Episode 13: Todd & Suzie Ford of NoDa Brewing Company Dec 19, 2017
    Show notes

Cheers, Charlotte! We're bringing you Episode 13 of the Date Night with Jake and Page podcast, where you'll hear from NoDa Brewing Company Founders and Owners, Todd and Suzie Ford! [FAN BOY ALERT!!!] As Page mentions in the podcast, when we debated moving to Charlotte back in 2014, the "Pros" list was: family, NoDa, jobs, Hop Drop, etc., etc. You get the point. We've been fans of the brewery for years, so it was only fitting that we bring on the couple behind what has become one of Charlotte's and the industry's leading craft beer brands. Todd and Suzie talk about how both of their companies were acquired around the same time, which coincided with a growing buzz around Todd's home brewing and tasting parties. They decided to make the proverbial leap to launch NoDa, and the rest is history. Now, they say, it's about keeping up the demand and all of the latest and greatest trends in the industry, while also standing up against state legislation which is currently limiting the growth of N.C. brewers. We can't thank Todd and Suzie enough for joining us on this episode, and as always, big thanks to Garrett Tichy, Hygge and Richard Brooke for having us as a member of their inaugural Hygge Podcast Residency! Please subscribe, share and comment on this episode. Past shows can be found on jakeandpage.com, iTunes and wherever you get your podcasts. We live stream each episode on Facebook (Page Crawford Fox 46) and videos are posted to youtube.com/jakefehling. Please keep the conversation going on social media using the hashtag #datenightclt. Episode 12: Charlotte Hornets In-Game Hosts Jacinda & Derrick "Fly Ty" Jacobs Nov 08, 2017
    Show notes

Heads up, Buzz City, we've got Episode 12 of the Date Night with Jake and Page podcast coming at you! In this show you'll hear from Charlotte Hornets in-game hosts Jacinda and Derrick "Fly Ty" Jacobs! Wellllllp, we've met our match. Good grief, Jacinda and Fly Ty can HUSTLE. The Hornets gig is just one part of their looooong list of jobs, appearances, hosting opps, emcee gigs, etc., etc. Hearing how they balance everything should be required listening for any couple with two working spouses. Add in three sons from Ty's previous marriage and a book launch for Jacinda, and, well, yeah. Insanity. We caught them just before the launch of Jacinda's book, "Uniquely Qualified", on Nov. 9 (pick up a copy on Amazon!), so the timing was great. Jacinda touched on various pieces from her book, ranging from her troubled background to how she's now able to use her platform on TV, the radio and through events to help spread her message of living life to the fullest. Ty was right there by her side, hyping her book like a pro. They truly are #relationshipgoals. We can't thank Fly Ty and Jacinda enough for joining us on this episode, and as always, big thanks to Garrett Tichy, Hygge and Richard Brooke for having us as a member of their inaugural Hygge Podcast Residency! Please subscribe, share and comment on this episode. Past shows can be found on jakeandpage.com, iTunes and wherever you get your podcasts. Episode 11: The Punch Room's Bob Peters & Jena Burgin-Peters, Owner of JBP Entertainment Oct 24, 2017
    Show notes

Pull up a seat at the bar for Episode 11 of the Date Night with Jake and Page podcast, where each month we double-date over mics and drinks with a prominent Queen City couple. In this episode you'll hear from Bob Peters, Creative Director of the Bar Program for The Punch Room in the Ritz-Carlton in Charlotte, and his wife, Jena Burgin-Peters, Owner of JBP Entertainment! (Oh, and their daughter too!) Bob got Jake to drink bourbon. We can probably just start and end this podcast description there. Yeah, he's THAT good. In all seriousness, if you live in or around the QC - or really the world at this point - and you like a good cocktail, you have either been to The Punch Room, heard of The Punch Room, or The Punch Room is on your Charlotte Bucket List. Bob is a genius behind the bar, and he's built a global following around his concoctions. While you may already know about Bob, you SHOULD know about Jena as well. You've got to hear some of the stories she tells in this episode. Jena has a storied career in showbiz, and she's continued it through to today as the owner and operator of JBP Entertainment, a performing arts studio and entertainment production office in uptown Charlotte. Bob and Jena are a unique, eclectic, dynamic duo to say the least, and between The Punch Room and JBP, they're helping to fuel a thriving arts and entertainment scene in the Queen City. This episode is definitely not one to miss! We can't thank Bob and Jena enough for joining us on this episode, and as always, big thanks to Garrett Tichy, Hygge and Richard Brooke for having us as a member of their inaugural Hygge Podcast Residency! Episode 10: Mayor of Charlotte Jennifer Roberts & Manley Roberts Sep 29, 2017
    Show notes

