Feast of Fun: Gay Talk Show

Interviews with amazing people, comedians and LGBTQ+ legends, with pop culture and politics wrapped up in a delicious candy coating of camp.

Hosted by Puerto Rican drag queen Fausto Fernós and his husband, Norwegian reality TV star Marc Felion, Feast of Fun began as one of the original 50 podcasts featured on iTunes in 2006, and celebrated by Apple: Feast of Fun “helped bring podcasting from an underground movement to a mainstream phenomenon.” Five time winner of the People’s Choice Podcast Award for Best LGBT podcast.

We’ve done thousands of shows with wonderfully wild people, LGBTQ legends and their friends, and tackle the tough questions like: is Sasquatch a drag queen? How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll pop?

Subscribe and join us as we chat with gay musicians, counterculture comedians, trans pirates, lesbian warriors and pagan witches and celebrate the ridiculous and transform pain into pleasure.

    Show notes

In 2009, we had the pleasure of interviewing Debbie Reynolds about her life in Hollywood, her one woman show and her deep bond with her daughter Carrie Fisher.
In 2011, we also had the pleasure of chatting with Carrie Fisher at her own one woman show, Wishful Drinking. We were inspired by her courage and humor in talking so candidly about her life.
Tragically, Carrie Fisher was traveling home to California to visit her mother when she had a heart attack and later died. Days later Debbie Reynolds also passed away.
Please enjoy this encore presentation of our interview with Debbie Reynolds. Our hearts and thoughts go to Debbie, Carrie, their family and to their millions of fans and friends all around the world.

As star of Singing In the Rain, one of the most loved Holllywood musicals of all time, Debbie Reynolds made a name for herself with her sparkling voice and uninhibited sense of humor. Dick Cavett called her “one of the first ladies of Hollywood.”
With over 30 films, two Broadway shows and several TV series under her belt, Debbie Reynolds still continues to captivate audiences with her one woman show.
Today we’re talking to Hollywood’s Golden Age diva — Debbie Reynolds on her conservative roots, her divorce from Eddie Fisher and being the mother of the Princess of Sci Fi- Carrie Fisher.
What was it like to rehearse the dance sequences with Gene Kelly? Is it true he made her feet bleed? What’s it like living next door to her daughter?
Debbie Reynolds on a date with Tab HunterListen as Debbie shares with us her stories of dating closeted gay men in Hollywood, being a mother to all her fans and she dishes on drag queens making it big in show business.

FOF #2943 - Steven Thrasher: The Viral Underclass Mar 16, 2021
    Show notes

During the early months of the Coronavirus Pandemic, folks were comparing it to the Spanish Flu of 1918, saying that at the end of the pandemic, it would be just like the Roaring 20s all over again- we’d roll our stockings down, rouge up our knees and all that jazz.
So why don’t we feel like dancing the Charleston just yet?
Today, Dr. Steven Thrasher, professor of journalism and LGBTQ Health at Northwestern University joins us to look at the Coronavirus pandemic and the changes we’ve experienced since he last visited with us a year ago.
Steven's new book, The Viral Underclass: How Racism, Ableism and Capitalism Plague Humans On The Margins, takes a look at the impact of the pandemic on marginalized people.

Methacular: A Musical About Meth Addiction Mar 13, 2021
    Show notes

The Emmy Award winning TV series Breaking Bad did a wonderful job of taking us into the seedy underbelly of America’s dysfunctional relationship with drugs, specifically crystal meth.
Although we got to see the dramatized world of Mexican Drug Cartels, sex workers, young addicts and drug kingpins, Breaking Bad never showed us the gay side of meth- how gay men use the drug to break down inhibition and connect with others sexually.
Steven Strafford’s new musical Methtacular! delivers the gay side of Breaking Bad we never got to see, by taking us on a hilarious but harrowing journey of his three years as a crystal meth addict in Chicago.
Today actor Steven Strafford joins us for a live music session playing songs from Methtacular! Listen as Steven talks about having the courage to take some of the worst moments of his life and turn it into art.

Auntie Mame in Real Life: The Fabulous Miss Lola Rose Mar 11, 2021
    Show notes

t’s a lot of fun to hang out with a strong sassy woman who doesn’t take crap from any one. Sassy divas can make the best friends, but don’t always make the best mothers.
Today we’re talking to video blogging sensation Miss Lola Rose. When her two kids came out as gay, she panicked and asked them to remain in the closet to keep up appearances.
Since then, Lola’s come about 180 degrees and fully supports her children and is a proud advocate for Equality. So much in fact, her most popular video “Mom on Her Two Gay Kids” was yanked off of Youtube at the beginning of Pride month when haters flagged it enough times to set off their automated system.
Only because of public outcry was the video brought back up, and it’s because of efforts of people like Lola Rose and her daughter Jill Abrams that the video sharing giant is aware of its shortcomings when dealing with LGBT voices and conservative backlash.
Join us today as we talk to one of my all time favorite video bloggers, the hilarious Miss Lola Rose about everything– why she loves President Bill Clinton so darn much.

No other Hollywood diva has captured the imagination of gay men quite like Joan Crawford.

Today, writer John Hamilton joins us to talk about his new book Mommie Smearest, which brings the Hollywood legend back from the grave to comment on selfies, the Kardashians and the superficial nature of celebrity.
