She is the host of the comedy podcast Parenting Is A Joke, co-produced by iHeart Radio and Pretty Good Friends Productions. She can be seen live, regularly headlining across the United States, Canada, and Europe delivering her unique blend of standup and storytelling.     Rob Derhak and Chuck Garvey of Moe! Feb 10, 2023

You’ll hear the guys talk about the band overcoming life-and-death adversity through Chuck surviving a coma and regaining his speech and leg function, and Rob recovering from throat cancer. Rob and Chuck tell the guys about the recording of their album Wormwood, the importance of a mindful recovering process, and about their mystic encounters with Col. Bruce Hampton.


    Rob Derhak is the bass guitar player and a founding member of the jam band Moe, and Chuck Garvey is one of two guitarists for the band. Moe. is an American jam rock band, formed at the University at Buffalo in 1989. Moe established themselves as a favorite of the 1990s jam band and improvisational rock scene, and they’ve played at venues of all sizes all throughout the country. Moe is also known for their charitable works, donating money raised from benefit shows to charities aiming to help with causes ranging from natural disaster relief to autism.

    Alphonso Johnson is a world-renowned jazz bassist who has been active since the early 1970s. As Weather Report's bassist, Johnson's warm tone and fluent chops contributed to the band's initial breakout from avant-garde into funk fusion. He is an incredibly influential musician, and has performed and recorded with numerous high-profile rock and jazz acts including Santana, Phil Collins, members of the Grateful Dead, Steve Kimock, and Chet Baker.

    Phil Hanley began standup comedy by performing at open mics around Vancouver, often in between bands at music venues. In these establishments he discovered and honed his unique blending of material and crowd interaction that makes no two of his performances the same. Phil’s style can best be described as unpredictably reflective, delivered with sharp accuracy, and rooted in the grand tradition of joke-telling. He has appeared on numerous talk shows including The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Late Night with Seth Meyers, as well as at many comedy festivals. Phil performs regularly at The Comedy Cellar in New York City.

    Norwood Fisher is the bassist for Fishbone, a centerpiece LA rock band for over 40 years. They have been described as “one of the most distinctive and eclectic alternative rock bands of the late 80’s,” and were influential on many other impactful LA bands of the time including the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Thelonious Monster, and Psi Com. After many lineup changes over the years, Norwood is one of only two remaining members from the original lineup.

You’ll also hear James talk about the way he adjusts his in-ear monitors to balance hearing the band and the crowd during shows, developing new levels of familiarity with his body through his experience with cancer, and his gratitude for the Trey Anastasio Band going above and beyond to accommodate him on the last tour.


    James Casey is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, composer, and producer based in New York City. He is widely known as the saxophone player and vocalist for Trey Anastasio Band. James has recorded with Phish, toured with Meghan Trainor, performed on the Tonight Show with the Jonas Brothers, and shared the stage with Dave Matthews Band, Bob Weir, Bill Kreutzmann and Billy Strings, among many others. James made his solo recording debut with the release of a special Christmas EP – A Little Something For Everyone – on December 5 to support the fight against colon cancer. Proceeds from the album will support the Colorectal Cancer Alliance and will help provide free colon cancer screenings for the uninsured.

You’ll hear the guys discuss everything from why the Grateful Dead were the ultimate American patriots, to details about Ben Franklin borrowing ideologies from the Iroquois Nation to create the basis of our society. Steve also talks about how America can get back to its positive fundamental values, similarities between Grateful Dead songs and American history, and his cannabis company Grizzly Peak.Steve Parish has been at the center of the Grateful Dead family for over 50 years. He first joined the band as a roadie in 1969, but it wasn’t long before he became Jerry Garcia’s trusted gear handler, and the manager of the Jerry Garcia Band. Over the years, Parish and Garcia forged an unbreakable bond. Parish was the last friend to see Jerry before his untimely death in 1995, but has continued to maintain his relationships with the rest of the Grateful Dead family.
