    Team Huddle Aug 09, 2015
    Show notes

To use a sport’s analogy, here at Eastmont Church, Jesus is the Team Owner, a few of us are the coaches He has appointed to lead, and all of us are the players He has brought together as His team . Now the Bible, which is the player’s manual that God wrote for us, defines “winning” as … lovingly help people everywhere become fully devoted followers of Jesus. Obviously, for this “win” to happen, it is important for each of us to see our Lord’s game plan by keeping current on ministry developments here at Eastmont. This Sunday is like a “team huddle.” As such, the prayer & hope of your Eastmont “coaching staff” (elders & pastors) is that we will all be well informed and truly inspired to be the church family Jesus is building us to be and to have the Gospel impact in our local & global communities that Jesus has equipped us to make. So, huddle up everyone. Go team!

Hearts that Hug (Part 2) Aug 02, 2015
    Show notes

Francis Chan wrote, God’s definition of what matters is pretty straightforward. God measures our lives by our love. According to God, we are here to love. Not much else really matters! Chan’s thoughts are certainly in harmony with what we learned in our first look at Philippians 2:1-5. Specifically, that Jesus has placed His heart of love & mercy within us. He bids us follow Him by using our hearts to reach out and “hug” everyone around us to Him! And as we saw, Christ is always whispering to His followers

... Bring My love ... to this person ... in this moment.

Now those who are listening to Jesus say this, will also have a question for Him ... Lord, how do we do this? That’s what we want to discover right now as we listen and put to use the teaching of God’s Word.

Hearts That Hug (Part One) Jul 27, 2015

The Apostle Paul was an amazingly loving sort of guy. He wasn’t always that way. His early life, as a deeply religious but misguided man, had been spent ruthlessly running over people in the pursuit of his own selfish ambitions. Paul ruined and destroyed the lives of countless men, women and children for what he was sure was right, what he thought he was supposed to do, and how he thought others should live. Then Christ got hold of Paul’s life and all that changed. He went from being a self-focused “I want my way” bully to one of the most kindhearted loving men to ever follow Jesus. In fact, he once wrote: “No matter what I say, what I believe, or what I do, I’m bankrupt without love” (I Corinthians 13:3, MSG). Here in Philippians 2:1-4, Paul teaches us how to be amazingly loving … how to develop hearts that hug everyone in our church, our homes, and in our community. Believers with a heart like this are the ones that God will fill with His joy and then use to change the world with His Gospel.

Here's a Big Part of What we Believe Jul 12, 2015
    Show notes

As followers of Jesus, there are certain core beliefs, which we hold to be so trustworthy that one could literally stake their current life and eternal destiny on their truthfulness. In fact, that’s what we’re actually doing here at Eastmont Church! So to start with, you should know that these teachings come straight from the Bible. And while there’s a lot more we could share with you about what the Bible says, we want to offer you this short version so you can know where we are coming from and also to invite you to enter into further dialog with us. After all, these topics really do deal with the most important issues of life. Read on and then, if you’re willing, let’s talk more …

The Gospel Worthy Life - Philippians 1 Jul 05, 2015
    Show notes

The Apostle Paul tells us to live life in a manner worthy of the Gospel of Christ.

    Okay then, two immediate questions:

    First, what is the Gospel?

Sadly, believers in today’s culture struggle giving a clear, concise and correct Biblical answer to this most foundational question of Christianity.

Second, what does it look like to live a life that is worthy of the Gospel?

Now while these two questions are heavy duty, fortunately, the answers are simple, straightforward and spiritually transforming. The more we understand what the Gospel is and then live (by the grace of God) a life that is worthy of it, the more we’ll personally experience the joy of our salvation and the better we’ll be at lovingly helping people everywhere become fully devoted followers of Jesus.