Welcome to Episode 10 of the Date Night with Jake and Page podcast, where each month we double-date over mics and drinks with a prominent Queen City couple. In this episode you'll hear from Mayor of Charlotte Jennifer Roberts and her husband Manley! Any time you can talk about Charlotte's past, present and future with a sitting mayor while sharing local craft beer with her and her husband, you jump at the opportunity. We got to do just that with Manley and Mayor Roberts (which we probably should have called her; all night we went with Jennifer...whoops!), who shared her political career path over our hour together. Within the first minute you'll hear just how amazing Jennifer and Manley are, and you'll also hear how much they love to dance. Seriously, we met them on a dance floor. They SHUT DOWN Cam Newton's charity gala, and then immediately kicked off this podcast talking about how they danced in college...and later when they dated...and on and on. Good grief, we loved them. While we try not to talk too much shop on our show - the point is to get to know the guests off the court/outside of work - Mayor Roberts was gracious enough to open up about her roller coaster two years in office, as well as her recent surprise defeat in the Democratic mayoral primary. It was truly a fascinating look into the personal lives of a couple currently going through ups, downs, surprises and turmoil, all in one. You know, like the rest of us. We can't thank Jennifer and Manley enough for joining us on this episode, and as always, big thanks to Garrett Tichy, Hygge and Richard Brooke for having us as a member of their inaugural Hygge Podcast Residency! Please subscribe, share and comment on this episode. Past shows can be found on jakeandpage.com, iTunes and wherever you get your podcasts. Episode 9: Alyssa & Andrew Wilen, Chef Alyssa's Kitchen Aug 29, 2017
    Show notes

It's Episode 9 of the Date Night with Jake & Page podcast, where each month we double-date over mics and drinks with a prominent Queen City couple. In this episode you'll hear from Chef Alyssa and Andrew Wilen! If you live in Charlotte there's a 98% chance you've been to Chef Alyssa's Kitchen in South End. First dates, corporate retreats, you name it, the Kitchen is an awesome spot, and it's run by one of Charlotte's favorite couples. Andrew (@andrewwilen) and Alyssa (@alyssacooks, @chefalyssaclt) talk about how they met, how they hatched the idea for their business, and they offered up a little teaser for listeners on what they're up to next. Listen to find out more! We can't thank Alyssa and Andrew for joining us on this episode, and as always, big thanks to Garrett Tichy, Hygge and Richard Brooke for having us as a member of their inaugural Hygge Podcast Residency! Episode 8: Carolina Panthers RB Jonathan Stewart & Natalie Hills Jul 21, 2017
    Show notes

Annnnnd we're back with another episode of the Date Night with Jake & Page podcast, where each month we double-date over mics and drinks with a prominent Queen City couple. In this episode you'll hear from Jonathan Stewart and Natalie Hills! There's a decent chance you've heard of Jonathan Stewart (@jonathanstewar1). Dude is a beast. Star running back for the Carolina Panthers. Renaissance Man. He's into music, art, touchdowns, the Queen City, and...being a dad. His fiance Natalie, we agreed, is pretty much his perfect match. Also known as "Kaia's Plug" (their baby Kaia is four months old and pretty much the cutest thing EVER), Natalie is into A LOT (@nataliehills, @octoqc, @natandstew, whew), with food, faith, family, and friends taking top billing. She, too, is a Renaissance Woman of sorts. If you're looking for Panthers gossip, look elsewhere. This was a solid hour of a killer couple getting in there and giving you a peak of their personal life. Ever want to know what it's like to have a 4-month-old with one spouse heading off to training camp? You've come to the right place. We can't thank "Nat and Stew" for joining us on this episode, and as always, big thanks to Garrett Tichy, Hygge and Richard Brooke for having us as a member of their inaugural Hygge Podcast Residency! Please subscribe, share and comment on this episode. Past shows can be found on jakeandpage.com, iTunes and wherever you get your podcasts. We live stream each episode on Facebook (Page Crawford Fox 46) and videos are posted to youtube.com/jakefehling (unfortunately the quality of this week's episode wasn't great due to internet issues, so you won't find it on YouTube, sorry!). Episode 7: Matt and Sarah Olin, CreativeMornings Charlotte and Luscious Mother Jul 06, 2017
    Show notes

