    BTCS.com — From Bitcoin's Prehistory, Till Now Aug 15, 2017
    Show notes

BTCS was there at the beginning of the Blockchain space—before the Blockchain space was even a space. "We're actually the first public company focused on Bitcoin and Blockchain technologies. We've been around since 2013," says BTCS CEO Charles Allen. Since then, it's been an interesting journey. Over the years, BTCS has changed, grown, evolved. BTCS started as an e-commerce site: the first place you could buy physical goods on the Internet with Bitcoin. After going public, BTCS made some strategic investments in other Bitcoin businesses, expanding. At the end of 2016, they were mining Bitcoin. Hit play to learn more about BTCS's journey. Show notes

Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin are starting to matter more and more—to more and more people. Big, sweeping decisions made in Washington D.C. are starting to impact people holding or investing in crypto. And as such, this growing contingent needs representation in the nation's capital. Not only that, but existing legislation is affected by new forms of money. This is where Coin Center comes in. "Coin Center is a non-profit research and advocacy center that is focused on the public policy questions that have emerged thanks to the development of Bitcoin and other decentralized computing platforms like Ethereum, and Dash," explains Coin Center director of research Peter Van Valkenburgh. For technologists and policymakers alike, Coin Center is a central point of contact, the nerve center of crypto in this country. Tune in to learn more about Coin Center, and to hear more from Peter Van Valkenburgh. Be sure to subscribe and review, and if you can, consider donating some Bitcoin to the cause

The NEM Blockchain Managing Assets with Customizability Flexibility And Efficiency Aug 09, 2017
    Show notes

When a group of high-powered developers from around the world came together to start a project that would become known as the NEM Foundation, they weren't compelled by the intention of targeting particular markets or rising quickly to notoriety. Instead, they were compelled by their own interest, and by the potential to benefit people. "We're going about things a little bit differently. Rather than focusing on our coin price and marketing ourselves up front, we're laying the groundwork so that as these waves of blockchain deployment come out, we're hoping to be right on the leading edge as they go because of the way we've designed things," says Matthew Hine, Head of Operations of the North American branch of the NEM Foundation. Since the beginning, the NEM Foundation has remained development-driven, which is just one characteristic that sets NEM apart from the rest. The majority of NEM blockchain apps are for the purpose of managing assets, and are uniquely built around a smart asset system which allows users to customize how they use the blockchain. Hit play to hear Hine discuss more on this topic. Hine also discusses: * The completely functional and fundamental value of NEM's cryptocurrency, XEM * NEM's use of a modified version of proof of stake, referred to as proof of importance * The role and benefit of fixed assets called Mosaics * Catapult- the upcoming new platform that is a complete core rewrite of the NEM software in C++, offering increased performance and additional features

Enigma – User Created AI Trading Bots In a Decentralized Data Marketplace Aug 09, 2017
    Show notes

In 2015, a group of researchers at MIT released a paper that discussed decentralized data marketplaces- an idea that would soon form the roots and vision of Enigma. One of those researchers was Can Kisagun, who is now a Co-founder at Enigma. "We really want to rethink how data is shared, aggregated and monetized in today's world," says Kisagun. The goal of Enigma is to provide data and research tools that will allow people to build their own algorithms, which in turn will empower them to make better trading decisions. Kisagun believes that this is necessary in order to help level the playing field between the average person and the algorithmic bots against which they often trade in the marketplace. Enigma allows its users the freedom to "build, test, and master winning investment strategies," leading to greater returns on investments, and better chances at beating out their competitors. Enigma is building an open, decentralized data marketplace and tools for data curators and consumers. Their product is Catalyst, which allows anyone to create, test, and deploy data-driven crypto investment strategies. The Enigma token sale is coming up on August 21. You can get more information on their website – www.enigma.co – and their blog – blog.enigma.co. For any questions, please join their 1000+ person Slack community at slack.enigma.co.Tune in to hear more. Kisagun also discusses: * The five factors that characterize the evolution of different token projects (both pre and post-ICO) over time * Upcoming goals of Enigma, including live market simulations to help prepare users to trade on the real market * Problems with current Data Aggregation and Monetization

