FOF #2947 - Lil Nas X Rides the Pole Down to Hell Apr 06, 2021
    Show notes

A great entertainer says what we’re all feeling, and since it’s been a hell of a year, Lil’ Nas X hung up his adorable pink cowboy hat and traded it for a skin tight bondage getup to ride a stripper pole to hell.
Lil Nas X’s new music video Montero has everything: he plays all the characters in a magical biblical world, Adam in the Garden of Eden, the seductive serpent, his own judge and judy condemning him to hell where he booty bounces for the devil, also played by himself, where spoiler alert! He snaps old Lucifer’s neck, steals his horns and becomes the new queen of hell.
With a Lil Nasty help from right wing outrage, the single has shot to #1 on the charts, and his collaboration with fashion line MSCHF to sell Satanic sneakers embedded with a single drop of human blood has raked in $666,000 and opened up a trademark infringement lawsuit from Nike!
Now Lil Nas is wrestling with the real devil: corporate lawyers!
Today we’re cutting loose like Lil Nas X did with the devil and looking at all the wild stuff rolling around regarding his new controversial video Montero and those wickedly evil shoes.

But despite it being an in depth look at the pop icon’s life, many amazing things were briefly touched on or left on the cutting room floor.
Today is Tina Turner day! We’re looking at the life and legacy of the Queen of Rock and Roll, from the incredible year she had back in 1984, to her rock and roll roots with Ike Turner. Show notes

When people who didn’t go to Catholic school think of nuns they immediately think of the classic Sound of Music, the silly Flying Nun or movies like Sister Act which all have misfits trying their best to fit into a world stacked up against them.
But in real life, there’s been nuns like Jeannine Deckers The Singing Nun with the hit song “Dominque” who struggled with drugs and debts later in life or the women in the book Lesbian Nuns Breaking Silence who wrestled with their sexuality and each other.
Today, ex-nun, genderqueer, nurse, author, nerd and comedian Kelli Dunham joins us to talk about her life as a nun: what drew her to become a bride of Christ and what happened when the marriage was annulled?
Kelli’s new comedy album “I Am Not the Gym Teacher” pokes fun at how people perceive her non-binary gender expression where she is often mistaken for the gym teacher.

The world has long been filled with secret hiding spots where what could not be expressed in public, could be enjoyed away from the prying eyes of others. Like minded folks could almost always meet for a grand encounter at almost any secluded park, rest stop or private stall.

    FOF #2944 - Linda Simpson’s Drag Explosion Mar 23, 2021
    Show notes

In the mid 80s, at the height of the AIDS crisis, New York City experienced a drag revolution. Cheap rent, fabulous clubs and a wide variety of people from all around the world living shoulder to shoulder, and girdle to girdle, created a drag explosion that released a mega ton of glitter and talent, leaving in its wake a culture that embraced drag like never before.
In the center of the action was drag queen Linda Simpson, who took pictures of all the kooky kids in the club scene with her portable camera. To Linda it was all casual fun but to the rest of the world now, it’s legendary.
Best known as a journalist for her indie magazine My Comrade, Linda Simpson gathered in-depth interviews with entertainers and nightclub personalities who would have otherwise been left forgotten in the dark corners of the club.
In her new book, The Drag Explosion, Linda Simpson reveals hundreds of full color photos of the New York Drag scene of the ‘80s and '90s including many legends when they were just stepping out in high heels onto the world.
Today, Linda Simpson gives us a look into her new book The Drag Explosion, her queer underground magazine My Comrade and why we still feel all these years later the shockwaves of the Drag Explosion.

The Drag Queens of Too Wong Foo Mar 22, 2021
    Show notes

It’s the 20 year anniversary of To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar, the unusual film that came out on the heels of the very successful Priscilla Queen of the Desert. To Wong Foo put three A-list actors in full drag but unlike Priscilla, we bareley saw the drag queens out of drag as human beings, which gave the whole film a very surreal feel.
On top of that, the beginning and end of the film featured pretty much every famous drag queen at the time, including RuPaul in a Confederate Flag dress as Miss Rachel Tension, the pageant queen who sends Patrick Swayze, John Leguizamo and yes, Wesley Snipes on a road trip across America in full drag.
Joining us today is one of the queens prominently featured in the opening scene, Miss Understood. She’s taking us on a road trip back in time, from her work at Lucky Cheng’s with Laverne Cox to booking some of the world’s top drag queens and all the Drag Race girls before they were on that show.
    Plus-
One thing you can do to get more bookings as a drag queen.
Yes Felicia, there is a Thai Gay naughty film parody of Jurassic World, with drag queens.
