Tim Roughton–Partner at Pinsent-Masons–Thoughts on blockchain integration for large corporations and banks Sep 21, 2017
    Show notes

Pinsent-Masons is a UK-based international law firm, specializing in 5 different sectors. Through the manufacturing/technology sector, they assist large corporations, banks, and even insurance companies in the legal aspects of adopting blockchain and distributed ledger technologies. Most large companies see these technologies as both threats and opportunities for innovation and collaboration. Because of the lack of a centralized authority, legal hurdles are created when companies want to introduce smart contracts into their business models. However, in the future he sees an increased use of bitcoin and ethereum blockchains for all types of use cases, including international payments–any scenario where the removal of a central record keeper has the ability to reduce costs and increase solutions for money laundering and fraud prevention. New Money Mastermind, a paid group for investors with $10K in cryptocurrency and some knowledge of bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general 2. Crypto Curious People, a free group for individuals who are interested in learning more about cryptocurrency and investing, but don't know where to start. COREY TODARO OF HASHED HEALTH- TRANSFORMATIONAL BLOCKCHAIN AND DISTRIBUTED LEDGER TECHNOLOGIES FOR THE HEALTHCARE INDUSTRY Sep 21, 2017
    Show notes

The healthcare industry is "Byzantinely complex," says Corey Todaro, one of the founders of Hashed Health. The freedom to choose from a variety of different providers, says Todaro, "makes a true longitudinal view of a single patient almost an impossibility…it takes a tremendous amount of resources to identify you in different systems and to have a full understanding of your health condition." For many, the disorganization of the healthcare industry and the inconsistencies that emerge from it are unsettling. Todaro believes that blockchain and distributer ledger technology can provide the solution. "Blockchain pulls transactional players together onto a common and shared transactional platform, so even though we have a diversity of enterprise types…blockchains allow all of these diverse entities to interoperate together in a more efficient and a more promising way." The ideas and efforts put forth by Hashed Health hold great promise for the future of the healthcare industry. Tune in to learn more. Todaro also discusses: The difference between and importance of provider identity management and patient identity management in creating a more efficient delivery of healthcare services How to reconcile the transparency of the blockchain with the need to protect and secure PHI on the blockchain What's on the horizon for Hashed Health, including the upcoming blockchain healthcare conference and a unique token offering

Daniil Saiko and Brad Loder, Cambridge Global Payments and Foreign Exchange Provider Sep 20, 2017
    Show notes

Cambridge Global Payments is a foreign exchange and payments provider, focused on building cryptocurrency infrastructure with greater end-user transparency. Currently through swift payments, parties receive notification that the requested payment has been made. However, those same parties cannot see where that money has gone once it leaves the transaction originator. This poses problems when banks decide to hold on to payments, or to subtract large fees from the amount being transferred. Cambridge Global Payments aims to bring transparency and control back to users, with quick and efficient transfers and greater transparency. Though the trend is moving from batch processing to real-life instantaneous processing, they estimate that corporate payments will be slower to adapt than other types of payments, as large companies are content with the current system. Pedro Anderson–COO of Winding Tree – A decentralized, open-source blockchain platform for the Travel Industry Sep 20, 2017
    Show notes

Currently, most travel bookings are made through online travel aggregators such as Expedia or Priceline, which use technology that is decades old. These platforms charge large fees to sell hotels and flights to consumers, but may not always have up-to-date inventory listings, collect consumer data, and overall provide lower value to consumers. Winding Tree is an open-source, non-profit travel distribution platform, that doesn't charge fees to list available inventory for purchase. Because it is ethereum-based, inventory availability is easily verified and consumer data is kept private. Winding Tree has been popular with travel providers and agents, and their upcoming token sale in November 2017 provides the opportunity for the public to get involved.

Texas Huck, CTO of KoreCoin — The revival of Kore Coin and a Blockchain-Based Phone Sep 19, 2017
    Show notes

Everyone has the unalienable right to privacy and security. That's the KoreCoin philosophy, and they are hard at work creating a range of projects with that goal in mind. Their cryptocurrency, KoreCoin, utilizes proof of burn technology, and consensus governance through proof of stake with masternodes. Their desktop wallet integrates TOR privacy features, including the use of anonymous onion wallets. Down the road, they plan to incorporate tumbler to increase the security offered to users. They are also in the process of creating the KorePhone, a mobile phone that encrypts, or otherwise makes private, all access and communications between its users. Finally, they have begun to purchase and deploy cryptocurrency ATMs, allowing users to make withdrawals in several cryptocurrencies, including KoreCoin. For more information, visit the Bitcoin Talk Forum, keyword search KoreCoin 2.0, or visit their website at www.korecoin.net.

Dror Medallion–bitJob.io: A decentralized peer-to-peer marketplace connecting university students with job opportunities Sep 19, 2017
    Show notes

College students know the struggle of finding jobs after they graduate–how can you get a job, which requires experience, when you need the experience to get a job? BitJob hopes to change that by creating an Ethereum-based, smart contracts platform that connects employers with short-term, online work to undergraduate students who are looking for work in their fields. Students can choose to be paid in fiat or bitJob's STU token. A two-way ranking system, in which employers can rate students and vice versa, helps to create dynamic resumes for students, and trust in employers using the system. It will also include a freelance segment for recent graduates, to help ease them into the job market. With business, academic, and student club partners, bitJob is set to revolutionize the way students earn money and gain occupational experience.

Steve Kanaval, Head of Content at Equities.com and Cryptosumer.com — Thoughts on the Future of Cryptocurrencies and Regulations Sep 19, 2017
    Show notes

As a long time stock and equities trader on the Mercantile exchange, Steve Kanaval has seen commodities rise and fall, and several market bubbles and crashes. He believes that cryptocurrency is not a fad–there will be some growing pains, but cryptocurrency is a paradigm shift in the way that people interact with each other that is here to stay. As news around the globe indicates that some governments plan to become more involved in regulating cryptos, Kanaval warns that cryptocurrencies in the US must start to regulate themselves, or be forced into potentially harmful regulations through the SEC. Because the risks and rewards of investing in cryptocurrency are perfectly balanced at this point in time, cryptocurrencies should overall grow much larger, and it is estimated that crypto will become ubiquitous within 18 months to 3 years. Through both websites, equities.com and cryptosumer.com, he provides helpful market information for both traditional assets and cryptocurrencies. John Lyotier–RightMesh.io: A decentralized, peer-to-peer mobile mesh network Sep 19, 2017
    Show notes

The idea for RightMesh began when its founders realized that their team in Bangladesh had to have all of their employees stop using the internet in order for them to Skype with their Canadian headquarters, due to bandwidth limitations. As most of what they were doing was sharing files back and forth, on devices that can both send and receive signals, they thought it was silly to have to disrupt their work. Thus, their idea for a decentralized peer-to-peer network that doesn't rely on sending signals through ISPs or wireless companies was born. The underlying software to allow this can be built within any new application, and sends signals through WiFi, bluetooth, and WiFi Direct nodes directly to other devices. This promises to have a profound effect across developing areas of the world with high population density and low internet connectivity.
