One More - Dave Doeren, Head Coach, NC State At The LFGF Clinic Mar 08, 2022
    Show notes

We just finished the 2nd annual Lauren’s First and Goal Clinic. It was another amazing experience with over 125 college, CFL, and NFL coaches donating their time and football knowledge to help Lauren’s foundation for pediatric brain tumor research and cancer services. If you missed it, the good news is that both single and staff passes are available giving you either 30 days or one year with the premium ticket to access this incredible football knowledge. I love the spirit of helping others that is a huge part of the clinic and was excited to receive calls and texts from the speakers thanking us for allowing them to be a part of it. On behalf of Lauren’s First and Goal and the Loose family I want to thank all who participated, both speakers and attendees for supporting this cause. Today’s episode is a peek into the clinic with NC State head coach Dave Doeren who talks about his mission as a coach and how his team uses the idea of “one more” to improve everyday. Please consider purchasing it both for the knowledge it affords you as well as the cause which helps those in need. You can register at lfgf2022.coachesclinic.com

What Is Leverage, Contact For Every Position - Part 2 Scott Peters, Asst OL Coach, Cleveland Browns Feb 15, 2022
    Show notes

This episode is from the launch of the podcast at the end of 2016. Scott Peters is now the assistantships offensive line coach under Bill Callahan for the Cleveland Browns. Together they developed the #1 rated run blocking and pass blocking offensive line as rated by Pro Football Focus for the 2020 season. This show is one that presents solutions to the major threat facing our game. Peters provides specific answers in how we can save the game at every level, and it starts with a thorough examination of the “why” behind the way the game is taught. The information he provides in this episode will open your eyes and spur thinking on how every single coach is responsible for contributing to creating a strong future for the game of football. Former Arizona Cardinals player Scott Peters is on a quest developing a nonprofit business that makes football safer for professional and young athletes more successful in blocking and defeating blocks with his innovative hand combat and leverage concepts. Scott’s new techniques are sought out by most NFL and Major College Programs, and they teach simple, powerful ways to neutralize blocks. Safe Football LLC (now Tip of the Spear Football) was launched by Peters, who said he had a history of concussions throughout his professional and college playing days, including one sustained without any helmet contact. Because there is no helmet that will resolve the injury issue and the safest football involves simply not playing, Peters is out to show the techniques he developed that he believes will make the sport safer by using a combination of mixed martial arts and biomechanics. “It’s about achieving vertical lift with the hands instead of horizontal contact,” said Peters, who holds a communications bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University. “It allows someone smaller to overpower someone larger using tapping and lifting techniques. It takes away their power. You’re operating with perfect alignment and compromising their spine and shoulder movements. It’s as safe as it’s going to get.” With approximately 3 million youth playing football, and a major push by colleges and the NFL to implement various efforts to reduce concussions, the nonprofit has a ready-made market for its offerings. The business is a spinoff of Peters’ Fight Ready MMA gym in Scottsdale. The former ASU player set up shop in the Valley and is looking to branch out beyond the fighting skills. “I like to say, ‘Save the brain. Save the game,’” said Peters, who sits on concussion analysis panels. “There are better ways to do things.” Shownotes: -Playing with leverage -What is leverage? -You have to drill it and make it a habit -Issues with bench press -How to train tight hands -Do things that promote the right movement -Is it really "Low man wins?" -The high cut player -Average Pro Bowler size -The "caveman" build -Short leg OL -How to win leverage -Safe and effective technique -Contact for all positions SPPAAT acronym -Changing the framework -Contact specialist coach -Helmets and risk compensation -MMA approach to training Tip of the Spear Football: tipofthespearfootball.com/ FREE Course: https://coachtube.com/course/football/force-deflection-base-blocks-on-the-los-mike-pollak/11947674?cpnCode=Podcast100&track=644d6704ec82c1eb769ef15b06e5d1e8 Enter the code Podcast100
