Show notes
In this episode of the Donut Shop Podcast, I sat down with Jody Rahn, founder of Oil Can Functional Fitness, to talk about transformation — physical, emotional, and spiritual.
Jody shares how fitness became more than exercise. It became a pathway to healing, confidence, and mental clarity. What started as a personal journey evolved into a calling — helping others, especially senior citizens, build strength, mobility, and independence so they can maintain their daily function and quality of life.
We also have a deeply honest conversation about the suspicious circumstances surrounding her brother’s suicide, and how grief shaped her commitment to mental wellness and helping others find resilience through movement.
🎙️ In this episode, we discuss:
-
Using fitness as a gateway to mental health
-
The power of strength training for seniors
-
Functional fitness vs. aesthetic fitness
-
Healing through purpose
-
Grief, unanswered questions, and moving forward
-
Why it’s never too late to start over
This episode is about strength in every sense of the word.
