    Show notes

Ep. 177 - You might know this week's guest Phil Rosenthal as the creator of the long running sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond, or the star of the hilarious documentary Exporting Raymond. But his real passion is food, and nowhere is that more apparent than on his brand new PBS TV show "I'll Have What Phil's Having". We talk to him about his Mom's love of opera, his obsession with Springsteen, and the time he met Paul McCartney.

    Offspring's Dexter Holland Jan 05, 2016
    Show notes

Ep. 176 - If you know Dexter Holland, it is likely as the spiky haired lead singer of the seminal pop punk band The Offspring. But did you also know that he has his own line of hot sauces called Gringo Bandito? Zach sits down with him to talk all things hot sauce, including how he got into the business and what his thoughts are about other hot sauces. Then, half way through the interview our friend Jeff Miller (Editor of Thrilist in L.A. and lead singer of the Black Crystal Wolf Kids) shows up with a dozen donuts from Blue Star, and the podcast turns into anarchy as the three of us just start stuffing our faces with hot sauce topped everything.

    Russell Moore Dec 22, 2015
    Show notes

Ep. 175 - Chef Russell Moore might not be a household name around the country, but in Northern California he is well known for her 20 years spent cooking at Chez Panisse, and his new restaurant Camino in Oakland. His cookbook "This is Camino" was named one of the best of 2015 by Bon Appetit and others. But what you may not have known about Chef Russell Moore is that he grew up going to punk shows in and around Redondo Beach, including the legendary Black Flag show at The Fleetwood. He tells us all about that, plus the times he appeared on TV shows as a "punk rock kid".

Plus he tells us all about the sandwich that graces the cover of his new album "I'm on a Roll", and his plans to enter a chili cook off and wreak havoc. Jeff Miller, from the band Black Crystal Wolf Kids, joins us as co-host.

Along with drummer Francis Castagnetti (also from Union), Guitarist Ben Offenberg (from Resy), and pro musician Jeff Liffman, the band talks about how they came together, and what their plans for the future are. Plus, at the end, they do an acoustic version of a Foo Fighters song.

    Moby Returns! Nov 24, 2015
    Show notes

Ep. 171 - The one and only MOBY returns to the podcast to talk about his brand new vegan restaurant Little Pine, which opened last week in the Silverlake neighborhood of Los Angeles. He's not doing the cooking, but he's been involved in every aspect of the restaurant, including the design, and curation of a small store in the front. We also talk to him about how difficult L.A. makes it for people opening new restaurants. Then, at the very end we talk about his relationship with Thanksgiving, which can be a pretty traumatizing holiday for Vegans.