Epoch Times — An Alternative Source of Objective Mainstream News Aug 08, 2017
    Show notes

Valentin Schmidt, Business and Finance Editor of Epoch Times, discusses what sets them apart from traditional mainstream media. Epoch Times was created in 2000 by a group of Chinese-American dissidents and Falun Gong practitioners, who strongly objected to Communist Party propaganda being repeated around the world as independent news. Their parent company, Epoch Media Group, is now the world's largest independent Chinese language media group. Because they allow no corporate or political sponsors, and focus on delivering the facts without emotions, they have earned a reputation as being an objective source of mainstream news from around the world in all major languages. Listen as we discuss layout and content differences between Epoch Times and more traditional news outlets such as the New York Times, challenges that all media outlets face in today's world, and the propaganda strategy of "fake news." NewStore — A Fully Integrated and Personalized Mobile Retail Experience Aug 08, 2017
    Show notes

Ulrike Mueller, CTO of NewStore, talks about the benefits of integrating online e-commerce, inventory, and Point of Sale systems into a seamless mobile retail experience for consumers. You've been browsing the mobile app of your favorite retail store. When you walk into a brick-and-mortar location, a sales associate is alerted to assist you. Based on your previous transactions, they can recommend items, styles, or colors that you seem to favor. If something is out of stock, they can instantly tell you another store where you can purchase it. Once you've finished your personalized shopping experience, the sales associate can process your transaction on the spot. If you go home, and decide to return an item, you can handle the return directly through the mobile app. All of these features, and more, could be coming your way soon.

    Jaxx — A Browser for Blockchain Aug 07, 2017
    Show notes

What the browser was to the Internet, Jaxx is intended to be for Blockchain. COO of Jaxx, Charlie Shrem, explains. "Instead of using four or five different apps on your iPhone or android you'll just need to use Jaxx; it'll be everything." Jaxx supports multiple coins and tokens, making it the single place where you can manage all your Blockchain assets. As you can imagine, taking on an ICO requires a lot of evaluation—evaluation that is up to the complexity of its subject. "There's so many different metrics that we use when we're evaluating a different project." Tune in to learn more about how Charlie and Anthony make these important decisions. Subscribe, review, and if you can, donate a few Bitcoin to the cause.

GeekTime Media — A Global Media Perspective on Start-Ups and Tech Flows Aug 07, 2017
    Show notes

Yaniv Feldman, Co-Founder and Chief Editor of GeekTIme Media, discusses why it's important to look beyond the US for start-up and tech news. When you read articles about the latest start-up or technology company, chances are it's located in Silicon Valley or New York City–70% of venture capital goes to Silicon Valley alone. But despite lack of money, potentially unfriendly business laws and regulations, and cultures that have yet to fully understand and integrate with entrepreneurship culture, 14/20 of the biggest IPOs and 50% of business unicorns (companies valued at over $1B) are not US companies. A network of over 1500 contributors in 110 countries provide articles about the changing start-up ecosystems and new trends in tech flows happening around the world every day, even in the most unlikely of places.

But more and more people are learning that there's absolutely no reason it has to be this way. "We do everything an agent would do, but we do it with data; we use deep learning, artificial intelligence and big data to find buyers and sellers," says Jack Ryan, CEO of REX Real Estate. But the benefits that REX Real Estate offer extend even beyond efficiency and affordability, so hit play to hear more. Ryan also discusses: REX Real Estate's use of in-home robots programmed to answer-with almost 100% accuracy- any variant of the 75 most commonly asked questions by potential buyers The details of how his company uses technology to identify likely buyers and sellers, including the digital analysis of longitudinal and latitudinal changes in consumer behavior How big data is being utilized to monitor conversion rates and provide real-time demand metrics on consumers' homes
