    Show notes

Episode 368 | Dr. Michael Horton and Adriel Sanchez answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. I'm struggling to fit in at my church. I love the people and enjoy the worship, but I wish that I could be of better service to others. For the past few years I have struggled on and off with depression. My church has been great, but I feel like sometimes I can be a burden and wished that I could be a blessing. Do you have any advice or encouragement?

    2. Can we lose our salvation? How do you deal with those who point to 2 Peter 2:21; Colossians 1:23; Romans 11; Hebrews 6; or Hebrews 10:26-29? Thanks.

    3. Is there any historical evidence to Jesus actually existing?

    4. How should I understand Psalm 37:23-24? Is this promise only for the righteous? If so, how righteous do I need to be?

Will I Be Removed From the Kingdom of God If I Continue in Fornication? Jan 28, 2020
    Show notes

Episode 367 | Dr. Michael Horton and Adriel Sanchez answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. How should we understand Jesus's healing miracles? If Jesus came just to die for our sins, then why does he spend so much time healing?

    2. When it talks about the unpardonable sin, and it says that God will get to the point where repentance will no longer work for you. What about those who like myself who do struggle with fornication? Being a Christian for the last 10 years and still struggling with that, how does that work? What about people who go to celebrate recovery? How does that work when it says that those who continue, there is no repentance for you?

    3. How do I stop committing the same sins over and over again?

    4. Can we ask for whatever we want as long as we ask in the name of Jesus?

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. Could you tell me how I can truly know if I have repented of my sins?

    2. Thank you very much for being ambassadors for Christ and helping me understand the Bible more. My question is about corporal punishment. I am currently reading a book on leading your family in faith as father and a chapter came up about corporal punishment. I am not exactly sure where I stand and want to make sure my views line up with Scripture. I know proverbs 23:13-14 instructs us to us it as a form of discipline but I know society has a very negative view on it. Some Christians say that that passage is out of date with today's practices and culture. Can I get some clarification on this? Thank you for the work you are doing!

    3. Why was God so harsh on the Israelites when they built a golden calf?

    4. Is my anxiety a sin issue?

Does God Reveal Himself in Other Religions? Jan 24, 2020
    Show notes

Episode 365 | Dr. Michael Horton and Adriel Sanchez answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. Does God reveal himself in other religions or should we only expect God to reveal himself to Christians?2. I recently ran into the infamous verse of Isaiah 45:7 where people often claim is where it says God purposefully created evil (as the King James Version uses the word "evil" where other translations, notably the ESV, use the word calamity). There's no real context I can see on this statement in surrounding text. What am I supposed to make of this verse?

    2. Thank you Dr. Horton and Pastor Sanchez for your work to answer core questions about the faith. I'm also thankful for your response to more difficult or sensitive questions of praying. In the Magnificat, Mary praises God and says, "...all generations will call me blessed." How are we to think about this?

    3. Why don't we see many miracles in the church today?

    4. Is introspection a good thing for Christians to practice?

    5. Psalm 8 says that man are, "made a little lower than the angels". How does that fit with man's sinfulness?

    6. What does it mean in John 17 when Jesus says that eternal life is to know him and the Father?

I recently ran into the infamous verse of Isaiah 45:7 where people often claim is where it says God purposefully created evil (as the King James Version uses the word "evil" where other translations, notably the ESV, use the word calamity). 3. Why does Paul so often begin his letters with "grace and peace"? What does that mean?

    4. How should we respond when scandals happen within the church?

    5. I've heard that the term "Christian" was originally given to believers with a negative connotation attached to it. If this is true, would it be better if we identified ourselves as "followers of Jesus" instead?

    2. I have been in a relationship for several years. Something always told me that we aren't perfect for each other. We had a son. We are trying to get right with God. He is not a Christian, but he is traditional in our culture? How would that work?

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. "Christ our righteousness," I read this in the Bible many times. What does "Christ our righteousness" mean and how does it apply to us?

    2. Many years ago a preacher said the devil cannot hear your thoughts only God can hear your thoughts. So, for most all of those years I pray silently so the devil can't hear my worries and concerns. Does the Bible say anything about the privacy of prayer with God?

    3. What does it mean when you say that, "Jesus was raised for our justification"?

    4. Is God the author of sin and evil?

    5. Will I still be married to my wife when we're in heaven?

Will My Lust Keep Me Out of the Kingdom of God? Jan 17, 2020
    Show notes

Episode 360 | Dr. Michael Horton and Adriel Sanchez answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. I am really struggling with lust and feel that I might be one of the people that the Bible says will not inherit the kingdom of God. I have tried to remain celibate and bury my feelings and hope they go away, but they haven't.

    2. In the first chapter of Job beginning in verse 6, I have a minor and major question. Minor being "sons of God" is this referring to the fallen angels? More so I have heard it said that Satan or the Satan is referring to the adversary. In my opinion, depending on who it is changes the whole reason for Job's trials and tribulations.

    3. How should we understand, "Abraham's Bosom"?

    4. What does Paul mean about head coverings in 1 Corinthians? Does this still apply today?

    5. What does it mean when Paul talks about speaking in tongues building up the individual, but someone who prophesies build up the church?

We Had Faith, So Why Didn't God Heal My Brother? Jan 16, 2020
    Show notes

Episode 359 | Dr. Michael Horton and Adriel Sanchez answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. I have a brother in law who is a preacher and he heads up a ministry of healing. He is really into healing words and Scripture. He has gone through a major operation for his heart and he is a little depressed and wonders why he wasn't healed. I know that the Bible teaches that not everyone is healed. But they say that if you really, truly believe then your prayers will be answered. I'm wondering about it too. I would appreciate any insight.

    2. I recently had a conversation with a coworker about how she's a Christian who believes in purgatory. My understanding of purgatory is that it's a Catholic belief and not biblical at all. Her argument is that God will provide a resting place before we go to Heaven. I got a little confused, especially remembering the Scripture in Luke where it says we will die one death and then there's judgement. Would you be able to clarify this for me?

    3. What does it mean when Paul speaks about us being, "raised up with Christ"?

    4. Is it possible to be angry but no be in sin?

    5. Should Christians observe Jewish holidays and festivals like Hanukkah and Passover?
