His goal is to move the discussions past just "government bad, freedom good" and start to look at the larger battle taking place. In this chat, we discuss the way we view religion and spirituality in the Western world vs. how it was viewed in the East for thousands of years. The Western mindset often informs our thinking, but is it the way the Church Fathers looked at things? What is the difference? Was the Covid Cult of the last few years rooted in spirituality? My guest this week is Father Zecharia Lynch, an Orthodox Christian Priest and a very good writer at the Inkless Pen blog, as well as outlets like Death to the World and Patristic Faith. We are discussing many of the themes in his article, "Sinister Psychosis and the Remembrance of God". 2020 and 2021 gave us a lot of evil, and our love of comfort and safety was used to impart much of the evil. Why is this happening to us now? Where are we in spiritual warfare, and how do the tactics of the Evil One work in our modern times? Fr Zecharia studies the writings of the Elites and views them through the lens of the Saints. His perspective on these matters is beautiful and refreshing, and I know you'll love this episode. And for many decades, the impact on US policy that Israel has is very out of proportion. Why is this? There are a segment of people in the US who believe Israel is a Holy Land. There are some Christians who believe the current State of Israel is the same as the Israel of the Bible. Jim and I discuss this, and he gives us the correct Orthodox Christian view on Israel.
