    Dennis & Julie

Dennis Prager and Julie Hartman explore all aspects of life, in particular the crisis of American education. Julie was a student senior at Harvard who sensed that most of her life she was exposed to one perspective. She found Dennis Prager’s book “Still the Best Hope,” and she realized she actually held many conservative beliefs. She reached out to Dennis and that was the beginning of a new partnership that culminates in their weekly podcast.

Secularism is the norm… are you religious? Honoring Judeo-Christian values is disappearing. The repercussions of cut flower ethics are apparent. What has happened to the uniforms of religion? People are wearing crosses or the star of David… but is it religious or as a good luck talisman? Does wearing a cross provide protection? Does practicing religion protect you from calamity? Should experiencing tragedy in life cause you to lose faith? Dennis explains why reason is his vehicle to religion. Free will is a blessing… but it also has a downside. Everyone should strengthen their theology BEFORE tragedy happens. Dennis and Julie explore God watching versus God willing. Did God create evil? Dennis says, “it doesn’t matter if God knows what I will do… what matters is that God knows what I do and did.” For Dennis… sanity relies upon there being a hereafter that rewards good and punishes evil. "God does not want us to understand, because if we ever understood, we would be forced to accept that bad things happen to good people, and God does not want us to accept those bad things. He wants us not to understand, so that we will fight against the bad and the injustices of this world, and that is why there is no answer to that question. God has arranged that we shall never have an answer to it." – Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks

Dennis shares his thoughts on finding a girlfriend when he was growing up …men thought they had to earn a woman. Women are the gatekeepers of relationships… if they demand more respect from men, men will be more respectful. Men want to earn admiration and women want to admire the men they love. You must fight your nature. Julie provides a parallel between using social media and dating… compromising your nature to please the opposite sex. The more intelligent one is… the more easily brainwashed they can be. What is the importance of women taking a man’s last name. Every Leftist is a child… they want to live in a fantasy world and avoid the uncomfortable. If you want to know male nature …go to the gay community. Knowing the truth is good… not to be avoided. Leftists believe it is acceptable to lie for the greater good. Are men or women better at writing? Why are the top chefs overwhelmingly men? What are women better at than men?

Dennis & Julie: We Are Not a Democracy Jul 03, 2023
    Show notes

Do you know how many Jews there are there in the world? Dennis recalls his first trip to Kentucky. State populations versus representation… Dennis and Julie share adoration for the founding fathers… did divine intervention play a role? Julie was overwhelmed by pride propaganda everywhere in NYC and wonders how we went from gratitude to contempt in this country after seeing the Statue of Liberty. The only systemic racism in this country is coming from the Left. A speaker at the Beyond Growth conference states that white supremacy, colonialism, and imperialism underlie everything. Where is all this wokeness headed? Who is it worse for… those that saw America at its greatest and saw it fall … or for those who never saw it as great? Saying “yes, dear…” is placating your wife. Leftist men aren’t masculine. What does the Leftist love… love requires respect and gratitude, and there is none of that on the Left. People who walk around thinking they are victims will inevitability be mean and unhappy. Kids don’t listen to parents regarding potential mates. Do you like your in-laws?

Dennis & Julie: Spiritual Disneyland Jun 26, 2023
    Show notes

Dennis and Julie ask… is doing the podcast work …or fun? or both? Dennis has a test to see if you’re really a transwoman. CA bill aimed at protecting LGBTQ+ youth compelling parents to affirm their child's gender identity or face consequences. Julie predicts that there will be there will be a reckoning for all of this gender confusion. What is best for an individual versus what is best for society? We should be doing things that benefit society for future generations …we have lost gratitude for past generations. One solution may be acknowledgement of goodness when you witness it. Dennis recalls the Hebrew phrase mitzvah goreret mitzvah, averah goreret averah, "one good deed will bring another good deed, one transgression will bring another transgression." Julie shares some quotes from Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte that make the case for religion, and the fundamental differences between Leftism and conservatism. In the United States we are amusing ourselves to death… we are now consumers of amusement, not producers of amusement. We are lost in escapism and pacifying ourselves. Dennis reiterates that clothing matters… you can’t show up to a date looking like a peasant. What is a Kulak?