This is Episode 7 of the Date Night with Jake & Page podcast, where each month we double-date over mics and drinks with a prominent Queen City couple. In this episode you hear from Matt and Sarah Olin! Matt (@mattolincreative) is everywhere in Charlotte these days, but he's probably best known for his work as the host/organizer of CreativeMornings Charlotte and the Queen City Quiz Show. His wife, Sarah (@lusciousmother), meanwhile, is essentially the most interesting woman in the world as a former/current actor, bartender, life/business/mom coach and yogi. Together, the duo is dynamic as it gets. I wish I could say that we kept recording after the episode wrapped, because we stayed in the studio for another hour laughing and telling stories. Charlotteans, if you haven't made it to a CreativeMornings, DO IT. Moms, if you need a motivator in your life, look up Luscious Mother. Neither will disappoint. We can't thank Matt and Sarah for joining us on this episode, and as always, big thanks to Garrett Tichy, Hygge and Richard Brooke for having us as a member of their inaugural Hygge Podcast Residency! Episode 6: Scott and Shannon Wooten, 704 Shop Jun 09, 2017
    Show notes

Welcome to Episode 6 of the Date Night with Jake & Page podcast! Each month we bring you a new episode where we double-date over mics and drinks with a prominent Queen City couple. In this episode you hear from Scott and Shannon Wooten of 704 Shop! Scott is one of the co-founders of 704 Shop, and you've been living under a rock if you're a Charlotte resident and aren't familiar with their products, Their iconic "704" ambigram logo is everywhere these days, and their limited-run merchandise around the Panthers' 2015-16 Super Bowl run really put them on the map. As for Shannon, aside from being Page's hair-crush (which is apparently a thing), she can be found opening up on her Instagram page (@infertilitysucksyoudont) - and on this episode - about the couple's struggle with infertility. We recorded this episode several weeks ago, and while we tried to pry it out of them then, Scott and Shannon managed to keep the news of the coming-soon, real-life, brick-and-mortar 704 Shop in South End under wraps. Fortunately for us, the official news dropped in Charlotte Agenda just before we pushed this episode live! Click here to read more: charlotteagenda.com/93230/704-shop-opening-permanent-location-south-end/. We can't thank Scott and Shannon enough for opening up to us on this episode. Between the raw, personal stories around their relationship and the start-up, entrepreneurial advice Scott shares from his 704 Shop experience, this is one podcast Queen City residents don't want to miss. Once again, big thanks to Garrett Tichy, Hygge and Richard Brooke for having us as a member of their inaugural Hygge Podcast Residency! Please subscribe, share and comment on this episode. Past shows can be found on jakeandpage.com, iTunes and wherever you get your podcasts. We live stream each episode on Facebook (Page Crawford Fox 46) and the videos are posted to youtube.com/jakefehling. Episode 5: Penn and Kim Holderness, The Holderness Family May 10, 2017
    Show notes

Welcome to Episode 5 of the Date Night with Jake & Page podcast! Each month we bring you a new episode where we double-date over mics and drinks with a prominent Queen City couple. In this episode you hear from Penn and Kim Holderness of The Holderness Family! Penn and Kim - 1/2 of Team Holderni, along with Lola and Penn Charles - have built a passionate and growing following on YouTube and Facebook through their viral videos and parodies. Former on-air journalists, they left their careers to start a video production company, only to have a video Christmas card go viral, and the rest is history. We've known Penn and Kim for more than a decade, so there is plenty of goofing off (and freestyle rapping!), but we pressed them on the challenges they face as parents raising children in the spotlight and dealing all of the online haters and trolls. Yes, trolls. Welcome to Episode 4 of the Date Night with Jake & Page podcast! Each month we bring you a new episode where we double-date over mics and drinks with a prominent Queen City couple. In this episode you hear from Jonathan and Melissa Luther of JJ's Red Hots. Jonathan is co-founder of the insanely popular hot dog chain in Charlotte, and he and his wife Melissa discuss on the podcast their ups and downs with the business over the years (she serves as the company's CFO) and how their culinary careers ultimately helped prepare them for their recent growth and success. Jon and JJ's were prominently featured on an episode of 'Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives' with Guy Fieri earlier this year, and the husband-wife team chatted about that unique experience as well. Once again, big thanks to Garrett Tichy, Hygge and Richard Brooke for having us as a member of their inaugural Hygge Podcast Residency! Please subscribe, share and comment on this episode.
