Freeross.Org — Lyn Ulbricht, Mother of Ross Ulbricht, Creator and Operator of Silk Road — Updates On Ross' Case, And What the Future May Hold For All of Us Feb 01, 2018
    Show notes

Ross Ulbricht was an idealist who wanted to provide the world with space for individuals to trade goods in a way that lived out his free-market principles, and he was excited about Bitcoin's potential to help people achieve this while maintaining their privacy. For the creation of Silk Road, a dark web marketplace based on these principles, he has been given two life sentences plus an additional 40 years in a federal, maximum-security prison. Lyn, Ross' mother, discusses their past legal battles and problems with the federal government's case, and their upcoming Supreme Court petition, which is based on two different ideas–that the federal government had no warrant or probable cause, and therefore no legal right to collect much of their evidence against him, and that sentencing from the lower court's judge was based on an enhanced by uncharged crimes, which has denied Ross his right to a jury trial. No matter the outcome of the petition, this case will have legal ramifications for all of cryptospace, especially regarding digital privacy. Lyn Ulbricht will also be speaking at the Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Blockchain Superconference in Dallas, Texas February 16-18. For more information on Ross' case, or to donate to his legal defense, visit www.freeross.org.

Sun Genomics — Sunny Jain, CEO, And Neal Gidvani, VP Of Business Development — Microbiome Health Company Creating Personalized Healthcare Products Jan 30, 2018
    Show notes

Anyone who has been down the health aisle at their local store has seen the vast array of home health aids, including products like pre- and probiotics. Because of the diversity that exists in people, none of these mass-produced products will work for everyone who uses it. This means that many people will not see any specific benefits from taking these products. Sun Genomics hopes to change that by leveraging all of the scientific research written about the intestinal biome and create probiotics tailored to an individual's gut profile or DNA sample. Simply send in a test kit from their website, and Sun Genomics will send you back a detailed report of your microbiata and a personalized probiotic that is tailored to you. Sun Genomics has already helped individuals lead happier, healthier lives, with many success stories. Individuals can have their guts re-tested in as little as 1 month, to see if it is working. Sun Genomics is also looking to move to a clinical laboratory soon so that they can add deeper layers of analysis to the reports that they send. For more information, visit www.sungenomics.com.

Loly — Adryenn Ashley, CEO and Founder — Naughty Augmented Reality Dating App Built On the Blockchain Jan 30, 2018
    Show notes

One of the major problems with dating apps currently is that many users don't get quality matches, which are most times based only on photos, or because of a profile that doesn't accurately show who the person is. Loly hopes to change that by using artificial intelligence to match users based on their compatibility, which is determined through a combination of uploaded photos, profile, and results of quizzes that users can take to receive tokens and boost their profile. Users are never rated individually, only as a potential partner. Loly also includes a sexual consent app that records consent both before and after the encounter. It will also passively listen for a user's safeword, in order to help them out of uncomfortable or frightening situations. All of this information is stored on the blockchain, and encrypted on a user's phone. This way, data is both safe and immutable for the purposes of determining matches through AI. Augmented reality is used at live events, with a "Heat Index" that shows you potential matches at the event. Loly is currently in beta and hopes to be available on February 14th, the same day that their fully compliant token sale begins. For more information, visit www.loly.io.

Amber Scott, CEO And Chief AML Ninja Of Outlier, And Joe Ciccolo, Founder Of Bitaml — Past, Present, And Future Of AML Compliance In Cryptospace Jan 29, 2018
    Show notes

AML, or Anti-Money Laundering, compliance is part of orchestrated efforts to make it more difficult for individuals who earn money through illegal methods to obscure the source of that money. This not to be missed special podcast with two AML professionals, Amber Scott of Outlier and Joe Ciccolo of BitAML, helps shine a light on an area of cryptospace that is both crucial and not well understood by many people. Amber and Joe discuss the history of AML and KYC (Know Your Customer) in cryptospace, with particular regards to Silk Road, an online marketplace where many of the items being sold were illegal in nature, and Bitcoin was used as the main payment rail. They also discuss the difference in the regulatory climate between the United States and Canada, the need for education and a basic understanding of the risks involved in cryptospace, how regulation is changing the ICO landscape, the impact that fear has on the space, and more. For more information on Outlier, visit www.outliercanada.com, or email them at info@outliercanada.com. For more information on BitAML, visit www.bitaml.com, or email Joe directly at joe@bitaml.com.

Coinpayments — Andrew Brough And Alex Alexandrov — Flexible And Fully Functional Digital Asset Payment Processing Platform Jan 29, 2018
    Show notes

Currently, most merchants don't accept payments in cryptocurrency, and those that do typically only accept one or two coins. CoinPayments allows merchants to easily accept payments in over 115 different cryptocurrencies. Through the platform, merchants are not only able to choose which coins they want to accept but can decide which coins they want to keep, and which coins they want to have automatically converted. CoinPayments offers both a hot wallet and cold storage, in order to encourage users to keep their money in crypto. For this reason, CoinPayments doesn't have any built-in way to convert crypto to fiat–however, if this is necessary, the CoinPayments wallet can be integrated with the CoinBase API to allow cryptocurrencies to be converted to fiat. The top 60 coins remain the same every month, while some of the lowest performings are changed out every month. New coins can be suggested and added through community votes, or coins can pay high fees to be allowed access to the network on a test basis. Andrew and Alex also discuss what they see as the future of digital payments through the next 1-5 years, including their thoughts on the creation of new coins. For more information, visit www.coinpayments.net.

