Behind the Scenes: Storytelling w Jon Goff Sep 01, 2017

Show notes

Our sixth installment of the Behind the Scenes series gave the team a chance to sit down with Jon Goff to chat about the process of creating one of the common interests for our community in particular - the stories we experience via video games. As one of the writers responsible for the creation of the vast and richly detailed world we see in Destiny, Jon brought a wealth of information to the conversation - from discussion on the inspiration of the infamous Story of Yor to a brief explanation of some of the different mediums and their process of character creation. It should also be noted that there are a few trivia points in this episode concerning the stories that he's written (as well as a great discussion about the subtle differences in motivating players to do what they need to do in a game.

Ep 98 - Lore Update (New Monarchy) Aug 25, 2017

Show notes

Episode 98 brings Blue, Green, and special guest co-host Sir Wallen together to chat about those who seek to abolish the Consensus in favor of a new monarch - and who really like the color red. That's right - New Monarchy is on the chopping block this week...and, as we promised Green, we make sure to keep the salt out of the conversation (mostly). The team enjoys the opportunity to also chat about what they hope to see from the Factions as a whole in Destiny 2 - so be sure to stick around for that chat at the end as well!

Ep 97 - Lore Dive (Striker) Aug 20, 2017

Show notes

Episode 97 brings Blue, Green, Justin, and special guest co-host BeardGrizzly together to talk (or at least try to talk) about the infamous Striker Titans. Fair warning - Beard and Blue feed off each other when it comes to jumping into tangents (one of which is Team Four Star, apparently), so be ready for some hilarious connections and jokes galore. The team starts off with the general concept of what makes the Striker titan different (especially from the other Arc subclasses) before moving onto discussion which figures in the current game we're pretty sure are members of this subclass. Finally, we tackle the difficult question of the explanation of the upcoming changes in the mechanics of the Striker as seen in Destiny 2.

Ep 96 - Lore Dive (Stormcaller) Aug 13, 2017

Show notes

Episode 96 brings Blue and Justin back together to discuss the electrifying figures of the Stormcaller Warlocks. Blue also takes a few minutes at the start of the show to discuss some developments that had been posted about over on the website for those who might not be in the Discord chat (jump in if you're not!) - so please be sure to weigh in on that as well! As always, the pair bring a sense of humor to the topic, and we truly hope you enjoy the conversation about those wielders of space magic who have a strong tendency to make it rain.

Ep 95 - Lore Update (Dead Orbit) Aug 06, 2017

Show notes

Episode 95 brings Blue, Green, and Justin back together to discuss those in the City who look beyond. Beyond the walls, beyond the earth, beyond even the Traveler and the supposed salvation that it offers humanity. They see another future among the light of other stars. They see the Traveler and Earth itself as nothing more than celestial bodies caught in a dead orbit - a name which, appropriately they have taken for their own.

And yes, Justin and Green have decided to go with the themed names - so bear with Blue while he tries to keep up with the shenanigans that are happening in the Discord server.

Extra Lore 17 - Horizon Zero Dawn Aug 04, 2017

Show notes

Our 17th installment of the Extra Lore series brings Blue, Green, Justin, and special guest co-host InfestedPotatoe together to take an introductory look into the rich world of Horizon Zero Dawn. While most of this episode is concerned with a general summary of the title (small spoiler warnings), there is also a discussion on the details of the different types of mechanical figures, the various purposes of the subroutines experienced in the game, as well as a very brief look at the history of the story-world that led to the events that the players experience in game.

Ep 94 - Lore Dive (Defenders) Jul 30, 2017

Show notes

Episode 94 brings Blue, Green, Justin, and returning special guest co-host, PurpleChimera together to chat about the Defender Titans - those stalwart warriors of the Light who protect the Last City from the forces of Darkness and who literally put themselves in the path of any who would do their allies harm. There are a few great side conversations (one of which is the exploration of Facebook that Justin details out...you have to hear that one to believe it) in this episode - so definitely be sure to stick around for the whole chat!

Ep 93 - Lore Dive (Bladedancer) Jul 23, 2017

Show notes

Episode 93 brings Blue, Green, Justin, and returning special guest co-host, PurpleChimera back together to chat about the Bladedancer Hunters - and discuss other important things (tangents are Purple's favorite thing EVER). Justin amazes the crowd with his knowledge (and excitement) of how the abilities of the Bladedancer can be seen in our world via the electric currents, Blue (as always) dives into a tangent about the interesting trivia of the Mask of the Third Man, all the while Green and Purple put up a valiant fight to keep everyone on topic (they're really good at this, folks).

Ep 92 - Lore Update (Cabal Empire) Jul 15, 2017

Show notes

Episode 92 brings Blue, Green, and Justin back together to discuss the various ideas that have been debated about the Cabal since year one as well as begin the discussion about Ghaul, the newest adversary in Destiny 2. The team enjoys the antics of Justin's inability to make his computer behave as well (auto muting is a real thing, people) and even get to discuss a fair amount of Roman history (forgive Blue for the tangents).

Be sure to also stick around until the end of the show for a really special announcement from Blue.

Extra Lore 16 - Halo Jul 14, 2017

Show notes

Our 16th installment of the Extra Lore series brings Blue, Green, Justin, and returning special guest co-host PenHalo together to discuss the universe of Halo - specifically the mysteries of Dr. Catherine Halsey, the Spartan-II program, and Cortana. The intial conversation focuses around a recap of the timeline discussed in the previous Halo Extra Lore episode, but once we have the basic facts mostly out of the way, the debate over the morality of Halsey truly starts. We would love to hear your thoughts on this one especially - so be sure to send 'em in!
