Going from Power Rangers and Aladdin to Soft Voice with Naomi Scott - Collider Ladies Night Apr 06, 2021
    Show notes

Talk about a meteoric rise in the Hollywood! Naomi Scott’s star power went through the roof when she was cast in the 2017 Power Rangers movie and since, she’s starred alongside Kristen Stewart in the Charlie’s Angels remake and became a Disney princess courtesy of the live-action Aladdin. That’s already a lot to discuss right there, but there is so much more to Scott’s experience in the industry thus far and it all contributes to continuing to prove her promise in the business and her passion for her craft while also highlighting that she’s just a downright lovely individual to have an hourlong chat with!

Scott joined us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night in honor of the release of her brand new podcast/audio series Soft Voice. Scott leads as Lydia, an all-star estate agent who seems to have it all - a thriving career, a barrister boyfriend and then some. Lydia attributes much of her success to the voice in her head, Soft Voice, played by Bel Powley. One day, Soft Voice vanishes and is replaced by Dark Voice (Olivia Cooke) who’s absolutely had it with the rigid, straight and narrow lifestyle Soft Voice created.

Check out this edition of Ladies Night to hear all about how Scott was first discovered by Kéllé Bryan, what it was like for Scott when Terra Nova was cancelled, joining the Power Rangers film franchise, becoming Jasmine in 2019's Aladdin, getting cut out of The Martian and so much more!

Eiza González on Her Hollywood Journey Including Godzilla vs. Kong, Alita: Battle Angel and Beyond - Collider Ladies Night Mar 31, 2021
    Show notes

You’ll hear me say this in the video interview above, but it’s well worth further emphasizing here - Eiza González is always a delightful interview. I’ve had the opportunity to cross paths with González a number of times over the years, from covering the launch of From Dusk till Dawn: The Series at SXSW to the recent virtual junket for her new Netflix film, I Care a Lot; she’s always a pleasure to talk to while also exuding a deep passion for the projects she’s working on and the opportunities she has. Needless to say, that made her a top priority to have as a guest on Collider Ladies Night, and now thanks to the March 31st release of Godzilla vs. Kong, it’s happening!

Even if you’ve been following González’s biggest releases like Baby Driver, Alita: Battle Angel, Hobbs & Shaw and more, trust me when I tell you González’s journey in Hollywood thus far is loaded with unforgettable experiences and collaborations that have contributed to González’s boost in confidence, her drive to produce and the seemingly endless string of opportunities at her fingertips.

Victoria Justice Revisits Nickelodeon’s 'Victorious' and Making the Leap to Mature Content Like 'Trust' - Collider Ladies Night Mar 12, 2021
    Show notes

With Victoria Justice’s new movie Trust now available to watch in select theaters and on PVOD, she took the time to join us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night to revisit some of the most pivotal moments of her career and break down how they paved the way to her latest project.

Justice stars opposite Matthew Daddario in Trust as Brooke and Owen, a married couple who appear to be living the dream. She’s an art gallery owner, he’s a popular news reporter and they’re thrilled to be building a life together. But then doubt starts to creep in in the form of new temptations. For Brooke, it’s Ansgar (Lucien Laviscount) the new artist she signed, a suave painter with a thing for married women, and for Owen it’s Amy (Katherine McNamara), an aspiring journalist and a big fan of his.

For anyone who’s followed Justice’s work, you’re probably sensing that Trust is mighty different from the content that jumpstarted her career. After being a key part of Zoey 101, Justice went on to lead her own Nickelodeon show, Victorious. As one would expect, at a certain age, Justice set her sights on more mature roles to push her craft further. Hear all about her experience making that pivot on this edition of Collider Ladies Night!

Lily Rabe on Getting Spooky for American Horror Story and Sweaty for Tell Me Your Secrets Feb 21, 2021
    Show notes

Lily Rabe’s star power skyrocketed when American Horror Story turned into an epic phenomenon on launch back in 2011. She continues to excel in that series, but has also been quite busy adding more titles to her resume with the most recent additions being HBO’s The Undoing and the Amazon’s latest, Tell Me Your Secrets.

