What is the great unretirement? Feb 08, 2026
    Show notes

The great un-retirement is a term that has been coined to explain the fact that people are working longer or even coming out of retirement completely to return to work. Find out why this is happening in this episode.

In a poll by Rest Less, a digital community that supports the over-50s, 32% of members said they would consider returning to work or that they were already working again. And statistics back this up. The Office for National Statistics reports that there are now more people aged 50 and older in work or looking for work than before the pandemic, while figures from the Centre for Ageing Better show that the number of people aged 65 or over entering the workforce rose by 173,000 in the first quarter of 2022.

Why are so many people coming out of retirement? What problems do older people face when looking for a job? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions!

Could mate poaching be a threat to your relationship? Feb 08, 2026
    Show notes

All romantic relationships come with challenges, and one of the biggest hurdles tends to be fidelity. Over the years, there have been a number of studies on the prevalence of cheating, but it’s tricky to know how reliable data from those studies is.

After all, it relies on people owning up to unfaithful behaviour. Generally speaking though, surveys from the likes of YouGov have suggested that around one in five people in the UK have had an affair at some point in their life.

Why don’t these mate poachers just look for someone who’s actually available? Is there any way to spot a “mate poacher”? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions!

How can the unisex condom improve my sex life? Feb 07, 2026
    Show notes

It was widely expected that the condom industry would thrive throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, but to many people’s surprise, it actually struggled. Malaysian world number one Karex actually lost 50% of its stock value.

And talking of Malaysia, the country has seen a remarkable development in the field of gynecology, with Dr John Tang Ing Chinh creating creating the first ever unisex condom, known as Wondaleaf.

What does it look like and how much does it cost? Why do we need a unisex condom then? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions!

Do opposites really attract? Feb 07, 2026
    Show notes

“Birds of a feather flock together”, the old saying goes. But does that apply when it comes to romantic relationships? After all, we also say that opposites tend to attract, an idea which has been sold to us through Disney fairytales, romcoms and countless love songs over the years.

But in 2023, a group of British and American scientists decided to put this notion to the test, by delving into a vast pool of existing data on the traits of couples. They published their findings in Nature Human Behaviour in August 2023.

What exactly were they looking into then? So which saying bears true then? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions!

Does the law of attraction really work? Feb 06, 2026
    Show notes

Over on TikTok, the #idontchaseiattract hashtag is nearing in on 20,000 publications at the time of recording. It really took off in late 2023, especially after Kendall Jenner said the following in an interview with Enews.

Behind the simple statement are young women advocating that with enough belief, you can manifest whatever you want in life. You might have also heard of "Lucky girl syndrome" and "manifesting," which have also gone viral on Tiktok in the past, and are based on similar principles. And these trendy ideas are essentially a modern spin on an age-old principle: the law of attraction, which gained popularity in the early 2000s within the realm of personal development.

How exactly did the "law of attraction" come about then? Is there any scientific basis to these ideas? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions!

How do you talk to conspiracy theorists? Feb 06, 2026
    Show notes

From claims that AIDS was engineered to shrink the global population, to the insistence that the Earth must be flat because otherwise the oceans would spill over, to the idea that Michael Jackson is secretly alive, conspiracy theories are everywhere.

A study by Arcom, the French media regulator, found that 60% of people in France believe at least one of them. We might be tempted to ignore these stories or laugh them off, but their impact on democracy and social cohesion is real. The challenge is that these arguments can sound surprisingly convincing, and they spread incredibly fast online.

So what do you do when someone starts sharing these ideas? And what if that still doesn’t work? What if you just don’t have the energy to respond? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions!

Blue hands: what can you do about the cold? Feb 06, 2026
    Show notes

When it comes to cold weather we're not all in the same boat. Some of us can cope with low temperatures, while others are super sensitive, especially on their hands and feet. For some people extremities can become numb, painful, change colour or even develop into frostbite.

Usually, when it's cold, vasoconstriction helps to protect us against low temperatures, by prioritising blood flow to vital organs at the expense of the extremities. However, this can be exacerbated in certain cases, and as a result the small vessels that are supposed to irrigate the body's extremities no longer supply enough blood to the hands, feet and sometimes the nose and ears leaving them extremely cold.

What causes these microcirculation problems? And what can you do? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions!

What are the three types of female orgasm? Feb 05, 2026
    Show notes

While it remains a complex phenomenon, the female orgasm is becoming a focus of more and more medical studies. Back in 2016, French sociomedical researcher Odile Fillod created the first ever 3D model of a clitoris, changing the way we think about female pleasure. And since then, we've learned a fair amount more about the different possible types of orgasm that a woman can have.

We often talk about clitoral and vaginal orgasms! Is that really an accurate distinction? So are we saying there's only one type of orgasm then? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions!

Does refusing cookies really protect our data? Feb 05, 2026
    Show notes

Let's face it, we’re so accustomed to seeing those little pop-up windows when landing on a website that we barely pay any attention to them anymore. Cookies have become ubiquitous, and whether it’s out of convenience or sheer habit, we tend to accept them without much thought. But those innocuous-seeming cookies actually harbour a wealth of information about us.

The UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office defines a cookie as "a small file of letters and numbers that is downloaded on to your computer when you visit a website.” It also says that “Cookies are used by many websites and can do a number of things, e.g. remembering your preferences, recording what you have put in your shopping basket, and counting the number of people looking at a website.”

What exactly are they for then? What happens if we opt to refuse cookies? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions!