Dennis & Julie: The United States of A-MERIT-A Jun 19, 2023
    Show notes

Dennis and Julie explore what the incentive to work hard in America is? People are afraid to share opinions for fear of being cancelled or publicly humiliated. Dennis shares part of his upcoming Rational Bible: Numbers …choosing people based on merit. A society does not move forward without rewarding merit. Can you define the Left… what does the Left stand for… no… what do they stand against? Topics include: the divinity of the Torah; civilization versus anti-civilization; takeaways from Dennis’ trip; hope, change, and fundamental transformation; modern art; forms of theft… one’s time and one’s thought; in person is inherently better than video; does being authentic come naturally ..or do you have to work at it… publicly or in real life; The amount of technology/major events one can live through in the span of their life; conspiracy theories; the JFK assassination; Who Prospers: How Cultural Values Shape Economic And Political Success by Lawrence E Harrison.

Dennis & Julie: Something Versus Nothing Jun 12, 2023
    Show notes

Dennis and Julie delve into the richness that travelling can bring to one’s life. The extremeness of the Left in the United States surpasses the Left around the world. It is easy to tear things down, and much harder to build something up. Secularism is hopeless. Where have all the young men gone… porn, video games, and drugs! Having gratitude and kindred spirits in your life is crucial. Ironically, the American dream is more alive outside the United States than it is at home. Can you develop a love for life if you weren't born with it? Americans are the least tethered to their national identity than any country in the world. The jadedness in United States is contrived.

Dennis & Julie: The Tangent Hour Jun 05, 2023
    Show notes

Dennis and Julie are all over the place. Topics include: the differences between parenting and grandparenting… it can be a second opportunity… perhaps they are not happy with way their children turned out; parents who are fulfilled with each other…don’t make their children the center of their universe; it is a burden for children if their parents try to live through them; you will succeed in life if you have good character; the Left in the U.S. are the Übermensch; “From all this we may learn that there are two races of men in this world, but only these two — the “race” of the decent man and the “race” of the indecent man. Both are found everywhere; they penetrate into all groups of society. No group consists entirely of decent or indecent people.” ― Victor Frankel; 'In the tragic vision, individual sufferings and social evils are inherent in the innate deficiencies of all human beings, whether these deficiencies are in knowledge, wisdom, morality, or courage. Moreover, the available resources are always inadequate to fulfill all the desires of all the people. Thus there are no "solutions" in the tragic vision, but only trade-offs that still leave many unfulfilled and much unhappiness in the world.' — Thomas Sowell; Without hysteria there is no Left; is corruption increasing, or has it always been like this?

Dennis & Julie: No One Is Without Religion May 29, 2023
    Show notes

Dennis and Julie do not share the same love for absurdity. One of the best things you can do to glorify God is to enjoy the life you have. Thank you, God, for music, art, beauty, and pain. Angry or unhappy religious people are the best proof for atheism, and the opposite is true… angry or unhappy atheists are the best proof for religion. Dennis reflects on his visit to the NRB in Orlando FL. How does one account for unethical religious people? You can’t turn your eyes away from evil… people are not basically good. Is what’s happening to the Uighurs in China a modern version of Auschwitz? Julie recounts meeting Clarence Thomas. God wants us to be good… but to the secular Left, that is boring. Dennis learned in yeshiva… “those who add, will come to subtract.” The Right hates evil… the Left hates the Right.

Dennis & Julie: Strive For Truth May 22, 2023
    Show notes

Dennis and Julie explore intentions, beliefs, and thoughts versus actions. The Leftist never asks is it true… they ask is it offensive. We should all be striving for truth uber alles. Does doing things because they are the right thing to do put you on a higher plane than the person who does them out of fear of being punished? Dennis shares why Genesis 26:15 is one of his favorite bible stories – “For all the wells which his father's servants had digged in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines had stopped them, and filled them with earth.’ Would you rather lose in a fair world… or win by cheating?

Dennis & Julie: Blood and Water May 15, 2023

Dennis and Julie introduce Mr. Tubbz (new English Bulldog) to the Prager family, and it spurs an in-depth discussion about moving on too quickly after a loss. How soon is too soon for moving on after the death of a pet or a spouse… remarriage after a divorce? Does replacement help with the grieving process? They explore the intricacies of relationships between parents and children, topics include: step-parents, titles, bonds, adoption, biological, surrogate; shared values matter most. Divorce isn’t the issue… it’s how the parents treat the situation after the fact that matter. Kids can handle divorce… they can’t handle the fighting, or the poisoning of the other parent’s character. Are children of divorce more mature? Other topics include: being mind-centered versus emotional; like versus love; a listener email about elephants; Dennis recalls riding an Indian elephant.
