    Create Your Fate

Most of us are living on autopilot — thinking the same thoughts, getting the same results, and wondering why nothing changes. Create Your Fate exists to interrupt that pattern.

Hosted by award-winning Certified Conscious Life Coach, NLP Practitioner, and Somatic Healing Practitioner, Meg Ellis, this is the weekly mindset and life coaching podcast for people who are ready to get out of their own way and feel like themselves again. Meg’s body • brain • behavior approach goes deeper than mindset alone to create transformation that actually sticks.
Each week you’ll get honest, no-fluff solo episodes and expert conversations covering:

    * Brain — neuroscience-backed tools to rewire negative thought patterns, break self-limiting beliefs, and reprogram your inner voice
    * Body — somatic healing, nervous system tools, and practices that release what your body has been holding onto
    * Behavior — Enneagram insights, Law of Attraction, and conscious creation practices you can apply immediately
    *
Topics include: self-doubt, people-pleasing, limiting beliefs, confidence, manifestation, relationships, the Enneagram, boundary-setting, identity, and designing a life that feels authentically yours.

Meg the founder Create Your Fate Coaching and Create your Fate Retreats, and the creator of The Meg Ellis Method, a somatic workout experience that creates change from the inside out. EP89: Food & Diet Industries Are Scamming You | Alanna Dybus Mar 14, 2023
    Show notes

Alanna is back to wrap up the Body Image Trilogy on Create Your Fate with me, Meg Ellis. We chat about BMI (Body Mass Index) and question how we've been fed an 'ideal body type' by the patriarchy. We also joke about what we were fed as kids growing up in the 90s (enough with the ham loaf!), and we look at the outdated food pyramid to see how our idea of healthy food has changed over the years.

We are also here to say that it's okay to get filler or botox or have plastic surgery – who is anyone else to judge? We just want to have the conversation and remind all of you women out there that it's worth questioning some of the norms that have been perpetuated by mainstream media, as well as the things that are normalized nowadays on social media.

Emotional maturity starts with realizing that nothing outside of yourself is going to solve your problems. The people we should be looking up to are those that have learned to love themselves and take care of themselves. We can all work towards doing that more, and it's so worth taking those small, brave steps. I hope you have as much fun listening in on my and Alanna's conversation; I know we had a great laugh, and so I hope you learn a thing or two too!

Please check out Part One and then Part Two of this trilogy on body image. I promise that you’ll get a lot out of those episodes too!

"If someone tried to tell me that croissants are healthy, I'm not gonna fight 'em." ~ Meg Ellis

    In This Episode:

    – How BMI was created to find the average size of men in the 1800s

    – Climbing the Food Pyramid - and tearing it down

    – The 'joys' of growing up eating bad food

    – The side effects of 'quick and easy' diet pills - do your research!

    – Why do we ‘crash diet’ and get plastic surgery?

    – Having emotional maturity when it comes to making a big decision about your body

    – Understanding the law of attraction

    – Checking in with yourself regularly: how does this make me feel?

    – Learning to love yourself every step of the way

    EP88: Should I Get Plastic Surgery? | Alanna Dybus Mar 07, 2023
    Show notes

My bestie, Alanna Dybus, is back for Part Two of a Trilogy around Body Image. I’m super grateful for her friendship, as well as her bravery, as she opens up about her decision to have plastic surgery.

Where do we draw the line between getting plastic surgery and being happy with who we are? How do we reserve judgment around body image issues and remember to consider the other person’s well-being before putting our foot in it?

From advice on asking a woman if she is pregnant, to unpacking the mental health aspect of plastic surgery, Alanna and I go all in on the topic of body image, hopefully, so that we can help destigmatize the topic and make things easier for everyone else out there to have these important conversations with grace and clarity. You are not alone!

Please check out Part One and then Part 3 of this trilogy on body image. I promise that you’ll get a lot out of these episodes!

You don’t ask somebody if they’re pregnant!” ~ Alanna Dybus

EP87: Ditch The Scale: Try Self-Love Instead | Alanna Dybus Mar 01, 2023
    Show notes

I’ve got my good friend Alanna Dybus in the house, coming in HOT from DC. And today we’re talking about body image… time traveling back to the nineties and reflecting on how the only models in magazines were skinny when we were growing up. What would Kim K have done back then?!?

