    Show notes

Ep. 167 - EDM fans need no introduction to this week's guest, the legendary DJ/Producer and founder of Dim Mak records, Steve Aoki. While food fans have likely heard of his equally legendary father and founder of Benihana, the late Rocky Aoki. We met up with Steve at Ledlow in Downtown L.A. where he shared with us some of the lessons he learned from his dad, and told us about the Vegan co-op he lived in during college, the restaurants he now owns, and what a day in his life is like. And obviously we talked to him about how he became so good at throwing sheet cakes.

LIVE from the East Side Food Fest Oct 20, 2015
    Show notes

Ep. 166 - Hear us podcast live at the East Side Food Fest this past weekend with special guests Noelle Scaggs from Fitz & the Tantrums, DJ Them Jeans (aka Jason Stewart), Chef Zach Pollack from Alimento in Los Angeles, and Nguyen Tran from Starry Kitchen. We talk about Starry Kitchen's journey from an illegal take out spot in a North Hollywood apartment to their latest iteration inside an Echo Park "Bar-cade". Zach Pollack goes off on Yelpers (especially the ones that bitch about his restaurant's water charge), and Noelle tells us some her favorite places to eat near where she grew up. And Jason tries to pry the secret to making a perfect chicken liver mousse out of Chef Pollack (with a very tiny degree of success.)

    Paul Stanley Oct 13, 2015
    Show notes

Ep. 165 - Legendary Kiss guitarist Paul Stanley is this week's podcast guest. Not only is he part owner in the chain Rock & Brews, but he is also a great cook. We talk to him about the food his mom made for him growing up, the wood fire brick oven he has in his house for making pizza, plus his tips on how to make meatballs. And he tells us all about it while taking down a pair of fish tacos at one of the newly opened Rock N Brews in CA.

THE WALKING DEAD Food Special w/ Emily Kinney Oct 06, 2015
    Show notes

Ep. 164 - If you are a Walking Dead fan you know this week's guest Emily Kinney as "Beth" but did you also know that she's a super talented singer/songwriter? Her new album "This is War" is out now, and for the first half of the podcast we treat her like any other musician guest, asking her about her love of coffee, the food she eats on tour, what she cooks, and who has better catering: Walking Dead or Masters of Sex (ok maybe that last one isn't something we ask every other musician.)
Then, on the second half of the episode, Emily joins us as we count down the Top 10 Greatest Food Moments of the Walking Dead to gear up for the Season 6 premiere this Sunday, October 11th. We start with a burger and fries in a cop car and end with... well... you probably know what we end with. Warning: if you're not caught up with Walking Dead, there are a ton of spoilers.

    Kelis Sep 28, 2015
    Show notes

Ep 163 - Excited to finally have singer Kelis on the podcast, who you probably know as the singer of the Milkshake Song, but did you also know she's a trained Cordon Bleu chef? She has a cookbook coming out this week called "My life on a plate: recipes from around the world" as well as a line of sauces called Bounty & Full and we talk about all of it. Plus, what's better Auntie Anne's or Wetzel's Pretzels.

    Rohan Marley Sep 22, 2015
    Show notes

Ep. 162 - Bob Marley's son Rohan stops by the podcast to tell us his entire life story, from Jamaica to Miami (where he went to the same high school as Zach) to playing football, then back to Jamaica- where he now owns a huge plot of land where coffee is grown. He has since started Marley Coffee, which he also tells us all about.

    Michael Cimarusti Sep 15, 2015
    Show notes

Ep. 161 - This week's podcast guest is Michael Cimarusti, the chef of Connie & Ted's and Providence (which is widely considered the best restaurant in Los Angeles.) We talk to him about reggae (he did a reggae college radio show) and the Grateful Dead, plus argue about whether or not Miley Cyrus has ruined the Flaming Lips. He tells us about the time John Paul Jones ate at Providence and about Dock to Dish, the new sustainable seafood CSA for restaurants he helped bring to the west coast. WARNING: This podcast has some serious man on man bonding between Michael and our guest co-host Jeff Miller (L.A. editor of Thrillist).
