The second in a series which at this point in time, might well be ongoing for the foreseeable - of course we hope for the best and that it is not extended but whatever does go on, you can be sure that it’s a great setup and works like a dream if this and the previous week are anything to go by… This is an awesome episode with the excellent Catherine who brings it in crazy amounts which all adds up to a lively and bubbly one for ya for episode 90! Covering many angles from the early days, to her time spent dealing with OCD and how heavy those days indeed got (but all with a happy conclusion which results in her achieving a kind of mastery over it all with CBT and medication), how she’s handling the current situation out there in the world co-habiting with her partner and all those adjustments those of us in similar situations make to ensure a happy time of it, and all the while giving YOU the beautiful listener a tremendous experience in the company of she and Brett. It truly is a difficult time for us all right now, and by ‘us all’ I mean the world as a whole. This doesn’t need to be said I know but it would feel weird to not talk about it at all. Podcasts are in a very interesting situation as a result, where at this point after isolation it almost feels weird that people used to sit and face each other talking. Doesn’t that seem strange? Anyway, this one was recorded before we were all put on lockdown or self isolating, and so it might be a satisfying and distracting vibe for you this week - a very welcome and friendly session with Brett and Nick as they go in on - well, room service for one - but for the most part, ‘Intelligence’ - the new series created by Nick and featuring Ross from Friends! Sorry, David Schwimmer. As well as that, there’s a lot of really fun and interesting chat happening, so please do set some time aside and enjoy yourself. A very timely episode, this one, probably one of the most timely of them all so far, short of doing and entirely live and in real time one… The first Films To Be Buried With to be recorded remotely, Brett is joined online by Kiri to get into this whole ever-fascinating cinema and life thing. And get into they very much do, while certainly not avoiding the subject at hand and the reason for the isolation… Do I need to mention it? I think you understand. It came out lovely though, and it’s a really interesting energy which you’ll certainly enjoy when compared to the regular face to face episodes. It’s really unique. So please do expect to hear about “that thing” (to invoke Lauryn Hill), tour cancellations, social media usage in times of quarantine, the Caroline Aherne bursary, dealing with parents / parental management, techniques for hiding tears, not being good with scary films, the joy of Christmas and why it remains within her, and her folks over in Wales. Oh but come on you KNOW that’s the tip of the iceberg. So yeah, nothing too outrageous but it’s probably not something to kick off the day with at the breakfast table, know what I’m saying?