Rabe headlines the show playing Karen Miller, a woman who’s arrested with her boyfriend Kit (Xavier Samuel) for the role she played in the murders he committed. At the start of the series, she’s out of jail and part of the Witness Protection Program, assuming the name Emma Hall. While trying to lay low and steer clear of trouble, Emma is also challenged to figure out what really happened to one of Kit’s victims, an incident she claims she can’t remember.

Whether you’ve seen all of AHS, The Undoing and Tell Me Your Secrets or just a single credit on Rabe’s resume, I’m willing to bet you already know she’s often a standout in whatever show she’s in. But if you’re only familiar with Rabe’s work in TV, it’s time to get a better understanding of what she’s really accomplished over the years on this episode of Collider Ladies Night, because Rabe’s achievements are especially robust and her aspirations will be mighty exciting to track as her star continues to grow.

Check out this edition of Ladies Night to hear all about Rabe's experience getting her SAG card on Mona Lisa Smile, her choice to focus on theater after graduating college, how she joined the American Horror Story ensemble, why she chose to give up her role in The Hunger Games film franchise, why she absolutely had to do Tell Me Your Secrets and so much more!

Judas and the Black Messiah's Dominique Fishback on Her Path to the Awards Contender Feb 12, 2021
    Show notes

Mark my words; Dominique Fishback is going to be a household name very, very soon. (And if I had any say in Oscar nominations, it’d be happening one month from now.) Fishback stars in Shaka King’s Judas and the Black Messiah as Deborah Johnson (now Akua Njeri), a young woman who’s taken by Fred Hampton’s (Daniel Kaluuya) ideology and goals, and also sparks a connection to Chairman Fred on a personal level. While Judas and the Black Messiah well highlights the scope of Chairman Fred’s influence and the great value of his dedication to the movement, it’s through the intimacy of his relationship with Deborah that the film also successfully conveys the personal stakes involved in this fight for freedom.

Ever since chatting with Fishback and a few other members of The Hate U Give ensemble back in 2018, I’ve been eager for a long form conversation with the rising star about her commitment to her craft, and now that Judas and the Black Messiah is available to watch on HBO Max, that time has finally come. Fishback joined us for an episode of Collider Ladies Night and she most certainly didn’t disappoint; her journey is oozing with hard work, passion and gratitude every single step of the way.

Hear all about her experience working on The Deuce, Project Power, Judas and the Black Messiah and so much more right here!

WandaVision: MCU Powerhouse Elizabeth Olsen Once "Felt Very Stupid" for Wanting to Act - Collider Ladies Night Jan 22, 2021
    Show notes

As much as I enjoy discussing current success on Collider Ladies Night - especially when it’s a standout new series like WandaVision - I find that one of the most exciting components of the conversation is the part that focuses on someone’s experience breaking into the industry and the earliest stages of honing their craft, because every path is different. We’ve done dozens of episodes of Ladies Night at this point, highlighting a whole bunch of unique experiences that hopefully all add up to convey that you can achieve your dream in a way that’s true to you. And it turns out, I’ve got another prime example of that right here with Elizabeth Olsen’s episode of the show.

Hear all about Olsen's earliest experiences breaking into the industry, how things changed after Martha Marcy May Marlene, how she scored her first blockbuster roles in Godzilla and Avengers: Age of Ultron, what it was like making WandaVision, working with Sam Raimi on Doctor Stranger in the Multiverse of Madness and so much more!

The Wilds: Mia Healey on Her Whirlwind Journey to Amazon and Bungee Jumping with Erana James - Collider Ladies Night Jan 22, 2021
    Show notes

I’m especially excited about this new edition of Collider Ladies Night for a number of reasons. First off, I’m obsessed with the new Amazon series The Wilds. It debuted on Prime Video in early December and follows a group of young woman stranded on a deserted island. Not only is there a fascinating mystery at play, but the show also features a downright stellar ensemble including our Ladies Night guest, Mia Healey. So yes, I was beyond thrilled to talk about a show I fell so hard for with Healey, but the other exciting thing about this conversation is that it marks the very first episode of Collider Ladies Night that puts the spotlight on someone getting their first screen credit.

Check out this video to hear all about Healey's earliest inspirations, what it was like being on her first big set, working with Erana James on the Shelby and Toni relationship, her hopes for Shelby in Season 2 of the show and so much more!
