LBRY — Jeremy Kauffman, Co-Founder and CEO — Decentralized, Open-Source Digital Media Protocol on The Blockchain Jan 23, 2018
    Show notes

Some of the biggest problems with digital media content today are that distributors charge massive fees or take a huge cut of profits, while essentially owning the content that they distribute. LBRY hopes to change that with their decentralized, open-source digital media protocol.Because of its decentralized structure, LBRY allows content creators to share their content without giving up ownership rights and doesn't charge fees to distribute content. LBRY sees blockchain as a way to provide its content creators and consumers with the ultimate digital content experience–changes and upgrades will be made based on giving the user the best experience possible, not necessarily the latest-and-greatest in blockchain technology, and they believe that the price of their token, LBRY Credit (LBC), will reflect this. Jeremy also discusses what he sees as the future of the entertainment and media consumption industries over the next 3-5 years, and how shifts in those industries will be good for creators. Abra — Bill Barhydt, Founder and CEO — Wallet That Holds Cryptocurrencies and Fiat Directly on Your Smartphone Jan 22, 2018
    Show notes

Abra is believed to be the first digital currency wallet that allows its users to buy and sell both cryptocurrencies and fiat directly through their smartphone. In order to remain compliant with banking regulations, Abra is fully non-custodial, meaning that users hold their own private keys on their devices through the use of multi-signature security technology, and Abra is never actually in charge of or otherwise holding user's money. Abra will also allow users to swap between cryptocurrencies and fiat held through the wallet. Abra hopes to be available for individuals around the world to use, without respect to a geographical location or requiring that users have a bank account. Because of this goal, and their desire to produce it right the first time, they developed and tested their product over a period of several years. Today, Abra has thousands of users worldwide and has processed millions in payments. Bill also discusses the wallet industry, and why competition is beneficial for the consumer, his thoughts on the current slump in cryptocurrency markets, and the relationship between the speculative and utilitarian values of cryptocurrency. Icomplyico — Qayyum Rajan And Matthew Unger — Automated Compliance Platform For Regulated Digital Assets Jan 19, 2018
    Show notes

ICOs, or Initial Coin Offerings, are a new and interesting way to raise money for a start-up or business-one of the reasons they are so interesting is because they have the potential to raise millions of dollars, but few consider investor protection, due diligence, and regulation compliance. Contrast this to banks, who spend 10% of their yearly gross revenue on AML compliance alone. The bottom line is that while regulatory compliance isn't easy or fun, it is also not optional. iComplyICO hopes to make that a bit easier for their clients by offering a customizable, automated compliance platform for ICOs. The iComplyICO platform is based on an open protocol that can handle both the initial issuance and secondary trading of tokens across multiple blockchains. There are two parts to the platform–first is a zero-knowledge proof that allows ICOs to see that purchasers have passed AML/KYC requirements, but don't show all of the purchaser's information. The second part is a secondary trading piece that can keep an ICO compliant by creating a geofence for where tokens can be resold. Also discussed is the future of AML/KYC compliance. iComplyICO is also accepting applications for companies looking to create AML-compliant ICOs. For more information, visit www.icomplyico.com.

Joytoken — Andrew MacDonald, CEO — E-Gaming Platform for the Next Generation of Game Developers Jan 19, 2018
    Show notes

Currently the online casino gaming industry is not willing to take creative risks with new games for the future–instead, they are staying with the same types of games that they know are currently popular. JoyToken aims to give game developers a place to take those risks and offer new games to the public. Through the JoyToken platform, their API has been made available to game developers, who are able to create their own games and submit them through the platform. JoyToken will review the games to make sure that they are up to quality standards, and then will publish them on their platform under their license. This enables independent game developers to make games that they are interested and get them to market, without having to worry about purchasing an expensive license. The use of smart contracts will enable JoyToken to accurately record, secure, and audit user data. Developers will purchase JoyTokens to get on to the platform, and will be paid the revenues from their games in JoyTokens, which will keep the JoyToken economy strong. The JoyToken ICO starts in February 2018. Also during the next year, JoyToken will look at integrating Bitcoin, will hopefully finalize exciting new partnerships, and will release the updated website with an optimized user experience. Cryptohwwallet — Joseph Wang, Founder and CEO — World's Largest Crypto Hardware Wallet and Accessory Superstore Jan 18, 2018
    Show notes

Joseph Wang has been personally involved in cryptospace since 2014; however, after a bad experience where he had his Bitcoin stolen, he realized that he needed to look into better hardware wallets in order to keep his Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies safe. Because hardware wallets are designed to hold private keys securely in the device's MCU and prevent them from being released even when the wallet is connected to the Internet, it is a much more secure way of holding cryptocurrency. He decided to create a crypto hardware wallet superstore, which now carries all of the major hardware wallets. Joseph discusses the pros and cons of each of wallets, the difference between hot and cold storage, and new updates coming to hardware wallets in the next year. He also briefly touches on the recent hacking news, and how new crypto users can keep themselves safe. Joseph and CryptoHWwallet will be at the Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Blockchain Superconference in Dallas, Texas from February 16-18, and will be focusing on hardware wallets, cases, and accessories. Winding Tree — Pedro Anderson, Co-Founder And Chief Operating Officer — Award-Winning, Blockchain-Based Decentralized Marketplace For The Travel Industry Jan 17, 2018
    Show notes

After working in the travel industry, and seeing firsthand the problems and inefficiencies that can arise from centralized, monopolistic industry practices, Winding Tree was founded in order to change how the travel industry functions. The founders realized that blockchain could be used to solve some of the biggest problems, including industry domination by a handful of distributors and high fees charged in order to list inventory for sale. Travel suppliers can integrate with the Winding Tree platform to list available inventory, and then travel startups and point-of-sale locations, such as travel agents, can integrate with the platform and sell inventory directly to consumers. Winding Tree is a non-profit and doesn't charge fees to use their platform, which helps keep costs low and everyone working towards the goal of a more efficient travel industry. A prototype has been published through Githubthat is available for testing. Winding Tree plans to begin an ICO in early February 2018, after issues with changing regulations in Switzerland pushed back their start date from last November. Pedro also briefly discusses what he sees as the future of the travel industry. For more information, visit www.windingtree.com.

Repux — Tomasz Tybon, Management Team — Blockchain-Based Data Marketplace for Small and Medium-Sized Businesses Jan 16, 2018
    Show notes

Massive amounts of data are produced every year by businesses of all sizes, but in very few cases is the full utility of that data ever realized. Repux offers a secure, blockchain-based marketplace for businesses to sell the data that they create. The data is then purchased by scientists in the Artificial Intelligence field, who analyze it in order to train their AI algorithms. The use of blockchain assures that the only people with access to the data are the creator and the purchaser. The analyzed data is then offered back to the original businesses, who can purchase it in order to make data-driven decisions that will help them increase profits and expand their businesses.Though there are many use cases where this is beneficial to businesses, it is particularly helpful for small businesses who sell their products through online marketplaces such as Amazon or Shopify. Users of the Repux marketplace use Repux tokens for their transactions, and Repux plans a token sale to begin in February 2018. At the same time, they will focus on improving security features, and making sure data sets are useful. Tomasz also discusses the future of data and blockchain integration.
