Deep Thoughts: Science and Social Justice is an interview podcast where we take a deep dive into the struggles, triumphs and personal stories of minorities in the sciences, arts and public service. The goal of these interviews is to have candid, first person conversations about the role of race, gender, and socioeconomic status in politics, the sciences and beyond. As you listen to these undocumented experiences, I hope we demonstrate the value of diversity and recognize the inequities that exist in the daily lives of minorities in this country. On this episode, weโll be talking to Cecille Ahrens.
Cecille Ahrens is a psychotherapist, with over 20 years of experience working with people on a range of issues including but not limited to: depression, trauma, PTSD, anxiety, self-esteem, relationship/intimacy issues, grief/loss, divorce/separation, family issues, addictions, domestic violence/relationship abuse and workplace issues.
She is a Certified Employee Assistance Professional and Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She is the clinical director of Transcend Therapy based in San Diego and is passionate about fighting for mental health education and destigmatization.
