Steve’s situation is very unique at the school he’s at, and he’s utilized some really awesome methods to help build his relationship with the athletes and keep them coming back, even after they graduate. We finish off discussing the stigma of being “the high school guy” and where both of us see the misconceptions tied to that.

Recently I had the opportunity to sit down with Sean Smith to discuss his voyage’s impact on the the coaching development program at Louisville. The mentorship program at Louisville is all encompassing for the young coaches, bringing them to the field, the coaches offices, and to meet with sports med, sports psych, and senior administration so these young coaches truly understand what the day in and day outs of being a performance coach are. He shares with us the thoughts behind these meeting and how they prepare the mentees for them so that they can best communicate to those different groups. We finish off discussing his work with volleyball at U of L, and how that has evolved in his tenure with The Cards.
