Join us as we review the 2023 Malayalam comedy-horror hit Romancham. Heavy on the comedy and light on the horror, this film is an absolute joy. From its gorgeous cinematography to its roaring soundtrack, Romancham reminds us how much fun you can have, even when you’re being haunted by a malevolent spirit summoned through a ouija board. But what elevates this film are the amazing performances of its ensemble cast whose personalities, friendship and interactions feel so authentic and true to life. Throw in Arjun Ashokan’s truly terrifying smile, and some literal toilet humour, and you’ve got pure Malayalam dynamite.
We continue our Mammootty odyssey with the terrific psychological thriller Munnariyippu (2014). Mammootty’s muted yet masterful performance as Raghavan, a gentle and thoughtful prisoner, will have you spellbound from the first scene to the shocking finale. Aparna Gopinath holds her own beside Mammootty, portraying an ambitious journalist drawn to Raghavan’s intellect and eager to make a name for herself in an uncompromising industry. We discuss how the film builds up tension towards a flawlessly executed ending, the deeper themes explored, and how it expertly subverts our expectations. It’s getting all too common now - but this is another Mammootty classic!
Amit and Kathy from CinemondoPodcast got the chance to watch the much anticipated Bramayugam! Here is our spoiler review where we break down how much we loved this sensational horror movie! #malayalammovie #mollywood #mammootty

D54 returns to Malayalam cinema with the hugely entertaining ‘Mukunthan Unni Associates’ (2022). Putting the ‘black’ in black comedy, Vineet Srinivasan delivers a masterful performance as an ambitious and deeply sociopathic lawyer who decides that success is his only option. We discuss the film’s depiction of the legal professional, the wonderfully paced story, the terrific supporting cast, and how debut director Abhinav Nayak keeps the audience transfixed despite the increasingly heinous actions of our anatagonist. Mukunthan Unni Associates paints a relentlessly bleak view of the world. You’ll laugh, you’ll be infuriated and you’ll sit waiting for justice to arrive. It may not, but injustice has never been so enjoyable.
