    Episode 51: MORE Intentionality; Making the Days Matter Oct 25, 2021

    Today we welcome back to the podcast, Jenny Worsham, our Gather Groups Director. We’re closing out Season 5 with one of the hallmarks of Gather Moms which is choosing to mom with intentionality. We know that many days are spent playing catch-up with schedules, laundry and our to-do list, but we believe that making time for intentional moments with our kids is vitally important. Jenny shares with us about the history of Gather, a mom-hack brimming with intentionality and the beauty of community. Our monthly Gather groups have gotten an upgrade with a new video series produced in partnership with RightNow Media. Each core value will now feature a short video teaching that accompanies the study guide. We hope this encourages moms to set aside the time to embrace these values as they seek to teach and live them out in their homes. Check the links below to find the video teaching and study guides. We are willing to spend the time to look for the things that have some value here on Earth but are we willing to spend the time searching for what holds value in both this life and the life to come?

    Episode 49: MORE Vitality with Rebekah Lyons Oct 11, 2021

    We’re chatting with Rebekah Lyons on the podcast today! Rebekah is the mom of 4 kids ranging in age from 20 down to 8. She is both an adoptive and special needs mom. Rebekah wants MORE vitality for herself and moms. When was the last time you heard that word? Vitality means the state of being strong and active with energy. So often we live in a state of exhaustion, not vitality. Rebekah encourages us to shift our perspective towards vitality with proactive rhythms and disciplines. We also discuss suffering and how God anoints our pain to produce fruit. Part of suffering is accepting what is; a wayward child, a broken marriage, a crisis of health. Invite God into that pain and put him center stage. It is in that moment of weakness and despair that we find a sweet communion with the one who holds us close.

    Episode 48: MORE Prayer Oct 04, 2021

    Is your closet ready for fall? Rebecca is sharing some inexpensive mom-hacks to get your closet cleaned out and organized. One thing we don’t need more of is clothes. Take an audit of your closet and find some fall inspiration with all the great style you already have. An audit means to examine or investigate to improve something. Today we’re challenging all of us to take an audit of our prayer life because we could all use MORE prayer. Prayer is a conversation that includes both talking and listening. Bible hub explains the Greek word for prayer like this, “Interacting with the Lord by switching human wishes for His wishes as He imparts faith.” Prayer is definitely an opportunity for us to tell God what we desire, but we also need open hearts and hands to receive back His sovereign wisdom. Gather Moms believes that God truly knows best. You can come to God with all your worries and wishes and know that He is listening and has answers. So much of our time is spent making the lives of those around us better, but what could be more important than first praying for them? As we navigate life in 2021, we all need more prayer.

    Episode 47: MORE Soul Care with Jada Edwards Sep 27, 2021

    We’re chatting with Jada Edwards on the podcast today! Jada is the Creative Arts Director at One Community Church, which she calls her first baby. She is also the mother of 2 adopted kids, Joah and Chloe. She loves Jesus, the church, teaching, motherhood and wants MORE time alone to just think. She’s a creative who loves the opportunity to dream. Jada also shares the difference between soul care and self care. Soul care is feeding on God’s word and feeling satisfied. True restoration comes from time with God. Jada is currently teaching on the importance of the church. She reminds us that Jesus is the head of the church and established it for a purpose. We gather together at our Father’s house where we find community and fellowship with other believers. This is what the first church did and we should follow their example. Jada is so relatable and funny. Her practical wisdom will bless you as you listen!

    Episode 46: MORE Trust; Cradled in God’s Care Sep 20, 2021

    I wish we could wave a magic wand and make everything work out like we want. We live in a day when walking out the front door takes all the courage we can muster. What will today hold? Everything feels out of sorts, confusing and scary. We can all use more trust, but who or what are we trusting in? Here’s what I know about motherhood: I want my kids to trust me. I want them to know that I am always working for their good, always seeking their best interest, always there when they need me. Can you hear God saying the same things to us? God wants us to trust him in all these same ways and more. Today, Rebecca shares scriptures that remind us that our great God and Father is worthy of our trust. There is nothing and no one else that is truly capable of bringing about good in all situations. When you are afraid, you can trust God. When you misplace your comfort in what this world offers then choose instead to trust God. If you fill your heart and mind with God’s truth, then more trust will overflow from it.

    Episode 45: MORE God; Embracing Gospel Power Sep 13, 2021

    As we open this season and talk about all things more, we have to start it out right. We have to build this season on where we really find our more because if we start anywhere other than God, we will all be left disappointed. Today we’re talking about gospel indicatives and gospel imperatives. Gospel indicatives are what is true about you. Gospel imperatives are what you do in light of that truth. All Mamas love a good to-do list. The problem comes when nothing gets checked off the list because we need more energy, more time and more patience. Before you can follow the gospel imperatives, you need to remind yourself of who you are in Christ and why his power is what we need to more of in our daily lives. If you want more God, ask Him to open your eyes to see Him. Stop trying to do things for him and rest in what he has done for you.