If you’re keen to understand body dysmorphia in a relatable way, then please join Alanna and I as we share personal experiences about body image, weight loss, and weight gain. And, through conversation, learn to love and accept ourselves for just who we are that little bit more.

The challenging societal stigma around body shape and image starts with these kinds of conversations. So please listen in all you beautiful women of all shapes and sizes. This one’s for you!

“I think I directly associate my happiness and satisfaction with myself with my weight — and yeah, that’s how I feel.” ~ Alanna Dybus

    In This Episode:

    – Understanding body dysmorphia

    – Being happy with how you look, rather than just hitting a number

    – Back in the 90s when all models were super skinny

    – Where is the ‘average’ model modeling clothes?!?

    – One day big butts will be back in style!

    – Should your trainer be in good shape to coach you?

EP86: Bad At Dating? Try This! | Bruce and Rodney Feb 21, 2023
    Show notes

What dating advice could two gay men have for a straight girl? It turns out, quite a lot. I’m having a blast in the studio today with my two dear friends, Bruce and Rodney. Please check out the previous episode to hear about all their fantastic RV adventures if you haven’t done so already. Otherwise, please join me for a casual chat about dating advice in the ’20s.

How do I put myself out there as a woman? Why won’t men talk to me when I’m out? These are some of the questions Bruce and Rodney answer with their deft, sensitive touch — providing a unique take on the issues we women face as we seek to play the dating game. A lot of this has to do with their previous work experience and acquired ‘salon psychology’ — when you are intimate with someone because you cut their hair, it’s more likely that the other person will open up to you, sharing personal details of their life.

I’m sure there are a lot of women out there that wish they could have Bruce and Rodney as their wingmen for a night out on the town. Well, now’s your chance. The advice that they’re dishing out is pure gold, and I’m sure that any woman listening will be emboldened to go out and put themselves out there in new and exciting ways to create your fate in the romance department. Please join us!

“Gay men don’t travel in groups. When they’re looking to meet people, they are not in a group.” ~ Rodney

    In This Episode:

    – Do you bow your eyes when men approach you?

    – What are the cues that women give that man then take as a sign that you’re unavailable?

    – Transferring gay dating techniques to the straight-girl world

    – What drink should you order from the bartender to let him know someone is bothering you?

    – Do not let first dates know where you live!

    – If you don’t have a spark, there’s not going to be any fire

    – Is it true that men are shorter in Manhattan?

    – Evaluating the Dating Apps

    – How do you put yourself out there as a woman wanting to date?

    – Be interested, not interesting

    – Being your best self – and then dressing the part

    – What is the line between being prepared and desperate?

    – How to prepare yourself for rejection

    – Attracting the right people when you are confident in yourself

EP85: How To Live With No Regrets | Bruce and Rodney Feb 14, 2023
    Show notes

What does it mean to be a professional rainbow chaser? To give up the city life and live on the road in an RV, getting stranded in the Mojave Desert and seeing rainbows for days on end in Wyoming?

This is the life that two dear friends of mine, Bruce Franklin and Rodney Cubberly, have chosen for themselves. They have been traveling across the country after giving up their corporate life of 30+ years. Now they are two gay men visiting straight RV parks in an RV once named Uncle Joe that has been rechristened as Josephine.

While this may sound like a camp scene from 'The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert', this is in fact an intentional pursuit of their dreams – a living example of creating your fate at its very finest. As Bruce and Rodney share so eloquently, their journey has renewed their faith in humanity, just at a time when more Americans are embracing the nomadic life.

As it turns out, you come across all walks of life while driving along life's highway, searching for that next rainbow. Please join me in this fun conversation with two fabulously adventurous men and learn what it takes to embrace RV living and a life less ordinary.

    .

"You can definitely pulse the chapter changes in your life. And how things all culminate to support it. And if you don't take that juncture in the road, you may have regret in the future." ~ Bruce Franklin

    – Unpacking RV Living for Gay Men

    – The joys of owning a robot dog