Celsius Network — Alex Mashinsky, CEO — Peer-To-Peer Crypto Lending And Borrowing That Pays You Back Jan 26, 2018
    Show notes

One of the problems that exist in the cryptocurrency community is that there is very little sense of community amongst users–we haven't seen cryptocurrency holders come together to support one another, and in many ways holders have been taken advantage of. Celsius Network hopes to change that and bring some of the power of cryptocurrency back to its users, by creating a wallet that both pay interest on the cryptocurrency deposited, but also allows users to borrow dollars against crypto deposits. Users can earn interest when their crypto is used by hedge funds or large crypto funds in short sales–high fees are charged for coin access, which is given back to the community when the coins are returned, similar to how it is done with traditional stocks, bonds, and securities. A product demonstration was held last week in New York. In the long run, Celsius Network hopes that this will remove excess liquidity from the markets and help stabilize cryptocurrency, thereby drawing in more users and creating more value for everyone. Alex also discusses his thoughts on the future of innovations in this space and the importance of making decisions that are in the best interest of the community at large. Cryptosumer Mining — Daryl Snyder, CEO And Managing Partner — E-Commerce Platform For Cryptocurrency Mining Servers And Co-Location Services Jan 26, 2018
    Show notes

Having stumbled his way into the world of mining cryptocurrency, Daryl began his own company dedicated to helping others begin to mine crypto. There are three things that you need in order to be successful at crypto mining–capital, the proper software and equipment, and a physical location for your servers. Cryptosumer Mining helps by building and providing GPU and ASIC mining servers to customers. Equipment purchased through Cryptosumer Mining can either be shipped directly to the purchaser or hosted at their co-location site, in exchange for a percentage of the mining profits. Cryptosumer Mining is currently working on developing their own chips for the servers that use less electricity than traditional servers, costing users less to mine cryptocurrency. The mining ecosystem is rapidly growing, with demand for servers outpacing supply. Daryl also discusses changes that he has seen in the mining space over the last few years, and the future of mining. For more information, visit www.cryptosumermining.com.

Easymine — Lukasz Zeligowski, Co-Founder And CEO, And Przemyslaw Budziszewski, Content Developer — Comprehensive Software Management Platform For Managing Cryptocurrency Mining Jan 24, 2018
    Show notes

Though mining is an important part of the cryptocurrency ecosystem, there are very few miners and even fewer tools to help miners achieve their goals. What tools that currently exist require substantial knowledge of computers and mining, and none of them are designed to assist miners with several computers mining at the same time. EasyMINE hopes to change that by offering a comprehensive mining management platform that is as easy to use as installing a USB drive, starting the mining machine, and beginning to mine cryptocurrency. Their product is geared towards both experienced miners, who need to be able to tell at a glance how each of their machines is performing and make necessary changes, and mining newcomers, who need an easy and simple way to become active in the space. Overall, both experienced miners and newcomers will gain stability, ease of use, and peace of mind in their mining operations. The public beta opened at the beginning of January 2018, and the final version will be available for consumers before Summer 2018. Lukasz and Przemyslaw also discuss their views on the future of cryptocurrency mining. They will also be at the Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Blockchain Superconference in Dallas, Texas from February 16-18th. For more information, or to be active in the public beta, visit www.easymine.io.

Minthealth — Dr. Samir Damani, Co-Founder and CEO — Decentralized Healthcare Platform That Empowers Patients and Lowers Costs Jan 24, 2018
    Show notes

The healthcare costs for many patients with chronic issues, including diabetes, heart disease, and cancers are skyrocketing–and yet, many of these conditions are largely preventable. MintHealth hopes to improve patient health and lower costs with their healthcare platform, which will empower individuals to take charge in tracking their health, especially those with chronic conditions such as heart disease or diabetes. Users will record health data, including blood sugar levels and diet, and can integrate with data from fitness wearables like FitBit. Users will also be able to download data from doctor's visits, including medical imaging results, or share this data with medical providers as they choose. They will receive Vidamints in return for these actions, which they can redeem for lower premiums, use to pay for prescriptions or gym memberships, and more. This increases user awareness of their own health, and ultimately lowers the costs of healthcare for patients, doctors, and insurance companies alike. MintHealth can even send alerts to seek medical attention when dangerous readings are reported. Pilot studies have shown to reduce hospitalizations due to chronic conditions by 50%, making it a huge success, with even more updates and features to come. It may not come as a surprise that many companies use Microsoft Excel for their business's budgeting, planning, and reporting needs. However, the limitations of the Excel program mean that it may not always be the best tool for the job, especially once businesses reach a certain level of complexity. Furthermore, this particular industry is dominated by a handful of companies that have begun to replace Excel. Vena Solutions aims to change all of this with their software solutions. Based on Excel, but with added functionality of the cloud, the ability to audit changes and decisions that are made, as well as other features, businesses can leverage Excel as a window into their information databases–keeping all the parts of Excel that work for them, and providing solutions for Excel's natural limitations. 7 years of Research and Development went into making this product, and Don shares some of the more surprising insights that they have learned and used to improve their products. Don also discusses what he sees as the future of data aggregation and predictive analysis. For more information, visit www.venasolutions.com.
