Fashion Editor Shares About How Sobriety Can Be Fabulously Stylish // Kate Vitela May 10, 2022
    Show notes

In this episode, I have the pleasure of interviewing my beautiful friend, Kate Vitela. Kate is a mental health professional, a sober badass, and a fashion editor for The Sober Curator. Her column, Walk Your Talk, is entertaining, inspiring, and absolutely fabulous.
More about Kate: Kate has been an RN in the Pacific Northwest for over 20 years. After getting sober she shifted her nursing career towards mental health and dug in hard into the recovery space. Kate gets creative every morning curating a look from her “cloffice” that says capable, confident, and stylish AF. She converted an extra bedroom in her home into an oversized closet because she wanted a space for all things fabulous. This includes an impressive perfume collection, boxes of jewelry and accessories, shoes, hats, and clothing sectioned off by occasion. After getting sober Kate examined the real reasons she was drawn to the nightlife. She realized it was to see and be seen. She wants other women and men to cultivate a sense of style or maintain a love for fashion while rocking the look in sober spaces. Her mission was to prove to herself that sobriety could be so much more stylish than drunk.

Attempting Moderation After Sobering Up // Just Jess Apr 26, 2022
    Show notes

This is one of those episodes where it’s just me, you, and the mic. Hope that’s alright with you? It is? Great! While these ones are much shorter, I try really hard to provide useful information and/or use this as an opportunity to share parts of my personal sober journey. The topic I touch on today was requested by a listener. The listener wanted to hear more about moderation. Since I'm not your science-y gal, I refer to my good friend Gill and her Sober Powered podcast in this episode. Go check hers out if you're looking for a more in depth description of what's going on in your brain when it comes to moderation. She has an incredible show, is very knowledgeable, and the episode I'd recommend on moderation is Episode 20. Here is a link: https://www.soberpowered.com/episodes/e20 .
In my episode, you'll hear more about how moderation did NOT work for me, what I've learned, and questions that might be worth exploring if you feel like you're still stuck in the vicious drinking-not-drinking cycle. Enjoy Episode 15!
