Feast of Fun: Gay Talk Show

Interviews with amazing people, comedians and LGBTQ+ legends, with pop culture and politics wrapped up in a delicious candy coating of camp.

Hosted by Puerto Rican drag queen Fausto Fernós and his husband, Norwegian reality TV star Marc Felion, Feast of Fun began as one of the original 50 podcasts featured on iTunes in 2006, and celebrated by Apple: Feast of Fun “helped bring podcasting from an underground movement to a mainstream phenomenon.” Five time winner of the People’s Choice Podcast Award for Best LGBT podcast.

We’ve done thousands of shows with wonderfully wild people, LGBTQ legends and their friends, and tackle the tough questions like: is Sasquatch a drag queen? How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll pop?

Subscribe and join us as we chat with gay musicians, counterculture comedians, trans pirates, lesbian warriors and pagan witches and celebrate the ridiculous and transform pain into pleasure.

The Rise of the Modern Drag Queen Jun 30, 2021
    Show notes

Even though folks have been crossdressing for entertainment since the dawn of time, the rise of the modern drag queen can be traced back to a some relatively recent events and a few key artists.
While American society in the 1960s was opening up to the many possibilities offered by the sexual revolution, a lot of drag artists took the art of female impersonation very seriously, and didn’t stray too far from a feminine ideal. It was folks on the fringe like Divine, Sylvester, the Cockettes, Holly Woodlawn and David Bowie who shaped drag into a multi-faceted art form we see today.
Today, queer educator, doctor of drag Lady J Martinez O’Neal Davenport joins us to take a look at the rise of the modern drag queen, from Holly Woodlawn and the Warhol Superstars to David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust persona to RuPaul who made her-story by being the first drag queen to get signed by a major record label.

The Rainbow Flag's New Design Jun 24, 2021
    Show notes

Gilbert Baker considered the flag an unfinished work of political art and encouraged others to design their own versions, like the Leather or Trans Pride Flags, so he never copyrighted the design. Unfortunately, some businesses and politicians have also used the flag as a selling point for their own agenda which doesn’t always align with queer liberation.
Designer and Cooking with Drag Queens title sequence animator, Daniel Quasar created a version he calls the Progress Pride Flag, a design that included elements from the Philadelphia People Of Color Inclusive Flag and the Trans Pride Flag in a chevron overlaid on top of the traditional Pride flag to draw attention to the needs of trans folks and people of color in our community.
Today designer Daniel Quasar joins us to talk about creating the Progress Pride Flag- how it went viral overnight and why it resonated with people all around the world.

FOF #2963 - Stewart Pearce: The Man Who Taught Lady Diana to Speak Jun 01, 2021
    Show notes

Princess Diana made international headlines in 1987 at the opening of the UK’s first HIV/AIDS unit at Middlesex Hospital when she shook hands with a patient who was dying from AIDS.
In an era of AIDS hysteria, this ordinary gesture marked the first time a royal or a prominent politician knowingly made public physical contact with anyone living with HIV. This simple act placed her in stark contrast to the aloof royal family and endeared her to gay men everywhere.
Over time Princess Diana evolved into a fierce advocate for many great causes including HIV & AIDS, as well as leading a campaign against landmines.
When Diana first entered the spotlight, she was shy and demure but after her divorce she became a strong and charismatic champion as “The People’s Princess.”
But how did she do it? How did she go from someone controlled by the monarchy to a powerful advocate for the people?
Today Princess Diana’s voice and presence coach, Stewart Pearce, joins us to look at how he helped Princess Diana tap into the power within to command an international stage.
In his new book “Diana: the Voice of Change,” Pearce dives deep into his work helping guide people like Princess Diana on how to speak and act in public.
