Dennis is the Godparent to a gay couple’s child… the conversation turns from gay marriage to the evolution from tolerance to endorse to celebrate. The Spanish soccer kiss scandal… it’s a sick time were living in. Whatever happened to shrugging it off? Julie’s theory on Republican clowns …people taking on the characteristics of a stereotypical version portrayed by the opposition. Where do you draw the line between being respectfully quiet and sharing your objections? Dennis says you shape your conscience more than your conscience shapes what you do. A virtue taken to it’s extreme… becomes the opposite of that virtue – Machiavelli. Institutions need to be preserved or they will crumble… there is nothing beautiful that humans cannot destroy.

Does a future with A.I. scare you? Stalin, Mao, the evils of communism …we have it so good… people can’t even be bothered to hear about atrocities. We are unable to deal with tragedies and have discomfort when confronting sad realities… i.e., interacting with people with disabilities. Dennis laments the horrors of the Russian civil war… ignorance is no excuse… if you do not hate communism, you do not understand the evil of it. Other topics include: race hoaxes; Prager U in schools; Ideologies are luxuries; Carol Swain’s new book The Adversity of Diversity; non-existent microaggressions; good and evil is everything.

Sparked by an interview Dennis had with Carrie Gress author of The End of Woman: How Smashing the Patriarchy Has Destroyed Us… Dennis and Julie have a rich exchange about sinful thoughts versus sinful behavior. If bad thoughts without bad action matter… do good thoughts without good actions matter? One of the greatest aspects of freedom is freedom of thought. We are like pressure cookers… it’s better to let the pressure out in your thoughts than in your actions. They explore different types of sinful thoughts – envy, lust, wishing ill of others. In the male primitive brain… the more of a female’s skin she shows …means the more she wants sex. The better you act… the better you will think. If all pornography disappeared …men would still lust. People with good values have a responsibility to talk about tough issues.

Dennis & Julie: Obtuse Americans Aug 07, 2023

People who suffer… ask “why me?..” Dennis asks, “why me,” when it comes to his blessings. The Taliban are outlawing women’s beauty salons in Afghanistan. It is important to have gratitude for things that are overlooked. Is there any gratitude on the Left? As Americans, we are ignorant to the way the rest of the world lives. Dennis recalls his visit as a delegate to the World Youth Assembly. Americans who are upset about racism, sexism, and homophobia do not hold other countries, where these issues exist, to any account. Dennis recalls learning who Hitler was in 7th grade. If we weaken civilization, we will fall… the Left is weakening American society. When it comes to truths about the Holocaust… it’s only been 78 years …and we have lost the lessons that should never be forgotten. Americans don’t know key parts of history… like what does Nazi stand for? What has happened to education in America? Julie has takeaways from Eric Larson’s “In the Garden of Beasts: Love, Terror, and an American Family in Hitler's Berlin.” Julie asks Dennis what troubled him 30 years ago… the cold war and moral relativism. If you don’t work on being good, you’ll be bad… bad is the default. We should celebrate the differences between men and women… it’s a beautiful thing! Good people have bad thoughts… it’s behavior that matters.

Mutually assured destruction is inevitable… political persecution is rampant… until this is recognized by both sides the infighting will not end. Will the United States of America survive? Would a national divorce work?
