thank Pamela for her authenticity, depth, vulnerability, and craft. Listeners are invited to rate, review, and subscribe for more inspiring conversations on love, passion, healing, and storytelling.
