Finding the Throughline with Kate Hanley

Finding the Throughline: Conversations about the Creative Process invites you into the minds of writers and other creatives as they open up about their process, their doubts, and what kinds of changes they’re thinking about making. The questions are mildly invasive, honestly, and the answers are unvarnished…and so refreshing!
Whether your creative work is writing, painting, making music, parenting, or simply living, Finding the Throughline can help you get—and stay—inspired. Invigorated, even.

    A Three-Minute Writing Prompt for Peaceful Productivity. EP: 593 Dec 07, 2021
    Show notes

While, yes, writing is a great way to get to know yourself better, it can also help you be more productive. And not the whirling dervish, work on a ton of things at once and end the day in an exhausted heap, kind of productivity. But peaceful productivity, where you can get in a zone because you know you’re working on the right thing for the right reason and the right time. Yes, please!

How You--Yes You--Can Use Writing as a Tool for Personal Growth. EP: 592 Dec 06, 2021
    Show notes

Writing has this mystique, like it’s something only for certain people, and that’s just a darned shame because writing is just a magical, and powerful way to get to know, understand, and even like and appreciate yourself more. It’s a tool that you just don’t want to leave on the table simply because there’s a story in your head that you’re ‘not a writer.’

Today’s big idea is an elemental truth: which is that you ARE a writer. And I've got a quick meditation and writing prompt to help you feel that in your bones (and actually write something cool).

The Problems with Wellness 4 Its a Slippery Slope to Rigid Thinking. EP: 591 Dec 03, 2021
    Show notes

Consuming wellness content is kinda like that board game for kids Chutes and Ladders. It starts off like a ladder Take these steps to get your health to a better place. It’s cool, you’re learning things, getting ideas, trying them out in your own life, hopefully enjoying some tangible evidence of feeling better.

But you can also be moseying along and then boom, fall down a chute into some pretty hairy spaces. For example, falling pray to conspiracy thinking. Today I look at why that is and how you can keep your wits about you.

One of the problems with wellness is that it’s freaking expensive. And for that reason, it’s also elitist. Buying organic, grass-fed, Fair Trade all costs more. Add to that supplements, like omega 3s, and probiotics, and protein powders, organic mattresses and infrared saunas and it's like an exclusive realm only for 1 percenters. Today I'm sharing five FREE and powerful ways to boost your health and helping you think of the money you do spend on your health as a worthy investment instead of chasing the latest fad.
