Girl, 10, Snatched from Ohio Bay Shopping Strip, Family Gets Bizarre Calls Aug 30, 2022
    Show notes

Amy Mihaljevic was just 10 years old when she went missing. She told friends at school the day she disappeared that she was going with someone to buy her mom a surprise gift.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing Amy speaking with a white male, at a local ice cream shop and then leaving with him through a parking lot. Later police discover that Mihaljevic and other girls in the area had been contacted by telephone by the abductor. The estimated 30-something-year-old man arranged to meet Mihaljevic after school.

Just over three months later, Amy's body was found by a jogger in a farm field in a nearby town. Investigators say it appears the little girl's body was most likely dumped shortly after her abduction. Mihaljevic dies from a combination of stab wounds to the neck and a blow to her head.

Some of the things that were known to be with or on Mihaljevic that day have never been found: the boots Amy was wearing, a denim backpack, a binder with "Buick, Best in Class" written on it, and turquoise earrings in the shape of horse heads.

Missing Teen Girl's Body dug up at Serial Killer's 'House Of Horrors' ID'ed as Theresa Fillingim Aug 29, 2022
    Show notes

Theresa Fillingim was almost 17 years old when she disappeared. She was living with her sister in Florida, trying to find a job.

Fillingim leaves for an interview and is never seen again. Now, the remains of the Florida teen found 41 years ago, buried on the property of a serial killer, have been positively identified. Three other bodies were also found.

Police said the teen’s remains were found on property owned by Billy Mansfield Jr., responsible for murdering at least five women in California and Florida. In 1982, Mansfield Jr. was sentenced to life in a California prison, where he remains today.

With the help of the University of North Texas and the Virginia-based DNA company, Parabon Nano Labs, officials were able to positively identify Fillinghim through a DNA match with her sister.

SPECIAL WEEKEND CRIME STORIES UPDATE: Motive Revealed in Vanessa Guillen's murder? Aug 27, 2022
    Show notes

Soldier Vanessa Guillen was brutally murdered at a Texas military base by fellow soldier Spc. Aaron Robinson. A document from the Texas Department of Public Safety reveals that Robinson killed Guilllen was because she saw a photo of a woman on Robinson's phone. That photo was of Cecily Aguilar, the wife of another soldier, with whom Robinson was having an affair. According to Aguilar, who is also charged in Guillen's death, Robinson was worried about getting in trouble for violating the Army's fraternization rules.

A $35 million dollar lawsuit against the Army has been filed in Guillen's death by her family. The lawsuit is seeking damages for wrongful death but that's not all. The family is suing on the basis of sexual harassment, abuse, assault, rape, sodomy as well. A military investigation found that 20-year-old Guillen was also sexually harassed and that leaders failed to take appropriate action. The lawsuit describes two instances in which Guillén was harassed. Guillen told family that she did not report the harrassment for fear of retaliation.
